Today on The Five, Bob Beckel driveled about healthcare being a civil right. His specious argument consisted of his contention that it was guaranteed by the Constitution under the "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness" clause I guess. I chuckled at the idea that he's turning twisting himself up like a pretzel trying to make the case it's in the Constitution but denies that the Founding Fathers expressly considered gun ownership a right even though it says it clear as day...but I digress.
This is not a new tack by the left who are pro-Obamacare. they make this argument but generally in comfortable settings where they will never be called on it; places such as CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, etc. There's absolutely nothing in the constitution about healthcare and was it was never intended to be.
You have a right in my opinion to stabilizing treatment and basic care but nothing gives one the right to have all healthcare costs covered. Health care came about as a perk for companies to offer employees when hiring and for unions to bargain for. Then the lawyers entered the picture and drove up costs for medical professional by suing over every supposed instance of malpractice thus causing doctors to get insurance for malpractice and raising their fees and it became a downward spiral.
But we haven't seen anything until O-care kicks in. The lawyers--major backers of Obama and the Democrats--will have a field day because they just got 30-million new potential clients.
So back to the argument about health care being a right. If someone refuses to take care of themselves--say they are obese--is it a right for them to get treatment for a condition wholly caused by them? No. What a bout a sick child, is it a right for their parents to have insurance to pay for the child? No again. There are options currently out there but they require one to get and hold a job. In other words, a perk offered by their employer that is part of the benefit package. And enough of the argument about people being without insurance, Medicaid was the last great healthcare debacle and it ended up being a mess that forced Obamacare on us. But Medicaid is out there and is an option.
This is nothing but a step towards universal healthcare along the Canadian model. The days of seeing a doctor the day you need one, getting a knee replacement without prior consent and charging the best pharmaceuticals to your insurance are over. Sarah Palin was belittled by saying we'd see "death panels' but indeed we will someday and that day gets a lo closer when O-care kicks in.

Obama Pisses on the Military Again
Sphere: Related ContentThere's no other way to frame this but a deep disdain for the military and deference to his big government ideology:
The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched. The proposal is causing a major rift within the Pentagon, according to U.S. officials. Several congressional aides suggested the move is designed to increase the enrollment in Obamacare’s state-run insurance exchanges.
The disparity in treatment between civilian and uniformed personnel is causing a backlash within the military that could undermine recruitment and retention.
The proposed increases in health care payments by service members, which must be approved by Congress, are part of the Pentagon’s $487 billion cut in spending. It seeks to save $1.8 billion from the Tricare medical system in the fiscal 2013 budget, and $12.9 billion by 2017.
Many in Congress are opposing the proposed changes, which would require the passage of new legislation before being put in place.
Many people in the military would be considered the working poor if they weren't in uniform but Obama doesn't give a damn about them.
Words kind of fail me at this point but I will say that we will see good men and women leave the military because Obama is sticking to his beliefs on Obamacare. This is a a political ad waiting to be played over and over.

Obama Awakens Sleeping Giant?
Sphere: Related ContentWhen the Japanese planes that bombed Pearl Harbor returned to their carriers, the architect of that raid, Admiral Yamamoto famously noted that he feared Japan "awaken(ed) a sleeping giant". Indeed they did as a country still reeling from the Depression and arguing amongst ourselves whether or not to get into the great war sweeping the world was forced into it by the attack. We became united and focused on one cause and that was defeating the enemy.
“What are we doing here?” asked Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, stepping outside his wheelhouse to ask about a rising storm involving the Obama administration and the Catholic Church. “What’s the point?”I'm guessing that will eventually be the policy and they will go full-bore with the proposal if he wins another term. Yet he'll have another problem and that will be placating his base who are ecstatic that he's taking what in their minds is the theocracy. If he caves, they will go apeshit. They are flush with elation at beating back the Susan Komen Foundation juggernaut who dared threaten Planned Parenthood and to give in to the church would really piss them off. Don't think he's not hearing it loud and clear and is going to be very careful about upsetting the raging feminist horde.
It was the Fall of 2011 and Panetta had read about a proposed Obama administration rule that would require employers – excluding houses of worship but including religious organizations such as charities, hospitals, and schools – to offer health insurance that fully covered contraception.
Panetta — a Catholic, former U.S. Representative, and White House chief of staff — didn’t quite understand why the Obama administration would be stepping into this conflict.
Panetta’s fears have to a degree been realized as White House officials now find themselves taking heat on a policy debate about conscience and religious liberty; the Obama administration is working to find a way to allow religious organizations to not pay for services they find morally objectionable, while also ensuring that, say, the women nurses and doctors who work at Catholic hospitals have full access to birth control. Some officials are discussing a way to introduce something like the law in Hawaii, where religious organizations don’t have to pay for employee insurance that covers contraception, but they do have to inform employees how they can get it on their own.
It remains to be seen whether or not the Catholics will come together and forgive Obama, unite against him or have a minor schism whereby some vote their conscience. I'm guessing the latter will be the case but only time will tell.

Sane People Win One in Healthcare Fight
Sphere: Related ContentIt's a small but hopefully first victory against the bill that will simultaneously destroy the economy and the best healthcare system in the world:
This just in: Virginia federal judge Henry Hudson on Monday ruled that he’ll let the state of Virginia’s challenge to the landmark health care law passed in March go forward, at least for the time being. Click here for the early Reuters story; here for the 32-page opinion. And how did the Nobama administration respond? By comparing the bill and the court challenge in historical terms right up with the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act. Note Ms. Cutter doesn't say that it wasn't Republicans who challenged those two pieces of legislation but Democrats led by Al Gore, Sr. and Clinton mentor William Fulbright...but I digress.
The Department of Health and Human Services had moved to dismiss the lawsuit, which was filed in March (click here for the complaint), shortly after the passage of the law. But Judge Hudson on Monday denied the motion.
The ruling represents a setback that will force the Obama administration to mount a lengthy legal defense of the law. The suit, filed by Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli (pictured), alleges that the law’s requirement that its residents have health insurance violates the Commerce Clause of the Constitution.
The healthcare bill was rammed through using sleazy tactics, bribes, hidden costs we are no where near counting up and all while giving the majority of Americans the finger. We don't want it but according to the "intellectuals" in power, we aren't smart enough to know just how great this is for us.
The GOP has to make this topic 1, 1A and 1B the entire fall. Make the Dems wallow in their choices and squirm at every opportunity just like last year. Make Steny Hoyer eat his words about the Tea Party having "run its course".
Hopefully it comes down to Justices Alito, Thomas, Roberts, Scalia and Stevens shutting the door on this monstrosity once and for all.

Stupak Makes Deal With the Devil: Will Vote Yes
Sphere: Related ContentRep. Stupak has been assured by the Obama administration that an executive order making public funding for abortion illegal will be signed once the bill is passed. The only hope now is for pro-abortion representatives to vote no because they wanted public abortion dollars to pay for abortions.
Either way, it's probably going to pass.
The dismantling of our Constitution and the nation continues apace.

More on Healthcare
Sphere: Related ContentThe Dems plastered the CBO "deficit reduction" bullshit all over their sites and were dutifully followed by the MSM. The problem is that was all farce. Any right-minded person knows that spending trillions can't result in "deficit reduction" and that the Dem's played fast and loose with the numbers. Here's the proof:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Congressional budget scorekeepers say a Medicare fix that Democrats included in earlier versions of their health care bill would push it into the red.All smoke and mirrors used to plunge us into a chasm where government runs everything (Biden even admitted as much). Goodbye to the best healthcare in the world and goodbye to the best-trained and equipped doctors if this passes.
The Congressional Budget Office said Friday that rolling back a programmed cut in Medicare fees to doctors would cost $208 billion over 10 years. If added back to the health care overhaul bill, it would wipe out all the deficit reduction, leaving the legislation $59 billion in the red.
The so-called doc fix was part of the original House bill. Because of its high cost, Democrats decided to pursue it separately. Republicans say the cost should not be ignored. Congress has usually waived the cuts to doctors year by year.

Healthcare D-Day Tomorrow
Sphere: Related Content
I've been entirely to busy with work to post anything but this is at the critical stage. To put it bluntly, America will be fundamentally changed in the next decade if Pelosi, Reid and Obama pull off this coup.
So where do we stand? As of this second, Pelosi has managed to get some wavering initial "no" votes to sell their souls and switch to "yes" effectively ending their careers at the alter of socialized medicine. According to Jim Hoft whose been following this like a hawk, the tally stands at 217 against versus 214 for. That will change as Rep. Stupak is holding a presser this morning and is expected to say that he and Speaker Botox came to an agreement on abortion language. If his bloc of anti-abortion Dems falls it's game over unless the pro-abortion advocates decide they don't like the amendment and vote no out of spite.
So...right now Pelosi's beating, cajoling, screaming and threatening her fellow Dems to push through a massive program that the majority of the country hates and gives tax-payer funded gifts to unions, the healthcare industry they've been berating and other noteworthy Dem supporters while tearing apart one sixth of the American economy.
If this were passed--especially with the "Slaughter Rule" usage--we'll definitely be referring to Rep. Boehner as Speaker come next year.

Botox Pelosi Stressing Out
Sphere: Related Content
Old San Fran Nan just isn't handling the healthcare battle real well:
Speaker Nancy Pelosi got exasperated when asked at her weekly news conference about the unwillingness of some Democrats – including Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) – to support the health bill because of abortion language.Take your Prozac, Madame Speaker.
“Let me say this: This is not about abortion! This is a bill about providing quality, affordable health care for all Americans,” she said, more eager than ever to stay on message as her legacy becomes increasingly tied to what happens in the next few weeks.
The speaker had just talked about areas of disagreement between the House and Senate bills that are being worked on as leaders iron out legislative language for a comprehensive package that Congress can pass. But she omitted abortion.
“I will not have it turned into a debate on (abortion),” she said, when asked a follow-up question about Stupak. “Let me say it clearly: we all agree on the three following things. … One is there is no federal funding for abortion. That is the law of the land. It is not changed in this bill. There is no change in the access to abortion. No more or no less: It is abortion neutral in terms of access or diminution of access. And, third, we want to pass a health care bill.”
Why is it not about abortion? According to liberals, everyone just loves abortion or as they call it "reproductive rights". If people love it so much, let's say it is about abortion and have a national discussion on that as well as healthcare that will destroy 1/6 of the US economy in a decade.
Pelosi is losing it and again proves she's the worst Speaker of the House in 50-years. She can't keep her people in line, butchered the Rangel replacement issue and is about to be played severely by Obama perhaps.
The stress would be showing on her face is there was actually enough loose skin to move.

Obama to America: Go To Hell
Sphere: Related ContentThe American people have said in no uncertain terms that they don't want any healthcare legislation or at the very least for them to start over and come up with a better idea. But Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid know better than us what we want. We want to pay higher taxes, we want to burden our kids with massive debt and we want an enormous entitlement program that will destroy the greatest healthcare system ever seen. Liberalism writ large. They are smarter than us, just ask them.
In spite of every poll, they are gonna ram this piece of shit through and we can't do a damn thing about it:
Sen. Tom Harkin told POLITICO that Senate Democratic leaders have decided to go the reconciliation route. The House, he said, will first pass the Senate bill after Senate leaders demonstrate to House leaders that they have the votes to pass reconciliation in the Senate. The Dem's have all but assured the GOP the House and probably the Senate. Republicans will run ads showing the solipsistic bastards subverting the system in an endless loop and every, single douchebag who voted for it will be hammered in the elections come November. It's not the Tea Party movement anymore, it's the left-centrist guy saying enough. The GOP has to make this viral and pound home the point that you will not have access to basic, quality care like we've become accustomed. Instead it will be rationed care on a scale that will make Canada and Britain look absolutely advanced in comparison.
Harkin made the comments after a meeting in Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's office including Harkin and Sens. Baucus, Dodd, Durbin, Schumer and Murray.
When asked whether the leaders had made the decision, Durbin said: "We are moving ahead with a version of the health care reform bill that we believe has a good chance of passing both the House and the Senate."
He then put the onus on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to signal whether she can provide enough votes to pass the Senate bill, followed by a package of fixes through reconciliation.
"The first step is with Speaker Pelosi and so I will let her decide what it takes in the House," Durbin said.
Reconciliation "has always been an option. But she has to make her own decision on what it takes to enact this in the House," he added.
This is not ramming through some garbage earmark, this is a death sentence for free market capitalism. They've taken the auto industry, beat the utilities into submission, are poised to regulate the banking system in ways that will make them red-headed step-children in world markets and sold our future to a future enemy in China. In other words; Obama has destroyed what it took 250-years to build in a single year.
It's time for a revolution the likes of which haven't been seen since 1776. The Tea Partiers have lit the fuse but if this bill is rammed down our throats I see serious repercussions I don't even want to consider. Mass civilian unrest could shake us in ways not witnessed since the 1960's.
Update: Let's take a ride in the way back machine and watch as The One says that he's never, ever gonna use the nuclear option he's about to use. Every thing Obama says has a sell by date:

Obama to American People: Go to hell
Sphere: Related ContentIn spite of every single poll showing dwindling support for The one and the bloodbath the Dem's suffered in NJ, VA and MA, Obama is plunging ahead with healthcare reform and telling the American people that they either are too stupid to know what is best for them or just plain telling us to go screw ourselves. Either way, we're going to be paying one hell of a bill:
This morning, President Obama released his latest health care blueprint, which he hopes will breathe life into his moribund effort to overhaul one-sixth of the U.S. economy. The new blueprint is almost exactly the same as the House and Senate health care bills that the public have opposed since July. It mostly just splits the difference between the two.
One new element, however, is the president’s proposal to impose a new type of government price control on health insurance premiums. I explain here how those price controls are a veiled form of government rationing that helped sink the Clinton health plan.
If anything, those price controls make the president’s new plan even more bureaucratic and government-heavy. The Senate bill would take an ill-advised stab at cost-control by imposing a tax on the highest-cost health plans. That president proposes to pare back that excise tax and instead have a panel of federal bureaucrats cap the growth in health insurance premiums for all health plans. Those new government powers could make it even harder for people to obtain the coverage and care that they need.
How bad is it? The CBO can't even score it and tell us the actual costs, which even the Dems say will be over a trillion in the next decade.
I heard Gingrich on Hannity today say that he believes the American people would go ballistic if they rammed this down our throats. That may be the case but the Republican's have got to distance themselves from everything in this bill. they can't go to the healthcare summit with OBama on Thursday and show any weakness. They must be stout and require that any bill include major tort reform, no new taxes and a pay go status. They must also tell Reid that no way will they be a part of any sweetheart deals like the one given Mary Landrieu and unions. If Obama doesn't play ball on all of these issues, they need to make a statement and walk out in front of the entire nation.
The American people want nothing to do with healthcare reform and the only ones who can represent us and defend the idea of an America governed by the people and for the people are the GOP. I'm not hopeful as they've shown they are experts at losing every advantage afforded them but one can be hopeful.

Blanche Lincoln Getting Trounced By Guy Not Even Running Yet
Sphere: Related ContentThe Democrats have used every non-sequitur, throwaway line and mumbled reason for Scott Brown winning in Massachusetts. They claim it means nothing, nothing at all, move along, nothing to see here.
They've been in overdrive claiming it's not really about health care, it's about the economy and people are upset. It's not their lame policies you see, they just don't know enough about it. Vote for socialized medicine and you'll see it's a really good thing. Hell, the Canadian system is awesome, just ask their elected leaders.
There are quite a few incumbents who supported Obama and voted for Obamacare who may want to call their offices, starting with Sen. Blanche Lincoln (D-AR):
John Boozman will enter the Arkansas Senate race this weekend as the frontrunner. He leads incumbent Blanche Lincoln by an amazing 56-33 margin in our first poll of the race.Note that most people don't even know who Boozman is and still he's winning. Essentially, some dude name Not Blanche Lincoln could run as long as he's a Republican and win by 20%.
Lincoln's approval rating has sunk to just 27%, with 62% of voters in the state disapproving of her. She's at a middling 51% even within her own party and just 17% of independents and 9% of Republicans are happy with how she's doing.
A look inside the health care issue gives a good indication of how Lincoln has managed now to get it from all sides. 61% of voters in the state oppose the President's plan, and among those folks Lincoln's approval rating is just 8% with 79%of them expressing the belief that she's too liberal.
Expect Sen. Lincoln to be coerced by a Ambassador posting in some exotic locale to get out of the race. Either that or have Obama campaign for her, he's been so successful in winning over Olympic voters, climate change zealots, Virginia voters, Massachusetts voters...

Taxachusetts Senate Race Update
Sphere: Related Content
Big news from the Peoples Republic this morning.
-Obama went yesterday and had a teleprompter mishap. He was heckled too.
-Intrade has Coakley down to 40% 35%.
-Typical liberal response to Coakley's floundering campaign...Blame Bush! Guys, Bush has been out of office for a year. Remember, you all had those stupid 1.20.09 stickers on your bumpers? Note that Patrick Kennedy gets her name wrong more than once.
-Jim Kramer predicts a huge rally on Wall Street if Brown wins.
-Expect the votes to be counted as slowly as possible if the initial results favor Brown. Also, expect many allegations of voter fraud, especially with the SEIU mobilizing.
-Inside the polling.
There's no way I can emphasize the importance of this election enough. A Brown win will not only energize the GOP throughout the nation but it will energize the Conservative base more than they already are (which is considerable). As Tapper notes, Coakley is a "canary in the coal mine" for the Democrats.
If we have any hope of winning back the nation and stopping the socialist Juggernaut, it starts here and now. The GOP will have to trend right and maybe this will give them the backbone to actually stand up for what is not only good for the country but what is right.
-Update: "I like my women blonde, my Johnny Walker black and my Democrats quivering."
Amen, brother.

Health Care Supporters Dropping Faster Than Democrat Candidates
Sphere: Related ContentThe latest is the Governator who after actually considering what the health care bill will entail decides that no, he won't be back:
In his annual “State of the State” message today, California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger withdrew his support for the health care reform measures Democrats are attempting to finish up in Washington, DC.Arnold, dude, you need better speech writers. "health care to nowhere?" Pathetic.
“While I enthusiastically support health care reform, it is not reform to push more costs onto states that are already struggling while other states get sweetheart deals,” the governor said.
The White House had in the past brought much attention to Schwarzenegger’s previous support for the effort.
“Health care reform, which started as noble and needed legislation, has become a trough of bribes, deals and loopholes,” Schwarzenegger said. “You’ve heard of the bridge to nowhere. This is health care to nowhere.”
Sorry for the slight digression but Schwarzenegger is realizing what many of us have been saying since the beginning of the debate; someone will have to pay. It's either the states or the feds but in both cases it's the citizens. Ahnuld got caught up in the liberal mindset that government revenue is his money to work with and forgot that it's money taken by force from workers and businesses. It's purely and simply tax money, which by definition is not money created by a good product or idea but taken under threat of prosecution from those who are the lifeblood of the country.
Perhaps if Arnie didn't have DiFi and Babs Boxer as his senators and was blessed with elected representatives with better political cunning (read smarter) who could have held out and got a deal like Ben Nelson did, his states' health care costs could be paid by wage earners in "clinger" states like Pennsylvania, Alabama or Oklahoma.

Obama's Lie After Lie After Lie After...
Sphere: Related ContentPoliticians still haven't caught on that every word they say is on the Internet, every appearance is archived and it's all a search engine click away.
Obama repeatedly said his administration would be the most "transparent ever" and repeatedly said that the healthcare debates and discussions would be available "on C-Span" and streaming on the net. Instead, we have backroom deals that funnel $300-million to Louisiana for one vote and millions to Nebraska to cover MediCare payments for another (a deal coming back to bite the recipient mind you).
Below we have video of Obama saying on numerous occasions that he would allow us to see the sausage being made when on the trail but now that it's crunch time it's all smoke-filled (figuratively, not literally because Granny Pelosi would never allow cigars anywhere near these talks) rooms and midnight votes.
Allah has fun busting on Robert Gibbs' squirming while trying to explain that the lies are in fact not lies.

Senator Reid Just Making Shit Up
Sphere: Related ContentThe Obama administration and Senate Democrats have been jerking off the public by talking about the largest entitlement program ever being "deficit neutral". This from the same regime that lost a ton on the Cash for Clunkers program (and didn't help the environment or the US worker) and just about every other scheme they've gotten their grubby hands on. Shockingly, they were lying in this one as well:
To describe the full amount of HI trust fund savings as both improving the government’s ability to pay future Medicare benefits and financing new spending outside of Medicare would essentially double-count a large share of those savings and thus overstate the improvement in the government’s fiscal position.
More here.
I know every administration cooks the books and plays with numbers but dude, the 0 administration has taken it to unseen heights. Ken Lay would have been embarrassed to try to pull something like this.
It's probably a done deal but there's always hope that the morons in the majority will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Saturday Morning News & Notes
Sphere: Related ContentSnow is paralysing the region from DC to South Jersey. It forced me to cancel a trip north for a holiday party and skiing but once on the road this morning it was evident it was not a good idea to drive anywhere. I'm a good driver in snow as I've been doing it my entire adult life but even I wasn't comfortable with the kids in the car.
Anyway, here's a view from my back door taken about 30 minutes ago and it only started coming down heavily an hour or so ago:
Here's what else is going on:
-The Democrats continue to meltdown. Healthcare has become the third rail of politics. The country hates the idea of Obamacare, the left in this country hates it for different reasons and now we have an intra-party schism that is destroying the coalition. Here we have a liberal slamming another liberal for being lackeys of the insurance companies. Savor the schadenfreude my friends, I know I sure as hell am:
-The vile Florida congressman Alan Grayson (D) is shamefully utilizing government resources to shut down free speech and potentially send a critic to jail. Remember when dissent was considered patriotic?
-That old curmudgeon Herb Denenberg rails against Congress and Obama. Someone definitely pissed in his oatmeal this morning.
-Shocker! The probe against Rep. John Murtha and other Dems ends without any findings. What a sham.
-Ex-Eagle and current Charger John Runyan is going all in and running for the seat in my district as a Republican. Note that the current occupant has been voting like a Republican in every single health care vote thus far as this district is deep red surrounded by a sea of blue. He's pretty good on the issues.
-Headline of the day:

Obama's Incredible Shrinking Poll Numbers
Sphere: Related ContentHow the mighty have fallen. In yet another example of this nation being center-right, we have Obama sinking at a faster rate then, well, anyone in recent memory. We must all be racists.
First from Pollster--an aggregate of The One's numbers:
Not good and Ace notes, the streams are about to cross.
At RCP, Obama is below 50% in the aggregate.
The latest CNN/Opinion Research has him two points under water (from eleven days ago and that's not taking in to account the latest in the health care debate) and Rasmussen has him 11.
This will only get worse when the health care bill is passed that I mentioned. That is polling at depths heretofore unseen. Hell, CNN has support for Obamacare at 36% for and 61% against.
What a meteoric rise and fall. I'm guessing there are a great many incumbents on the blue side that are shitting collective pants with predictions like these.

Thursday Night News and Notes
Sphere: Related ContentHey y'all.
I'm full of venom tonight as my boys I-pod was ripped off and so was my phone. Here's to hoping there's a special place in hell for thieves. Preferably where they have barbed implements jammed into orifices.
Anyway, here's what's going on:
-Our illustrious president was awarded a Nobel Peace Prize for, well, nothing. Here's what he said in his acceptance speech that I have to give him props for:
I make this statement mindful of what Martin Luther King Jr. said in this same ceremony years ago: "Violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones." As someone who stands here as a direct consequence of Dr. King's life work, I am living testimony to the moral force of non-violence. I know there's nothing weak -- nothing passive -- nothing naïve -- in the creed and lives of Gandhi and King."Evil does exist in the world"...many liberals don't ever comprehend that. Still a great many first person references but how does one make a speech for a an award one didn't deserve?
But as a head of state sworn to protect and defend my nation, I cannot be guided by their examples alone. I face the world as it is, and cannot stand idle in the face of threats to the American people. For make no mistake: Evil does exist in the world. A non-violent movement could not have halted Hitler's armies. Negotiations cannot convince al Qaeda's leaders to lay down their arms. To say that force may sometimes be necessary is not a call to cynicism -- it is a recognition of history; the imperfections of man and the limits of reason.
-Uganda has been swept up in a Muslim fervor and shariah law is the law of the land throughout much of the nation. The despotic regime is on the verge of passing legislation that would sentence homosexuals to death--all under the guise of stopping HIV. Libs went right for the blame the Evangelicals and neocons card but GOP representatives have come out against this vile action before Obama did.
-Oh Lord, we're putting the passage or failure of the healthcare fiasco in the hands of the Maine twins. Dude, Snowe better get her act together on this and not abandon who supported her.
-Got us a high-ranking al-Qaeda scumbag today. Not bin-Laden or Zawahiri but they have effectively been figureheads. The number three is the guy and hopefully it's who we targeted. Here's to hoping we slammed a Phoenix right into his left nostril. I'm so happy I want to be the first to say happy Nobel Peace Prize day!
-How pissed am I today? More pissed than Maynard was when he wrote this little ditty about LA washing into the Pacific and dreaming of swimming in Arizona Bay (NSFW or kids):

Will Harry Reid Give Up His Seat To Pass Obamacare?
Sphere: Related ContentIt's becoming more and more clear that Senate Majority Leader Reid is going to lose unless he changes his course quickly. Dropping his ravenous support of Obamacare would be the smart starting point to revive his sagging numbers:
"When you look at the entire poll, it's clear the voters of Nevada do not want this bill to pass," said Brad Coker, managing partner of Washington, D.C.-based Mason-Dixon Polling & Research Inc., which conducted the poll Monday through Wednesday. "When you break it all down, it appears that Nevadans would just as soon throw this bill out and start over."Speaker Nancy Pelosi is in the clear and she could pass the strictest and widest health care reform plan and still win. Her cheer leading only burnishes her credentials but not so much for Reid.
The poll carries a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.
Coker said the poll results aren't good news for U.S. Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., chief architect of the Obama supported plan. Only 39 percent of the poll respondents approve of Reid's efforts to get a bill through the U.S. Senate at a time when he's running for re-election.
Though 70 percent of Democrats support Reid's efforts, Coker said that probably isn't enough to outweigh the disapproval of 53 percent of independents and 87 percent of Republicans.
"Reid is going to be front and center carrying the flag for this reform that few people like and that's not going to help him in his re-election," Coker said. "You remember what happened historically to flag bearers in war. The flag bearer gets shot first."
Is Harry Reid such an ideologue that he would risk his seat, his career and the power he's amassed to pass a bill that the majority of Americans as a whole and Nevadans in particular hate? I'm guessing no but he has been pushing hard so we'll take a wait and see approach.

Dems Polling Numbers Continue Decline
Sphere: Related ContentWe saw this with Rassmussen who tends to be an early indicator of where things are going. Now we have the Daily Kos weekly poll showing a serious softening of support for the Dems:
The first indicator of potential peril is the right track-wrong track metric. With each passing day, the mood of the nation is going to be reflected on the current political leadership in Washington DC, rather than the transgressions and incompetencies of the past leadership. And the mood of the nation appears to be darkening, rather than growing more optimistic. After a meteoric rise in the opening few months of the new Obama administration (spelling corrected from original), the RT/WT metric now sits at its worst level in months (-17: 40/57).Also check out the numbers who say they will definitely vote among the GOP, Independents and Dems. Shocking to say the least.
Not sure of the sampling percentages but there are a whole bunch more Independents and Republicans than there were just a few months ago but I would imagine this poll is heavily weighted toward Dems as Kos always does, which should make the poll doubly disconcerting to the Democrats.
This also struck me with a full 20% more saying that they are happy with our current healthcare system than said so before Obama began talking up healthcare reform on the trail.
