Hosni Mubarak is/was a son of a bitch but he is/was a known and stable son of a bitch (Mubarak's actual state of being is in dispute). He managed to keep the Muslim Brotherhood and Egyptian Islamic Jihad in check while keeping the peace treaty with Israel intact.
His ouster last year changed the face of the Middle East. With Islamist's winning in other nations such as Libya, we now have our hands full dealing with regimes who hate us and want our presence in the region curtailed. We face two very bad options with regard to Egypt: we continue to send them billions in aid and hope they stick to the agreement with Israel or we cut off the funding and watch the nation devolve into a haven for jihadi's right on Israel's southwestern border.
Either way, the region is going to become highly destabilized. The new president said he didn't want Cairo, Mecca or Medina as his capital, he wants Jerusalem and led a huge crowd in a chant saying exactly that:
Israel cannot sit idly by and see what direction this is headed. If it were up to me, I'd covertly arm Israel with whatever they need to shore up their defenses including spare parts for existing systems and increased intelligence sharing.
We could very well be seeing the next pan-Arab coalition building that was last seen when Nasser was leading the charge and Israel was attacked by numerous Arab states.
On the flip side, Amir Tehiri sees some hope but that was before the election.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone Targeted for Offending Muslims
Sphere: Related ContentSeriously? Anyone who has watched fifteen seconds of South Park knows that Parker and Stone thrive on offending people. No one is safe from Kyle, Cartman, Butters, Stan and once upon a time; Kenny (before that unfortunate evening at TGIFridays).
Here's the gist; Parker and Stone wrote an episode whereby Mohammed has a serious superpower:
What is Muhammad's super power? No one can criticize him. Here's a snippet (backward for some reason) and the entire episode can be watched here:
Something celebrities would die -- or kill -- for.
But they weren't making fun of Muhammad. They were making fun of Muslims like Zach who are the only group of religious zealots who threaten violence every time they are offended.
Which makes this whole thing perfectly ironic.
Some idiot "artist" puts a picture of Jesus in a jar of piss and no death threats or fatwas are issued. Stone and Parker show Bhudda snorting coke in the episode above and know that Bhuddist's aren't going to run amok and behead people.
The greatest right we as people have is the right to freedom of speech and expression. Stone and Parker have taken that to an extreme but they must be supported or we will end up with laws like those in Canada and Britain that restrict that right under penalty of law.
As an aside; there's a reason people like I are called South Park Republicans; we abhor any restriction on free speech and freedom of thought. While South Park pushes the envelope in every episode, I support their ability to do so. Plus, the show is just frickin hilarious.

Obama Finally Realizes We Are At War With Islamo-Terrorist's
Sphere: Related ContentIt's about damn time too as we have credible reports of up to 25 plots and one attempt that would have succeeded but for passengers taking things into their own hands.
Obama had to make a stand and project strength after dithering for the last ten months and calling terrorism anything but. His national security team treated our national security as a joke and that was on full display when Obama's top terrorism--Michael Leiter--guy didn't see the need to cut short his ski vacation after the plot was revealed (Leiter: An attempted plane bomb? Did anyone get killed? Okay, what time do the lifts start running?)
Obama actually said "the buck stops here" and accepted responsibility. He didn't blame Bush and he didn't fire anyone even though the aforementioned Leiter should get canned immediately.
Now that he's acted tough, will he back it up with actions or was it just rhetoric? We'll see.
Here's the AP's take:

Thursday Night News and Notes
Sphere: Related ContentHey y'all.
I'm full of venom tonight as my boys I-pod was ripped off and so was my phone. Here's to hoping there's a special place in hell for thieves. Preferably where they have barbed implements jammed into orifices.
Anyway, here's what's going on:
-Our illustrious president was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for, well, nothing. Here's what he said in his acceptance speech that I have to give him props for:
I make this statement mindful of what Martin Luther King Jr. said in this same ceremony years ago: "Violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones." As someone who stands here as a direct consequence of Dr. King's life work, I am living testimony to the moral force of non-violence. I know there's nothing weak -- nothing passive -- nothing naïve -- in the creed and lives of Gandhi and King."Evil does exist in the world"...many liberals don't ever comprehend that. Still a great many first person references but how does one make a speech for a an award one didn't deserve?
But as a head of state sworn to protect and defend my nation, I cannot be guided by their examples alone. I face the world as it is, and cannot stand idle in the face of threats to the American people. For make no mistake: Evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force may sometimes be necessary is not a call to cynicism -- it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.
-Uganda has been swept up in a Muslim fervor and shariah law is the law of the land throughout much of the nation. The despotic regime is on the verge of passing legislation that would sentence homosexuals to death--all under the guise of stopping HIV. Libs went right for the blame the Evangelicals and neocons card but GOP representatives have come out against this vile action before Obama did.
-Oh Lord, we're putting the passage or failure of the healthcare fiasco in the hands of the Maine twins. Dude, Snowe better get her act together on this and not abandon who supported her.
-Got us a high-ranking al-Qaeda scumbag today. Not bin-Laden or Zawahiri but they have effectively been figureheads. The number three is the guy and hopefully it's who we targeted. Here's to hoping we slammed a Phoenix right into his left nostril. I'm so happy I want to be the first to say happy Nobel Peace Prize day!
-How pissed am I today? More pissed than Maynard was when he wrote this little ditty about LA washing into the Pacific and dreaming of swimming in Arizona Bay (NSFW or kids):

Friday Night News & Notes
Sphere: Related ContentIt's been a busy week and the events in Obamanation still offer a right-wing blogger plenty of fodder. Plus, you'll never hear me say this again: I am rooting for the Giants this week against the Cowgirls.
Here's what is new is this crazy old world:
-First the Obama administration refused to call the Fort Hood murders terrorism. Now they rub salt in the wounds of the families of those who were the latest victims of Islamo-fascism. We've lost the War on Terror in less than a year.
-The New Jersey legislature knows that gay marriage won't pass the democratic way--by allowing citizens to vote--so they back door it and ram it down our throats. No pun intended.
-The Copenhagen Environmental circle jerk has lost some of it's luster in the midst of Climategate that show the whole Global Warming Swindle to be a scam. Hell, even Al Gore bailed on the sham meeting. Well, since they have nothing to really accomplish, they might as well get some free loving from the local hookers. At least if they're banging the locals, they won't have time to draw up any idiotic carbon reduction bullshit treaty that costs me money. Think about it: dorky scientist's getting some should be sufficient to make them forget why they're there.
-Glad to see that whole Obama approach to Iran is working out so well.
-Obama just sentenced our troops to a nightmare in Afghanistan by not setting a plan for victory, the Climategate story is enormous and being ignored by American media and the LA Times decides to cover hard news instead.
-John McCain calls a spade a spade. It's war vs. AARP who has failed an entire generation of their customers:

When Terrorism Isn't Terrorism
Sphere: Related ContentIt's downright Orwellian that the actions of Army officer Nidal Malik Hasan are not called terrorism by any Democrats. The definition of terrorism according to Dictionary.com is as follows:
ter·ror·ism (těr'ə-rĭz'əm)Hasan killed 14 people in cold blood and the daily revelations emerging show that he did it for ideological reasons--the supposed war against his fellow Muslims (and potentially in conjunction with radical elements). That by the definition above is pure and simple terrorism.
n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
Of course, we all know that Obama won't call it terrorism because he would be admitting that we were attacked again after 8-years of George W. Bush stopping another one after 9/11. Obama's essentially putting his hands over his ears and screaming loudly so he can't hear the mean people saying bad things and can right on ignoring what the country knows. He's voting "present"...again.
We are still in a war that all the hopey-changiness will not stop. Many Muslims wish us dead or submissive; a pretty simple concept. Instead of Democrats and Liberals worrying about a backlash that won't happen, perhaps they should do what the country elected them to do and that's protect us from acts of fundamentalist terror from loosely connected Muslim elements.
Instead their policies have neutered us to the point that a guy with the abbreviation for Soldier of Allah actually had it on his Army business card and no one wanted to offend his sensibilities and be un-PC and report this little fact. Lord help us over the next 3+ years; I hopee we make it.

The Obama Speech in Cairo
Sphere: Related Content
Reactions run the gamut on the speech and I guess it depends what each individual was expecting.
My thoughts are that it was a well-crafted speech although a bit too long. The audience didn't not grasp the applause lines except when it was either Obama quoting the Koran, praising Islam or bashing Israel, which is about what I expected.
All in all however, the speech projected weakness. Arabs as a whole and Muslims in particular respect one thing and that is strength. If one is powerful he deserves respect and if not he doesn't. It goes back to their tribal roots and has never left them. Obama came off as weak and he is the leader of the US so we did as well. At least he didn't bow to King Abdullah again and really make us look pathetic.
I think he had some fine points to make but didn't have the guts to say the words "terrorism" or "terrorist" and shied away from talking about the 9/11 attacks. He also neglected to note that Iraq is now a growing democracy--the first in the Mideast and, in fact, belittled the effort. Plus, he's going to sell out Israel regardless of his words.
Reactions around the blogosphere range from "awful" to "surprisingly good" to disappointment.
Other reactions here, text of the speech here.
I'm hoping this is the last of the America Sucks tour. It's akin to The Who doing their seventeenth annual farewell tour.

The BBC Worse Than Spending Tax $ on "Piss Christ"
Sphere: Related ContentIn Great Britain, if you own a TV, you have to pay a license tax that supports the BBC. It is compulsory.
So what if they put something on that you find false, repulsive and offensive? Well, if you are an Anglo-Christian you get rebuffed:
The BBC Trust has dismissed a complaint about an episode of Bonekickers, a BBC One drama series about a team of archaeologists, that involved a fundamentalist Christian beheading a Muslim (as so often happens in real life, right?). The Trust has backed an earlier BBC ruling that there is "no reason why viewers would have been given the impression that the fanatics in the programme were evangelical Christians or that the programme gave an offensive portrayal of such people".Remember when Nick Berg and Daniel Pearl were beheaded on video by fundamentalist Episcopalians? Me neither.
Note that this is immediately after the BBC apologized to Muslims for some alleged affront to them. Londonistan is here.
"Piss Christ" reference explained here.

Mumbai Jews Tortured, Liberals Silent
Sphere: Related ContentAs expected, the Islamo-fascists who targeted the few Jews in Mumbai tortured them mercilessly:
Asked what was different about the victims of the incident, another doctor said: "It was very strange. I have seen so many dead bodies in my life, and was yet traumatised. A bomb blast victim's body might have been torn apart and could be a very disturbing sight. But the bodies of the victims in this attack bore such signs about the kind of violence of urban warfare that I am still unable to put my thoughts to words," he said.Emphasis mine.
Asked specifically if he was talking of torture marks, he said: "It was apparent that most of the dead were tortured. What shocked me were the telltale signs showing clearly how the hostages were executed in cold blood," one doctor said.
The other doctor, who had also conducted the post-mortem of the victims, said: "Of all the bodies, the Israeli victims bore the maximum torture marks. It was clear that they were killed on the 26th itself. It was obvious that they were tied up and tortured before they were killed. It was so bad that I do not want to go over the details even in my head again," he said.
Corroborating the doctors' claims about torture was the information that the Intelligence Bureau had about the terror plan. "During his interrogation, Ajmal Kamal said they were specifically asked to target the foreigners, especially the Israelis," an IB source said.
It is also said that the Israeli hostages were killed on the first day as keeping them hostage for too long would have focused too much international attention. "They also might have feared the chances of Israeli security agencies taking over the operations at the Nariman House," he reasoned.
The political left in this country wails about waterboarding, which may cause momentary terror but is not fatal and does not leave a physical scar. They scream that Bush supports torture at every opportunity they get but when faced with the proof of real torture, unthinkable torture, they are silent. What could the Muslim terrorists have done that was so brutal as to make a doctor not want to speak or think of it?
Look who commented on this article at Technorati. Glenn Reynolds posted on it so it got wide exposure but still liberals say nothing. This was a hate crime--targeted at a specific group of people--that should be a natural for liberals to discuss. Instead, they have thrown their lot in with Muslims and will never, ever say anything that would make Bush look right in the Global War on Terror. Double that for Israeli's. Add in their blatant anti-Semitism or, at best hatred of Israel and you have the vile ingredients of their collective silence.
Two young people who wished nothing more than to practice their religion were slaughtered after unspeakable torture and liberals say nothing. I guess the Obama search for the next Secretary of Agriculture is of greater import.
These people make me utterly sick; people were tortured in ways that were unthinkable and they say nothing. They slaughtered them because of who they are and nothing more. Who knows, they may even have supported right of return or evacuating to the '67 borders. They were tortured and murdered and we hear nothing from those who claim to care. Pathetic.
Other thoughts here and here.
H/T: Jawas.
Addendum: To be very clear, I feel for all the victims but it is abundantly clear that they targeted and used the most barbaric methods of torture imaginable specifically for the Jews.
Update: more here.
Update: Accuse America of torture and the libs are all over it. Here's the Technorati feed. Just as I intimated above, if it's torture against a man like Zarqawi, the libs are all over it. Torture and murder of innocent Jews, not so much.
Update: It's always funny to watch libs try to justify the senseless killing of absolute innocents, isn't it. I like the way they twist themselves like pretzels to get the Muslims off the hook.

Snooze
Sphere: Related ContentOn 11 September 2001, the World got a wake-up call.
Since then, it seems the World has rolled over, hit snooze and gone back to sleep.
In the last fortnight in Australia, Islamic clerics have been convicted of terrorism, and plotting the most awful crimes against humanity and the society which has provided them food, shelter, and plenty of money.
The hearing had been told the group originally planned to launch a terrorist strike on the 2005 AFL Grand Final between the Sydney Swans and the West Coast Eagles at Melbourne's packed MCG.
When ASIO and police raids disrupted these plans, the target was allegedly switched to the final of the AFL pre-season competition or Melbourne's Crown casino during Grand Prix weekend in 2006.
The hearing was told that Benbrika had tried to obtain up to 500kg of explosives made from ammonium nitrate fertiliser from an undercover police officer and some of his followers had tried to buy guns, including AK-47 assault rifles.
Federal Attorney-General Robert McClelland welcomed the convictions, describing the case as "the most successful terrorist prosecution that this country has seen".
That report, was a mere 5 days after the anniversary of 9/11. You'd think people had such matters in the forefront of their mind.
Due to some unrelated political upheavals locally however, there was not a single letter to the editor about this in any mainstream newspaper down here, today. It was yesterday's news the day it was reported.
Wake up Australia.
Meanwhile, the restrictions on 'sub judice' reporting mean most of the facts of this trial weren't reported until much later. I cannot help but wonder whether hearing about it months ago may have changed our last federal election result. Instead, Prime Minister John Howard was given the boot and we had to listen to people saying how relieved they were that his 'racist politics' were history. Some of those politics might have prevented this person entering the country or seen him deported. Instead, his deportation had been overturned and the results are there for everyone to see.
Managing Islamic immigration is a discussion we need to have. Sadly, it's just not on the agenda.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...

Inmates
Sphere: Related ContentThe New York Times reports:
Syrian military police officers fired on Islamist inmates early on Saturday during a riot at a prison outside Damascus, the Syrian capital, leaving at least nine inmates dead, human rights officials here said.I think it's pretty safe to say that will be the last you'll hear about this incident from the New York Times. I also don't expect any movies about the incident to be released just in time for the US Elections.
I mean, the inmates were just shot dead. It wasn't anything really bad, you know, like being forced into a human pyramid, or photographed wearing their underpants.

Danish Cartoonist Puts Terror Blame Where It Belongs
Sphere: Related ContentIslamo-Fascist's seem to have some difficulty in hitting targets in countries outside of Asia because of George W. Bush's efforts to combat terror at its source. Today, radical Islamist scum targeted the Danish embassy in Pakistan killing many:
Copenhagen - A bombing Monday outside the Danish embassy in Pakistan believed to have claimed at least eight lives was condemned by Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Rasmussen said it was a "cowardly attack" and "strongly condemned" it, but he did not know who had carried out the attack or its motive.Of course, the left will look for the ambiguous "root causes" and will start with the Mohammed cartoons as the reason for the attack. The fact that provocation is not needed and that these fanatics will kill non-Muslims because their religion calls for it will escape them as is always the case.
The Danish premier said Pakistani authorities, including President Pervez Musharraf, had conveyed condolences to Denmark, and he had conveyed Copenhagen's condolences and offered Danish assistance to the victims of the bombing.
However, one cartoonist lays the blame exactly where it belongs:
Copenhagen - Danish newspaper cartoonist Kurt Westergaard said he did not feel responsible for Monday's bombing of the Danish embassy in Pakistan, but deplored the deaths and injuries. "I have no influence over what fanatics do. But that people have been killed is really painful,"As well he shouldn't. Any right-thinking person would look past their hatred of Bush and the war on terrorism and see that this was a cowardly act meant to kill as many people as possible without regard to whether or not they've evr met Westergaard. In other words, it was a hate crime (yes, hate crimes can actually be perpetrated against white Danes and not always American minorities or homosexuals. That has many liberals scratching their heads I'm sure).
Westergaard told the online edition of newspaper BT.
Westergaard's cartoon of the Prophet Mohammed depicted with a bomb in his turban was one of 12 published in newspapers that sparked violent protests in 2006 by Muslims worldwide and triggered a boycott of Danish goods.
Leading Danish newspapers reprinted the cartoons in February after Danish security police said they had averted an alleged plot to murder Westergaard.
Pakistan was one of the countries were protests were reported after the republication.
"My cartoon illustrates how some parts of a big religion, Islam, can inspire terrorism. The drawing has meant that I have been a target of the terrorists wish to kill me - and now this in Pakistan," he added.
Westergaard said he "could not personally take responsibility" if his cartoon had played a role in the car bombing of the embassy in Islamabad.
The war is far from over even if the constant pressure applied to al-Qaeda and other terror groups has resulted in a marked decline in terror attacks.

Leave Your Baggage at Home
Sphere: Related ContentVia Debbie Schlussel:
My friend Miriam Bedein traveled to Britain early in April. She arrived on British Air from Israel, and as she arrived at the baggage claim, she observed that there were no porters at the site.Schlussel's solution? Trolleys? Luggage with wheels? No.
She asked what was happening of the gentleman who was taking her to the baggage carousel, and he said "Ooh, the porters are Muslim and they will not handle any luggage coming from Israel" (In Britain, the porters take the luggage off the carousels and take them to your cab, etc.) While it was not his job, the gentleman was kind enough to get her luggage for her.
DON'T GO TO BRITAIN.I'm a little wary of the story however reading the comments on Debbie's post does suggest we'll be hearing more about this.
It's essentially a Muslim Nation--Dar Al-Islam. Let them have halal bangers and mash all they want, but not our dollars. This situation is in place, because--as with all things--the Brits kowtow to Islam and have allowed this intolerable behavior.
What I do know, is any airport which has Muslims working in airside areas, e.g. baggage handling, or (geez louise) security and customs, will not ever be protected from Islamists. Sure the hard-working peace-loving Muslims we keep hearing about will be upset about that, but I'm sorry. I'm not suggesting they don't deserve jobs. They do. However there are plenty of taxis, convenience stores, mail-routes and other jobs for unskilled workers, which don't increase the risk to one of the most prominent terrorist targets: Aviation.

The 900 Pound Elephant in the Dem Campaign Room
Sphere: Related ContentIn the last year, I've probably heard Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama bring up Islamo-fascist terror fewer times than they've voluntarily brought up the names Lewinsy and Rezko respectively.
The threat is still there, the Bush administration has managed to keep it at bay. The Brits seem to be the ones who are being targeted and from the inside:
A gang of British Muslims planned to blow up seven planes within hours in the biggest terrorist atrocity since 9/11, a court heard yesterday. You may recall this is the case that forced Americans to lose everything from lighters to breast milk when going through security. It was a real threat and now the Brits are making their case and it seems as if it is a good one.
Two thousand passengers would have died in the plot by eight fanatics working "in the name of Islam", the jury was told.
It could have involved up to 18 suicide bombers. And they were almost ready to strike.
The jets they targeted would all have been bound from Heathrow to cities in the U.S. and Canada, it was claimed.
These are Brit citizens and is further proof that love of Allah far outweighs love of country. Killing in the name of Allah is what these men were taught by their local imam and this is what they believe their collective destiny is.
Perhaps I'd feel somewhat better if Clinton and Obama would at least pay some lip service to the issue.
You know how all these idiots have the bumper sticker that says 1-20-09 indicating the joy they will feel when they leave office? I'm going to print one that says 1-21-09 that indicates the day I fear for the safety and security of our nation should either Obama or Clinton win the Oval Office.

Must Reads
Sphere: Related Content
Coaching baseball all weekend so blogging will be light.
- However, there are some serious must-reads out there you have to check out.
- First, Pamela at Atlas Shrugs has a link to the Geert Wilders Fitna video, the one that everyone is trying to keep you from seeing. The Europeans just can't seem to figure out what the ultimate aim of Islam is on that continent. No, I haven't watched it as of yet but plan to this evening. Steyn also weighs in.
- Paul Mirengoff at Powerline brings us the story of more crushing of dissent at Duke where the woman who single-handedly did more to hurt anti-terror ops than anyone is now using her brilliance to help Duke beat the charges brought from destroying the lives of numerous lacrosse players. Still one of the most shameful events of this decade and Jamie Gorelick is pouring salt in the wound.
- Hawk picks his 40-favorite blogs. I tend to agree but he seems to have missed one...
- Isn't it amazing that now we are facing an uprising in Basra, the Iraq War is all over the front pages again?
- Tim Blair celebrates the stupid Earth Hour where a bunch of feel-good environmental idiots turn out the lights for one hour. Google has "turned out the lights" as well. Inane.

Clash of Naivety
Sphere: Related ContentYoutube have announced the 2007 Youtube Video Awards.
One of the finalists was this. Watch it and cringe.
Good grief. When will people realize, that just because people die on 'both sides', that does not mean both sides are in the wrong.
Intent matters.
Only one side deliberately tries to murder civilian non-combatants and celebrates when it happens. Islamists dance in the streets whenever non-Muslims are killed. From 9/11 to last week's shooting in a Jerusalem college. On the other hand, Israelis, Americans and other Western non-Muslims do not dance and celebrate when innocent non-combatant Muslims are killed.
This is not a "clash of civilizations" at all. It is a clash between civilization and barbarism.
Trendy video-makers and 'activists' who don't realize this are fools. The avaaz.org website notes that given the video's massive play count, "Millions hear its message". Sorry, success isn't measured that way. I've heard the message and it is stupid and wrong. It's also not surprising in the slightest that some of their anti-violence billboards appear in Israel but not in say... Gaza.
Unfortunately, the postmodern obsession with 'multiple truths' has clouded some people's ability to tell right from wrong. It starts early when schoolchildren are punished for hitting a bully back. It continues when academics brainwash university students into believing all war is bad. It is compounded by a generation who for the most part, have never known war, never known oppression. It's trendy youngsters who wear communist regalia, not people who've actually experienced communism.
They don't get it. Sometimes, you need to do Bad Things to stop other people doing Worse Things.
I think it's pretty obvious Islamist groups aren't watching Youtube and getting teary.

No Way to Spend Purim
Sphere: Related ContentIt is said, that all Jewish Holydays follow a similar theme: They tried to kill us, we survived, let's eat...
The festival of Purim (which begins on Thursday night) is no exception. It recalls, according to the above link,
Jewish exiles from the Kingdom of Judah who had been living in the Babylonian captivity (6th Century BCE) found themselves under Persian rule after Babylonia was in turn conquered by the Persian Empire. According to the Book of Esther, Haman, royal vizier to King Ahasuerus / Xerxes, planned to kill the Jews, but his plans were foiledJewish people commemorate Purim by:
1. Listening to the public reading, usually in synagogue, of the Book of Esther in the evening and again in the following morning (k'riat megilla)much of it while wearing funny costumes.
2. Sending food gifts to friends (mishloach manot)
3. Giving charity to the poor (matanot la'evyonim)
4. Eating a festive meal (se`udah)
Nice.
John McCain just toured Sderot, in Israel and had this to say, of the Hamas fired rockets, thousands of which have hit Sderot and which continue to be fired daily:
"To live with an advance notice of 15 seconds is not the way for children to celebrate Purim", said Senator John McCain Wednesday afternoon during a tour of Sderot with Defense Minister Ehud Barak. If you really want to know what's going on in the Middle East - and what's not being reported elsewhere - you should read Israeli newspapers.
"No nation can afford not to respond when attacked or when its citizens are attacked," added the Republican presidential candidate.
15 Seconds refers to the early warning the residents of Sderot receive that a missile has been launched. Palestinian propagandists frequently argue that Israel uses "disproportionate force" as many more Palestinians have died than Israelis. They forget that nobody would need to die if Hamas stopped trying to murder Jews. However, thanks to decades of Arab attempts to wipe out the country, Israel has developed a very capable civil defence system. Air-raid sirens, bomb shelters in every building, hardened glass as part of standard building construction and so forth. That (and a bit of luck and maybe divine intervention) is much of the reason many more people haven't died. Not for lack of trying on behalf of the Palestinians.
What could you do in 15 seconds?

Words Fail
Sphere: Related ContentAmidst your local newspaper's inevitable wall to wall coverage of Israel's current actions, you may have missed this other bit of news from the Middle East.
A man beheaded his 15-month-old nephew in front of his mother in a supermarket in Saudi Arabia apparently after a family dispute, newspapers reported.
The 25-year-old Syrian national picked up a knife from the store in the Red Sea city of Jeddah yesterday and decapitated the little boy in full view of shoppers, Arab News said.
The man apparently killed the little boy following a dispute with the man's sister and brother-in-law, the English-language daily said.
"He chopped off the boy's head in front of the mother to get back at her," a police officer was quoted as saying.

Student Threatens Anti-Terror Speaker at USAF Academy
Sphere: Related ContentFormer terrorist Walid Shoebat and two others were invited to speak at the Air Force Academy about terrorism and terrorist mindsets. That didn't sit well with one Muslim student from Jordan.
It didn't sit well with CAIR either and the media again reported CAIR's message like the good enablers they are instead of the message of men who know exactly how serious the Islamo-fascist threat is:
Numerous media outlets (New York Times, the Associated Press, The Colorado Springs Gazette, the Rocky Mountain News) did not report on the former terrorists' message, but instead focused on the [inaccurate] media statements distributed by CAIR (Council for American Islamic Relations), in an all-out campaign to discredit the speakers credentials and background.First off, good for the Academy for smacking Hooper and CAIR down. The rest is typical of any Muslim who criticizes Islam, from Wafa Sultan and Ayaan Hirsi-Ali to Walid Shoebat, with CAIR any person who doesn't toe the "Islam means peace" line becomes an enemy. There's zero room for dissent and CAIR has expertly manipulated the media to report their point of view or not report anything at all. Yes, the MSM will report on some of those who oppose the misogynistic and violent aspects of Islam but always with a spin toward CAIR's thinking.
"We have all been told that Islam has been hijacked by extremists,” said Walid Shoebat. "Yet CAIR, who professes to be ‘Moderate Muslims’ are the Three Ex Terrorists biggest critics, and pull out all stops to try and keep out voices from being heard. I beg to ask the question; if CAIR is indeed moderate as they claim, then WHY are they not supporting our campaign against 'extremists? If they are sincerely against the Fundamentalist Muslim agenda why do they appose (sic) us?"
According to the Air Force Academy's public affairs office CAIR spokesman, Ibrahim Hooper, contacted them numerous times criticizing the scheduling of the three men, and requesting an opportunity to have a CAIR representative share with cadets information about the Islamic faith. The Academy informed Hooper that the event was not about religion, but about terrorism, and he denied CAIR's request.
Try this, ask anyone you know if they have heard of Hirsi-Ali--a woman who should be on the front page of the National Organization for Women website due to her heroic stand in the face of real death threats. Odds are 100-1 that you will get a blank stare or a response in the negative. Why? Because CAIR, in concert with large media, has stifled any talk of her or the others who speak the truth about radical Islam.

Did the US Liquidate Adam Gadahn?
Sphere: Related ContentHopefully yes. It's inconclusive at this point and the military is saying we missed him but he's either gone underground or is buried underground.
I tend to lean towards Allah's thinking here, but would the military be vocal if we did get him? First, Gadahn is an American citizen regardless of the fact he supposedly tore up his passport and renounced citizenship. The military wouldn't exactly trumpet the fact that they are targeting Americans--even Americans who've sided with a mortal enemy that killed 3,000 in NYC.
Second, and this is more important; by advertising the fact that we exterminated the scumbag, wouldn't that bring congressional investigations as a purely political move? The anti-warriors like Murtha and Rangel would love to have our top brass answering as to why they targeted an American citizen--even though the story is that he wasn't targeted but just happened to be there. The torture issue is settled, Abu Ghraib is in the past and we are succeeding in Iraq as never before, the retreaters need an issue and Gadahn's death could well be that issue.
Think about it, the NY Times could write of Gadahn being a wayward young man who fell for Islam much like John Walker Lindh and David Hicks of Australia did. He was just a misguided American lad who needed guidance and Islam gave him that. What did the mean old Bush administration do? They murdered him in cold blood, they murdered a young American man and they should be held accountable.
This story has largely not yet made the American press but if it turns out that Howie is correct and we did indeed get the vile Gadahn, it will break quickly.
