What You Should Be Reading Instead of Me

Sphere: Related Content

Good stuff from around the Web:

Imported drugs are not the answer and could be a catastrophe. A must read.

PETA wants vegan cafeteria in a proposed gay school. What the hell would the cafeteria ladies in that place look like?

Israel laments a possible Obama win.

Compare and contrast: Palestinians support Obama, Iraqi's support McCain. It's amazing what freedom from tyranny does to ones preference.

What was the most-watched political-related ad on You Tube this election season? This was, with 11 million hits and it should make Obama ashamed:

Thank you for your service and sacrifice, brother.

Clash of Naivety

Sphere: Related Content

Youtube have announced the 2007 Youtube Video Awards.

One of the finalists was this. Watch it and cringe.

Good grief. When will people realize, that just because people die on 'both sides', that does not mean both sides are in the wrong.

Intent matters.

Only one side deliberately tries to murder civilian non-combatants and celebrates when it happens. Islamists dance in the streets whenever non-Muslims are killed. From 9/11 to last week's shooting in a Jerusalem college. On the other hand, Israelis, Americans and other Western non-Muslims do not dance and celebrate when innocent non-combatant Muslims are killed.

This is not a "clash of civilizations" at all. It is a clash between civilization and barbarism.

Trendy video-makers and 'activists' who don't realize this are fools. The avaaz.org website notes that given the video's massive play count, "Millions hear its message". Sorry, success isn't measured that way. I've heard the message and it is stupid and wrong. It's also not surprising in the slightest that some of their anti-violence billboards appear in Israel but not in say... Gaza.

Unfortunately, the postmodern obsession with 'multiple truths' has clouded some people's ability to tell right from wrong. It starts early when schoolchildren are punished for hitting a bully back. It continues when academics brainwash university students into believing all war is bad. It is compounded by a generation who for the most part, have never known war, never known oppression. It's trendy youngsters who wear communist regalia, not people who've actually experienced communism.

They don't get it. Sometimes, you need to do Bad Things to stop other people doing Worse Things.

I think it's pretty obvious Islamist groups aren't watching Youtube and getting teary.

CNN Won't Let It Go

Nothing on the morning news show, but CNN keeps picking open the scab

It's about time to let it go as your selections are getting picked apart one-by-one.

We always knew CNN is partisan, this is just more to add to the dossier.

Plants, Shills and the Debates

Sphere: Related Content

When I posted a debate recap this morning, I neglected to read other blogs first and Memeorandum so I had missed that four, count 'em four, Democrat plants were used by CNN last night.

Now I have no problem with Democrats asking Republicans questions as this moron intimates. No, I have a problem with one guy calling himself a "Log Cabin Republican" and actually being a supporter of Obama. Plain and simply, CNN dropped the ball again; just imagine what the nutroots would say if it were found that four questioners were supportive of Giuliani, Romney, Huckabee and Thompson at a Dem, they'd go apeshit and if they deny it...well, I would expect them to deny it because they're libs and Dems, that's their collective M.O.

Interestingly, the candidates answered the questions and showed that they have conviction in their views. Juxtapose that with Dems, they give no answers, convoluted answers or in the case of Hillary, two opposite answers to the same damn question.

As an aside, I just heard Wolf Blitzer of the aforementioned Clinton News Network preview a story about the candidates not mentioning George W. Bush. You may recall, Al Gore distanced himself far from Clinton during his campaign and the simple truth is that Bush is a lame duck and isn't running for anything. Someone should tell that to the Dems who speak about Bush more than real issues like the War on Terror and Iraq.

Anyway, Debate results are varied from Huckabee and John McCain winning to Frank Luntz calling it for Thompson.

Since I had to drive three hours to the Catskills in New York state, I had time to think about it and hear the snippets again. That said, I still thought Giuliani did well and he did score points at Romney's expense. This on a day that there were questions about questionable funding for trips to the Hamptons. I score it a win for Giuliani, Huckabee and Thompson.

Debate Wrap Up

The format was a bit awkward with the videos, I know it was hard to hear at least one question put to Thompson. Aside from that, the questions were OK.

Here's how I think the candidates did:

Romney--He's polished as a politician but was caught stuttering on some important points. We're well past the point for a candidate to be unprepared for questions on abortion or gun control. Giuliani had him on his heels a few times but he recovered. Grade: B

Thompson--He needed to shine in this one and did so-so. He was funny and folksy, which is his bread and butter, yet he needs to be more emphatic when making his points. Overall, not a horrible night. Grade B-

Paul--He had the crowd with him, not because he's popular but because his moronic followers somehow scarfed a ticket. They were rude in some respects. Paul's performance was not bad but he seems way too angry and tries to fit his rhetoric into every question. I don't think he helped himself so much last night. Grade C-

Giuliani--Rudy used his prosecutor experience well last night. Him and Mitt got into it pretty fiercely and he didn't get caught flat-footed. He stuck by his views on abortion and gay marriage even though it's a bad issue in a primary. Grade B+

McCain--He looked tired and he probably is. He would've been a strong candidate in 2004 if he had been able to run. He's good on the Iraq issue and has moral standing on the torture issue but his argument that water boarding is torture may hurt him. Grade B-

Huckabee--Old Huck needed a big night to keep the momentum going. He didn't get it. He's the "religious candidate" and honestly, his evangelical rhetoric isn't going to play so well if he gets the nomination. He wants to be known as the heir to Reagan but he just comes off as tight and rigid. Grade C-
