Reason #5,609,203 to Scrap the UN

Sphere: Related Content

Like we need another reason. Be it the way they allow the despots of the world to run roughshod over human rights, the rapes of women they were sent to protect or the vile way they attack Israel at every opportunity, the UN has proven to be nothing more than a gathering of elites who care less about human rights every day and more about a free trip on the dime of the taxpayers back home to NYC.

Now we have what may be the most egregious act perpetrated by the gaggle of thugs and kleptocrats in that ugly building near the Mid-Town Tunnel:

Without fanfare, the United Nations this week elected Iran to its Commission on the Status of Women, handing a four-year seat on the influential human rights body to a theocratic state in which stoning is enshrined in law and lashings are required for women judged "immodest."
Perhaps they could ask Soraya M about the treatment of women in Iran...but she was stoned to death under a false charge of adultery so she's not currently available.

Perhaps we can ask Neda...But alas she was shot by the Ayatollah's henchmen while attending a rally protesting the stolen election.

What's next, appointing Iran and Gambia to the UN Council on Gay Rights? Probably not because as anyone who's been paying attention knows, Iran has no homosexuals according to Ahmadinejad.

The UN is nothing more than a place for human rights-denying regime's to make themselves look legitimate and the elites who run the upscale whorehouse--using huge amounts of US taxpayer money--slide deeper into the cesspool while leftists tell us what a great concept it is. Sorry, it's a refuge for the scummiest juntas and dictators and we should disband it, withdrawal or deports all those who do nothing more than take up parking spaces from hard-working New Yorkers.

The Continuing Incompetence of the UN

Sphere: Related Content

In the immediate hours after the devastating earthquake struck in Port-au-Prince, I paid close attention to how things ramped up and where the first response would come from. I knew the answer but thought maybe, just this once, the UN would actually live up to what their responsibilities. I was wrong of course.

The US military was put on alert and the USS Carl Vinson was dispatched to the region. The Marines and Army were tasked with the job of securing the airport so that relief flights could begin and the Air Force begin shipping supplies as soon as they could load. them. President Obama ordered a quick response and our men and women did what they've always done; left their families to help those in need.

NGO's such as Doctors Without Borders and the Red Cross ramped up fund raising efforts to meet the costs and demands and urban search and rescue teams from cities such as New York were organized and sent to assist in rescue efforts. Church groups who do the grunt work mobilized with hands-on assistance and money to alleviate what suffering they could.

While all this was happening, not once did I hear the letters UN muttered or see a single blue helmet on the streets of Haiti. All I've heard is the UN telling the US they want more when they themselves have had a presence on the island for decades and things have gotten progressively worse. Ban Ki-moon is going today and will only get in the way much as Hillary Clinton has done with her ill-advised photo-op. I say to them; take a step back and let the professionals handle it.

We are starting to see a response from other nearby nations whose communist leaders are hailed by American leftists such as Castro and Chavez but nothing that could rival what we do. Where for that matter are the Muslim nations such as Saudi Arabia and Indonesia who not long ago suffered a catastrophe on the same scale?

It's always Americans--our people, corporations and military--who respond without thinking twice. They give knowing that we can make a difference where no other nation can. It's events like this that just increase my level of pride in this nation and assuage the recently declining notion feeling that we are a country that is exceptional.

Saturday Night News & Notes

Sphere: Related Content

The word is it's going to be a nasty winter and based on the spring, summer and early fall we're seeing, I'm not betting against it. Should be a joy but hopefully the slopes open early this year.

Anyway, here's what's new in the world:

-This story made the rounds before and is probably being bandied about by his political rivals; Ahmadinejad is of Jewish stock. L'Chaim, Mahmoud.

-Unemployment is at 15-million. That's 9.8% or a number we've not seen since 1983 when Reagan was just beginning to pull us out of the mess created by four years of Jimmy Carter. The ACORN layoffs alone will put it over 10% by Christmas. BTW, taking into account real numbers, it's the highest since records were kept.

-Speaking of those out of work, remember when Obama said it woulkd never reach 8% if we passed the stimulus bill? Er...he was so way off:

-Alarmism: Ban Ki-Moon, Sec General of the UN instructs the world that we only have ten days to prevent climate doom. I'll take my chances. Moon should clean up his organization filled with rapists and thugs before he chastises us.

-Is Obama like Gorbachev? Now that's a funny one to ponder. The left remember Gorbi as the cool Soviet who would save the crumbling empire while the right remembers him as a dude who needed hi fat pulled out of the fire by a blithering Boris Yeltsin.

On the road again...

What's new y'all? The Phillies took two out of three from the Yankees and the weather was excellent.

Here's what's new in this crazy old world:

-Obama's next takeover target is the Internet. The car companies, the banks and now the ultimate nationalization--the World Wide Web. Imagine if George W. Bush had even so much as suggested this.

-Reaping what they sow: Big Ethanol against Big Environment.

-California high court upholds the will of the people for the most part. At least democracy has not been completely obliterated in Obamanation.

-Please just shut the UN. It's prime Manhattan land and the low-lives who congregate there can be moved to a place more up their alley...like, maybe, Bangkok.

-The rich bolt the Socialist Republic of Maryland in droves.

-Jim Marshall photographed the most iconic groups in rock history. Go spend some time looking at his work. These would be among my favorites:

What's up? No, I'm not writing about the Eagles losing to the Cardinals (the friggin' Cardinals...shoot me) so I'll link to doings around the Net:

Ace channels Mr. Blackwell (twice) and critiques Michelle Obama's lack of fashion sense. I suspect that numerous women will be wearing gold-hued mumu's anyday now. He's right, they picked apart Palin and skewered the Bush girls so turnabout is fair play.

Wall Street Journal targeted with envelopes containing white powder. Update: They also sent one to Alan Dershowitz and were sent from a Knoxville, TN address. (Via Instapundit)

It's probably not a good time to be affiliated with Fatah in the Gaza Strip right about now. But hey, they deserve a state of their own.

Wow, a UN-affiliated worker is caught with child porn an his way to Bangkok. I guess they've had to back away from overt rape and go for the more hidden type.

Israel/Gaza Thursday Update

Sphere: Related Content

Reporters--even those covering the battle--don't get it. That's because they've never understood the issues of the region as a whole and the Israel-Palestinian situation in particular. Perhaps that's why they are so quick to paint Israel as the aggressor every time the situation flares up.

The ground invasion preparations continue and the situation still remains fluid. Talk of a truce is ongoing but the Israeli's would be wrong to stop before taking out as much of the terrorist leadership as possible.

The IAF bombed a mosque being used to for rocket storage. The media will portray the IAF as heathens for bombing it just like they always do. The Arabs attacked Israel on its holiest day once and a Hamas once blew up innocent civilians during a seder but the biased media can't abide the IAF taking out a mosque that ceased being one once the terrorists hauled rockets into it. All in all, the IDF is using Internet-disseminated video to their advantage.

I feel so much better knowing the feckless UN is about to get involved. The international community has always been fair with regard to Israel.

To be clear, I'm not a supporter of bombing innocent women and children. Yet, when the Iranian-backed "government" in Gaza continues to bombard Israel with rockets that have no other purpose than to indiscriminately kill and situate those rockets in heavily populated residential areas, they deserve to answer to their fellow Palestinians exactly why they've adopted this tactic.

Israel has the latest weapons supplied by us and use the same doctrine we do: avoid civilian deaths at all costs.

Update: The IAF sent senior Hamas leader Sheikh Nizar Rayyan to meet Allah and enjoy his 72 virgins. The mission appears to be going according to plan.

Update: By the looks of this pic, it seems as though the Iranians are having problems resupplying Hamas. Perhaps they should ask Cynthia McKinney for assistance:

Those living in Israel always keep their sense of humor, Yisrael.

Environmental Court Sought

Sphere: Related Content

As with all international organizations-the UN, etc.--expect the proposed international environmental court to be nothing but another organization aiming for America:

Stephen Hockman QC is proposing a body similar to the International Court of Justice in The Hague to be the supreme legal authority on issues regarding the environment.

The first role of the new body would be to enforce international agreements on cutting greenhouse gas emissions set to be agreed next year.

But the court would also fine countries or companies that fail to protect endangered species or degrade the natural environment and enforce the "right to a healthy environment".
OK, sounds vague, let's start with China and work our way around to Russia and Saudi Arabia. I'm sure these high commissioners of the environment would be bold enough to fine China for the massive amounts of coal they use and their utter disregard for environmental stewardship.

When that happens, I'll support them.

Another Successful UN Operation

Sphere: Related Content

The Democrats are firm believers that we should defer to the United Nations on all things concerning our national security. We get attacked by Islamo-Fascist's their response is to go to the UN. Hell, John Kerry built his campaign on the issue in 2004.

Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of UN-led peace-keeping missions would note that they have never been helpful and in most cases end up making things much worse:

KIBATI, Congo - The refugees watched in anger as the U.N. tanks headed away from the battlefield and the Tutsi rebels they were supposed to be stopping.

"Where are they going? They're supposed to protect us!" shouted Jean-Paul Maombi, a 31-year-old nurse who had fled his village because of the violence. Nearby, young men hurled rocks at the U.N. troops.

The quick unraveling of the world's largest U.N. peacekeeping effort has come as no surprise to the mission's critics, who complain the force was unprepared for its main task - protecting civilians from the war.

Growing numbers of civilians are furious at the United Nations' failure to keep them safe. Angry Congolese have pelted rocks at all four U.N. compounds in the provincial capital of Goma, a city of 600,000 near the border with Rwanda.

On Wednesday, tens of thousands of residents, refugees and government soldiers fled in a chaotic torrent ahead of advancing rebels. A cease-fire appeared to halt most fighting yesterday in Goma.

Not only are UN "forces" cowards who retreat when facing even minimal opposition, they are also rapists who prey on young girls as standard operating procedure.

But have no fear, folks, A President Obama will likely defer to the UN to keep us safe. I for one will feel much better knowing that the UN is not only raping young girls in their name but doing it in our name as well.

With the proposed reduction of military funding of 25% or more, we'll need this roving band of misfits and thugs to ensure that the world is safe from less moral misfits and thugs. Why maintain the greatest fighting force the world has ever known--a military that has won a war many libs declared lost--when we can rely on the upstanding United Nations to carry the load?

World Notes Iraq Progress, Congress Not So Much

Sphere: Related Content

Come on Dems, do what JF Kerry said and pay heed to world opinion:

STOCKHOLM (AFP) — World leaders, including UN chief Ban Ki-moon and US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, on Thursday hailed Baghdad's progress in combatting violence and stabilising Iraq.

A declaration adopted by 100 delegations at a Stockholm conference said the participants "recognised the important efforts made by the (Iraqi) government to improve security and public order and combat terrorism and sectarian violence across Iraq."

It also acknowledged political and economic progress made, and said that "given the difficult context, these successes are all the more remarkable."
Emphasis mine. So we have 100 national delegations noting the progress made in Iraq and especially made by the Iraqi government but the Obama folks say that we are making no progress:

Obama spokesman Bill Burton fired back that it was "odd that Sen. McCain, who bought the flawed rationale for war so readily, would be lecturing others on their depth of understanding about Iraq."

Burton said Obama challenged President Bush's rationale for the war "from the start."

"Sen. McCain stubbornly insists on pursuing the failed Bush policy that continues to cost so much, while Sen. Obama believes it's time to begin a deliberate, careful strategy to remove our troops and compel the Iraqis to take responsibility for their own future."
It appears they are Mr. Burton, it appears they are.

When the Secretary General of the UN can no longer deny the successes we've had, shouldn't the United States House and Senate? Dare I say the Democrats are being unilateral?

Wait...Nancy Pelosi noticed and gives the credit to...Iran?

Reason 546,672,089 to Disband the UN

Sphere: Related Content

Most of the time it's pure and unadulterated anti-Semitism, other times it's anti-Americanism. This time it's that old UN standby:

The next UN investigator into Israeli conduct in the occupied territories has stood by comments comparing Israeli actions in Gaza to those of the Nazis.

Speaking to the BBC, Professor Richard Falk said he believed that up to now Israel had been successful in avoiding the criticism that it was due.

Professor Falk is scheduled to take up his post for the UN Human Rights Council later in the year.
Blah, blah blah. The friggin' Palestinians are killing each other and threatening to hit both Israel and Egypt while lobbing rockets into Sderot on a daily basis. But of course, according to the UN, it's Israel's fault and they'll send an avowed anti-Semite right in there to decide not who's at fault--Israel's at fault without question--but just how at fault they are.

Israel said screw it and belatedly gave the UN the finger:

The Foreign Ministry said Tuesday that it will not allow the United Nations official appointed to investigate Israeli-Palestinian human rights to enter the country, after he stood by comments comparing Israelis to Nazis. Richard Falk is scheduled to take up his post with the UN Human Rights Council in May, but the Foreign Ministry said it will deny Falk a visa to enter Israel, Gaza and the West Bank, at least until a September meeting of the council.
Hey, maybe Jimmah Carter, Kofi Annan and Nelson Mandela can do the guys dirty work. They plan on talking to Hamas and settling this issue. Well, that or selling Israel out even more which has been Carters M.O.

Demolish the hideous building, send the "ambassadors" to Geneva, put up some nice condos overlooking the East River and give NYC a few more rateables. Hell, the neighbors will be much more appealing than the dregs that attend sessions of the UN and hold up traffic on the east side.

Galloway Americans

Sphere: Related Content

British MP George Galloway and members of the UN were on the payroll of Saddam Hussein by his involvement in the Oil for Food scandal researched and reported on painstakingly by Claudia Rosett. Now we find that three Democratic members of the US Congress were treated to a trip to Baghdad thanks to Saddam's largess:

Saddam Hussein's intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.

The three anti-war Democrats made the trip in October 2002, while the Bush administration was trying to persuade Congress to authorize military action against Iraq. While traveling, they called for a diplomatic solution.

Prosecutors say that trip was arranged by Muthanna Al-Hanooti, a Michigan charity official, who was charged Wednesday with setting up the junket at the behest of Saddam's regime. Iraqi intelligence officials allegedly paid for the trip through an intermediary and rewarded Al-Hanooti with 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.

The lawmakers are not named in the indictment but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. None was charged and Justice Department spokesman Dean Boyd said investigators "have no information whatsoever" any of them knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.
So these three Democrats are either the stupidest politicians in history or were willing dupes. Either way, they acted as useful idiots for Saddam in the run-up to a justified war. They were a mouthpiece for a vile dictator who ignored every single UN resolution to force his nation to comply and used money that was supposed to be used for food procurement yet didn't know where the money came from?

Yeah, the Democrats have always been oily when it came to stopping us from going to war, now we find out that they are easily mislead and willing sheep as well.

Update: The Times telling us there's nothing to see here, move along.

More Proof That the UN is Irrelevant

Sphere: Related Content

Kosovo yesterday declared their independence amid threats from Russia and ethnic Serbs. I don't know enough about the Kosovars to say whether this is good or bad but in general, freedom is good for anyone.

The real story I saw in all this is that the Kosovars bypassed the UN and went right to the US and European leaders:

ill protected by 16,000 NATO-led peacekeepers, and the alliance boosted its patrols over the weekend in hopes of discouraging violence. International police, meanwhile, deployed to back up local forces in the tense north.

By sidestepping the U.N. and appealing directly to the U.S. and other nations for recognition, Kosovo's independence set up a showdown with Serbia — outraged at the imminent loss of its territory — and Russia, which warned that it would set a dangerous precedent for separatist groups worldwide.
The Russians are worked up because they know that if other areas see success, they to will eschew the UN and declare themselves free as well. This includes many Russia client states such as Georgia. I guess the Russians have never really stopped being Soviets, it's just in their collective DNA

I commend President Bush in recognizing the nascent state as it shows that he believes a predominantly Muslim population can be a free democracy. Let's hope they have the same idea. Still, the US military is at the forefront of helping another nation gain freedom from oppressors and that isn't a bad thing at all.

We'll wait and see how things progress but it is quite interesting that Kosovo saw the UN as an impediment and decided that UN approval just wasn't that important in the end. Another nail in the UN coffin perhaps.

Anti-Americanism: It's Not Just For Democrats Anymore

Sphere: Related Content

The editor in chief of Foreign Policy spews some serious anti-American sentiments in today's WaPo:

The world wants America back.

For the next several years, world politics will be reshaped by a strong yearning for American leadership. This trend will be as unexpected as it is inevitable: unexpected given the powerful anti-American sentiments around the globe, and inevitable given the vacuums that only the United States can fill.

This renewed international appetite for U.S. leadership will not merely result from the election of a new president, though having a new occupant in the White House will certainly help. Almost a decade of U.S. disengagement and distraction have allowed international and regional problems to swell. Often, the only nation that has the will and means to act effectively is the United States.
I find it interesting that Nicolas Sarkozy ran on a platform of a stronger alliance with America and President Bush and won. Angela Merkel of Germany has also allied herself with the US and W so the line of thought that Mr. Naim lays out is at least misleading if not outright false. The only leader with strong ties to the President who has lost is John Howard and that had as much to do with his being in power for more than a decade than anything else.

Let's continue:

Of course, the America that the world wants back is not the one that preemptively invades potential enemies, bullies allies or disdains international law. The demand is for an America that rallies other nations prone to sitting on the fence while international crises are boiling out of control; for a superpower that comes up with innovative initiatives to tackle the great challenges of the day, such as climate change, nuclear proliferation and violent Islamist fundamentalism. The demand is for an America that enforces the rules that facilitate international commerce and works effectively to stabilize an accident-prone global economy. Naturally, the world also wants a superpower willing to foot the bill with a largess that no other nation can match.
Now we're getting to the point. Mr. Naim wants an America that is as liberal as he is and one that cedes leadership to the thieving band of thugs that occupy offices in the UN building. He wants the assistance to continue but wants the checks signed by Obama, Edwards on Clinton instead of George W. Bush. He wants an America where we "foot the bill" for liberal causes like global warming. Note he doesn't mention Darfur, a curious omission being that it is the most pressing humanitarian crisis on the planet. Perhaps because he knows it would take a military invasion to save the oppressed and that invasion would of course be "preemptive".

Maybe Mr. Naim was in some resort like Bali attending a global warming summit when the US went to the UN and stated our case for taking out Saddam who had laughed at every UN resolution that was passed against his murderous regime. Or maybe he was enjoying the largess of Kofi Annan's son who was at the time taking money hand over fist from Saddam resulting in the starving of children in Iraq.

Sorry Mr. Naim, we have given tens of billions of dollars to fight AIDS in Africa and were critical to the recovery efforts in Indonesia after the tsunami. We're the same America we always were when it comes to helping the world but we've made the conscious decision to do it with selected allies and have decided to eschew the ineffectual and corrupt UN when doing it. And that is just what has Naim upset one suspects.

Bali Summary: If Monbiot is Upset, it Was Productive

Sphere: Related Content

Hardcore lefty George Monbiot is upset that the US negotiated a deal that was in our best interest. To people like Moonbat, the only thing that should be negotiated is what he thinks is best for the world, not individual nations.

Well guess who Moonbat blames for the failures he perceives? That's right, the Goracle:

Most of the other governments insisted that the cuts be made at home. But Gore demanded a series of loopholes big enough to drive a Hummer through. The rich nations, he said, should be allowed to buy their cuts from other countries. When he won, the protocol created an exuberant global market in fake emissions cuts. The western nations could buy "hot air" from the former Soviet Union. Because the cuts were made against emissions in 1990, and because industry in that bloc had subsequently collapsed, the former Soviet Union countries would pass well below the bar. Gore's scam allowed them to sell the gases they weren't producing to other nations. He also insisted that rich nations could buy nominal cuts from poor ones. Entrepreneurs in India and China have made billions by building factories whose primary purpose is to produce greenhouse gases, so that carbon traders in the rich world will pay to clean them up.
Now how sweet is this? Moonbat takes his swipes at Bush, which is to be expected. However, he saves his real venom for Al Gore and unloads with both barrels. I love when liberals fight amongst themselves, it's so...laughable.

Moonbat can't understand that not only are his proposals unattainable, but they would also be rejected by every major nation. In defense of Gore (it's kind of like a brother thing, I can smack Gore around all I want but no one outside the family can), he's trying to hammer out something realistic, something he can say to the country that we can achieve. Moonbat's plans would have been laughed out of Washington just as the Kyoto Protocols were.

More On The UN Global Warming Charade

Sphere: Related Content

What's the most hypocritical thing about the UN global warming conclave?

There's definitely a myriad of things to point out like the fact that the emissions created by the attendees is equal to that of 20,000 cars in a year or the fact that it could have easily been a success by using modern technology including video conferencing instead of flying from all over the world to rub elbows with other elitists. But don't worry, they'll plant a tree when they return home.

In most cases, you'd have a winner in each of those examples above, but not today.

No my friends, the greatest act of hypocrisy is something that is the antithesis of science: the suppression of dissenting viewpoints:

The United Nations has rejected all attempts by a group of dissenting scientists seeking to present information at the climate change conference taking place in Bali, Indonesia.

The International Climate Science Coalition (ICSC) has been denied the opportunity to present at panel discussions, side events, and exhibits; its members were denied press credentials. The group consists of distinguished scientists from Africa, Australia, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

The scientists, citing pivotal evidence on climate change published in peer-reviewed journals, have expressed their opposition to the UN’s alarmist theory of anthropogenic global warming.
The very basis of science is to be un-biased and open to new and radical thought. It wasn't all that long ago that a man said the world was round and was excoriated for it. Galileo proved it and it became accepted science.

The fact that those attending this conference are excluding alternate hypotheses says to me that they don't believe--or at the very least can't provide facts to back up--their own hypothesis.

Note also that reporters who would not print their press releases verbatim were banned as well.

Now I may be a "less educated" idiot when it comes to this global warming thing--even though I have two decades working in the environmental business--but I can clearly see that the UN and the global warming cabal know they have a good thing going and they don't want any unwashed heathen like myself to put a damper on it. The M.O. of the global warming cult is to squash any dissent by calling those who may actually want to see a few facts that support the man-made global warming theory "less educated". It's a typical liberal ploy in which they marginalize you as inferior or not capable of understanding their brilliance. Click the link above to see it in black and white. (Update: The link pointing to me has been deleted. That's against the blogger credo) It was not deleted, my bad.

As for the UN circle-jerk, hell, Rio and Bali (been there, beautiful place) are great places to get away and talk about the environment while eating and drinking on an expense account, why let some group of rabble-rousing sceptics rain on their parade?

Update: We have a winner for the single-most elitist comment of the week:

It's very hard for the public to understand that you come together with so many people to a very distant place and cause a lot of emissions, and at the same time talk about emission reductions,'' Artur Runge-Metzger, head of climate strategy for the European Commission, said yesterday in an interview in Bali, adding that he had offset his own emissions.
Emphasis mine. Ok, where to start? Let's start with first sentence; how incredibly condescending. The "public" are the people whose tax dollars you used to attend the ridiculous affair. The "public" is just not as smart Mr. Runge-Metzger and he was sure to let you know that now wasn't he. Here's a question for you, sir: why don't you explain it to me and everyone else--hell, draw pictures if you have to.

Second, note that he said he offset his emissions but doesn't say how and the lapdog reporter didn't ask. The emissions offset business is a sham and everyone knows it. This is a great example of the international Left in all their glory. Take a look folks, these are the people that John Edwards wants to emulate.

A Great Day for the Environment

Sphere: Related Content

Or not.

As I sit in my house, snow is falling and sticking.

But hey, the environmental do-gooders are out there protecting Gaia in their own special ways.

First we have an environmental circle jerk in Bali, Indonesia. Been there, nice place, great bars. I guess that would be why 10,000 environmentalists are converging on the beautiful island to talk about all things global warming--and to partake of the great night life. I guess a more symbolic place like Antarctica or Greenland never crossed their feeble minds:

The international community may have as little as a decade to bring greenhouse gases under control or risk catastrophic global warming that places millions of people at risk, warns a group of the world's leading climate scientists.

In a declaration released Thursday in Bali, Indonesia, where representatives from about 180 countries are attending a United Nations conference on climate change, the scientists say emissions need to peak and then start to decline within the next 10 to 15 years as a first step, and then be cut in half by 2050 from the level prevailing in 1990.
Reports are that upwards of 10,000 people are attending this event. It's a complete and utter farce and everyone except the hapless UN and the wining and dining attendees who have created more pollution in one week than some small nations knows it.

Next, we have an environmental coalition in Texas suing to stop a proposed wind farm--you know, 100% earth friendly electricity is not a good thing to these nosy idiots.

And finally, Congress is voting on things they nothing about...again.

As I said, it's snowing hard and I for one am going to turn every light on, leave my car running while in the driveway and consider buying a Hummer so I don't have to deal with this next year.

UN Grossly Inflates Worldwide HIV Numbers

Sphere: Related Content

The UN is expected to reduce the number of people they've estimated infected with the HIV virus by 7-million people. It seems the only numbers the UN doesn't inflate is the amount its bureaucrats made on the oil for food scam in concert with Saddam.
This is not insignificant as the US has pledged and delivered billions of dollars to African nations to try to treat HIV sufferers. That amount was based on the amount of people believed to be suffering. As liberals are wont to say about Iraq war funding, couldn't that money have been better spent on anti-poverty programs here at home? The UN lied, poor kids cried! The fact that it is a 100% preventable disease always seems to be forgotten as well.

The first question that should come to the mind of any sane person is what other numbers did they exaggerate? The UN is the international sale manager for global warming hysteria. If they could be so far off on HIV numbers, how far off are they for planetary destruction warnings.

Some people like this misguided soul here can't comprehend why we don't trust the UN. It's simple; they are anti-America, anti-Israel, anti-Capitalism, support the most despotic regimes on the planet, lie, steal, rape children and generally make matters worse wherever they intervene. In other words, the vaunted UN is useless. We give billions to the UN and they piss on us at every opportunity.

I'll make it simple for you libs; suppose you made $150 a week working at Starbucks and you were forced to pay $20 to a local group consisting of every conceivable class of people in town but they were only forced to pay $0.50. Now let's say that whenever a dispute came up between you and another member, the leader of the group always went against you regardless of right or wrong. You're the rich one so you are always wrong. Let's further imagine that you were in charge of the anti-crime board for this organization but were forced out and replaced by the local Crips leader. Your friend (let's call him Yitzak) who lives in a small, yet nice house in the middle of the largest crime area in town is struggling to hang on amidst the daily attacks on himself and his family by the Crips and their enemies the Bloods. Every time Yitzak calls for protection and redress, he not only doesn't receive it but is excoriated and told it is him who is the problem. Let's go on and imagine that the leaders (we'll call him Coffee Amman) son gets rich off a scam that your money is supporting.
In a nut shell, that's why us "wing-nuts" abhor the UN.

Bolton Unleashed

Jay Nordlinger reviews John Bolton's new book, Surrender is not an Option. It looks like a must read.

There are many reasons I like Bolton and this would be one of them:

While at State in the first GWB term, Bolton gave a speech in Seoul that told the truth about North Korea. For this, the Norks called him the “envoy of evil.” Bolton took great pleasure in that. Indeed, he took pleasure in subsequent epithets, too: The Norks further called him “human scum”; and some Chávezite, in Venezuela, called him a “sinister figure.” In his book, Bolton revels in all this.

His “happiest moment” at State was “personally ‘unsigning’ the Rome Statute that created the International Criminal Court (ICC).” He says, “The reaction from the High Minded was entirely predictable, but my only regret is that we didn’t unsign more bad treaties, like Kyoto and the CTBT [Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty] . . .” That’s Bolton.
If Bolton were to join the Presidential race right now, he would be the immediate number two if not take over the lead. He's the guy we all hoped Fred Thompson would be but, alas, that Thompson has yet to materialize.
