The Great Global Warming Swindle Unraveling Continues

Sphere: Related Content

This blog has been discussing the Great Global warming Swindle for half a decade and the speed with which it's become farce is astounding. in 2009 I discussed just what a scam this was. The US has spent insane amounts of money (but not nearly as much as the Aussies) for nothing more than developing some street cred with the Euros.

But man are we seeing massive amounts of proof that this was indeed a sham from the beginning:

A chilly Arctic summer has left nearly a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same time last year – an increase of 60 per cent.
The rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.
Instead, days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores.
That's near record numbers that haven't been seen in a long time. In fact, if you read the entire article, the BBC predicted that summer Arctic ice would be completely gone by...2013.

Of course our intellectual betters are beside themselves trying to figure out how this can be and still claim to the charade they are 95% sure that global warming is man-made. This is up from 90% previously because they want us to know that the extra 5% is important when it comes to this super-exact science that has made them millions.

How deeply ingrained is this in the brains of liberals? So much that Bill Moyers linked a piece on global warming being the cause of the Syrian civil war. It's as close to religion as any liberal will ever get and they are second only to the Taliban and al-Qaeda when it comes to guarding against apostasy.

The planet has been cooling for a decade, the high seas and massive unrest following global warming didn't happen and all of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth was bullshit. It was a vehicle for him to profit while stealing money from corporations under the guise of protecting the environment.

In Australia and parts of Europe, they squandered enormous amounts of treasure for nothing. There was no reduction and with the windfall we're seeing from fracking and the subsequent reduction in carbon to 1992 levels, we've done it all without government assistance. in fact government is standing in the way.

Remember all the liberal idiots who excoriated George W. Bush because he was supposedly anti-science? It's funny now that the overwhelming scientific facts are proving that global warming was, well, just weather, that liberals are regrouping and redoubling their efforts even though the facts are now on the other side.

Global Warming hits South Jersey

A little bit of climate change right here in South Jersey:

The second biggest storm in history. Is Al Gore staying in Philly? No hiding this lack of decline.

That's a six-foot fence BTW.

Monday Night News and Notes

Sphere: Related Content

Here's what's new in the world:

-Not only "hiding the decline": hiding the data.

-Courtney Love loses legal control of her 17-year old daughter. It seems about 17-years too late as she's probably really screwed up after being raised by that friggin' skank.

-If I still lived in California, I'd be embarrassed that I was represented by Babs Boxer. That said; I live in New Jersey and am represented by idiots Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez so I guess I can't talk too much.

-Sweeeeet!

-I know proving Al Gore wrong is fish in a barrel easy but the UK press seems to enjoy it immensely:

In his speech, Mr Gore told the conference: “These figures are fresh. Some of the models suggest to Dr [Wieslav] Maslowski that there is a 75 per cent chance that the entire north polar ice cap, during the summer months, could be completely ice-free within five to seven years.”

However, the climatologist whose work Mr Gore was relying upon dropped the former Vice-President in the water with an icy blast.

“It’s unclear to me how this figure was arrived at,” Dr Maslowski said. “I would never try to estimate likelihood at anything as exact as this.”

Mr Gore’s office later admitted that the 75 per cent figure was one used by Dr Maslowksi as a “ballpark figure” several years ago in a conversation with Mr Gore.

Awesome. The Goracle is getting grilled for his scamming and now is pretty much looking like an f-ing moron on a daily basis versus the usual weekly basis.

Media Starting to Question Global Warming "Science"

Sphere: Related Content

The USA Today has gone off the media reservation and actually dares to look at the veracity of those who push the global warming issue without taking into account the science that says it may not be carbon that's causing it or that it may not be happening at all:

Could the best climate models -- the ones used to predict global warming -- all be wrong?

Maybe so, says a new study published online today in the journal Nature Geoscience. The report found that only about half of the warming that occurred during a natural climate change 55 million years ago can be explained by excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. What caused the remainder of the warming is a mystery.

"In a nutshell, theoretical models cannot explain what we observe in the geological record," says oceanographer Gerald Dickens, study co-author and professor of Earth Science at Rice University in Houston. "There appears to be something fundamentally wrong with the way temperature and carbon are linked in climate models."
This is blasphemy on a grand scale and while Gaia might not strike down author Doyle Rice, he'll be a target for Saint Al Gore who will not let anything that endangers his empire built on lies go unanswered upon.

The global warming swindler's--enabled by a compliant media--have been ramming carbon/warming data down our throats for a decade now and have effectively silenced any opposing viewpoints. The facade is starting to crumble now as people are experiencing colder springs and summers and not seeing rising oceans and environmental catastrophe that was supposed to happen 2-months, 2-years or 2-decades out.

Yes, I know weather is not climate but when it happens over a course of years it becomes a trend.

Are the Lights Going Out on Global Warming?

Sphere: Related Content

Global warming hysteria has always been media-driven instead of science driven. The media was complicit in essentially writing talking points into their reporting that were spoon fed by the global warming lobby. It fit the meme well; reduced fuel usage, increased pressure on industry and a nice, handy club with which to beat the GOP with.

But as people started paying attention, the facts started to come out and they sure didn't jibe with what the media was saying. people sitting through a brutal winter and cooler summers started looking at the data and it didn't add up. Eventually they realized that Al Gore and his ilk were full of hot air, not the atmosphere.

We have further proof that the glory days of "climate change" are close to over:

As they claw and scratch to round up enough votes to pass a climate bill, House Democrats had a seeming ace in the hole: former Vice President Al Gore.

But a planned news conference with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Mr. Gore, scheduled for Thursday afternoon, was quietly scrapped with just a few hours notice.

Mr. Gore, the Nobel laureate and star of “An Inconvenient Truth,” the Oscar-winning documentary on climate change, has long been a bit of a lightning rod when it comes to climate issues. And, with the speaker’s office growing more confident the climate bill will pass, a Democratic official said it was decided that, instead of a news conference, Mr. Gore should quietly contact lawmakers one-on-one from his home in Tennessee.

Mrs. Pelosi told reporters, somewhat cryptically, on Thursday that “it’s a question of what was energy efficient for the vice president.”

Even with the Democrats’ increased confidence, the vote on the climate bill, which could happen as early as Friday, is still expected to be close. Representative Henry Waxman, the California Democrat who chairs the House energy panel, already negotiated this week to make the bill more palatable to moderate and farm-state Democrats.
Blue Dog Dems and liberal Republicans are realizing just what "cap and trade" will mean and they don't want to have to explain an affirmative vote to their constituents who will see their monthly bills rocketing upwards in a recession.

Given my choice, I'd much rather see the health care bill go down but this bill will harm American business in ways we can't even fathom. The increased cost and onerous regulatory scheme will force what remaining industry we have offshore and cost us tens or hundreds of thousands of jobs.

I hope you all have a good holiday. Whether it be finding the matzoh or eating the ears off a chocolate bunny or peep, enjoy.

Here's what's news:

-A documentary that rebuts Al Gore is about to be released. Let's push for wide-spread acclaim. Meanwhile, in spite of those pesky facts, the WaPo continues to beat the global warming drum.

-Last week Obama embarrassed the entire nation by bowing to Saudi King Abdullah. Today, the White House apologist's at Time say it wasn't a big deal. Time is quickly surpassing the NY Times as the ultimate suck-ups to the administration.

-A huge carbon footprint for pizza:

When you're the president of the United States, only the best pizza will do - even if that means flying a chef 860 miles.
Chris Sommers, 33, jetted into Washington from St Louis, Missouri, on Thursday with a suitcase of dough, cheese and pans to to prepare food for the Obamas and their staff.

He had apparently been handpicked after the President had tasted his pizzas on the campaign trail last autumn.
-Stanley Crouch takes on Mos Def and severely eviscerates him.

Update: Glenn Reynolds has a great idea.

My house was ablaze since I figured the idiots who actually participated in this charade compensated for my increased use. I allowed a weed growing in my lawn to live so I figure I have a neutral carbon footprint. I'm not happy about that at all.

Global Warming "Facts" Melting, Ice is Not

Sphere: Related Content

Supporters of the Great Global Warming Swindle are always quick to point out any little detail that buttresses their claims in spite of the fact that most people can see the data is greatly flawed. Today, via Instapundit, we have this huge mistake admitted by one of the foremost cited agencies by Global Warmenist's:

"The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) has been at the forefront of predicting doom in the arctic as ice melts due to global warming. In May, 2008 they went so far as to predict that the North Pole would be ice-free during the 2008 'melt season,' leading to a lively Slashdot discussion. Today, however, they say that they have been the victims of 'sensor drift' that led to an underestimation of Arctic ice extent by as much as 500,000 square kilometers. The problem was discovered after they received emails from puzzled readers, asking why obviously sea-ice-covered regions were showing up as ice-free, open ocean. It turns out that the NSIDC relies on an older, less-reliable method of tracking sea ice extent called SSM/I that does not agree with a newer method called AMSR-E. So why doesn't NSIDC use the newer AMSR-E data? 'We do not use AMSR-E data in our analysis because it is not consistent with our historical data.' Turns out that the AMSR-E data only goes back to 2002, which is probably not long enough for the NSIDC to make sweeping conclusions about melting. The AMSR-E data is updated daily and is available to the public. Thus far, sea ice extent in 2009 is tracking ahead of 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, so the predictions of an ice-free north pole might be premature."
Emphasis mine.

So who used their data?

How about head GW Swindlest Al Gore who received a "private briefing" in 2007. NSIDC actually raved about Gore's sham of a documentary An Inconvenient Truth and gushed:

Arctic sea ice is something NSIDC watches carefully, especially because of its effect on global climate.
Evidently not as careful as they would lead us to believe as that statement is from 2006, one of the years that they have had to now back away from because of this embarrassing discovery showing their absolute ineptness and lazy attention to detail. As of this moment, all of their data must be called into question.

Others have been paying closer attention that I and have noted some mysterious goings on that have now been explained.

Global Warming Places Last on Priorities List

Sphere: Related Content

I mentioned yesterday that more people now think global warming is naturally occurring and not man-made as has been pushed by the global warming lobby. I also mentioned that Al Gore was "losing hearts and minds" when it came to the global warming issue. It seems I was a little too reserved in my assessment:

That's amazing to say the least. The global warming swindle perpetrated by those who were looking to cash in has been a monumetal bust. One can easily see why the economy and jobs would rank at the very top but I find it interesting that terrorism is third considering we have not been hit and the media downplayed it significantly during the election.

Only 3 out of every 10 people now rank global warming as a priority and that's simply because people are getting the facts and seeing through the cheap facade constructed by those who subscribe to the theory.

Think about what a catastrophic result this is for Al Gorites; immigration, lobbyists and "moral decline" all placed well ahead of global warming. I'm guessing that global warminests overplayed their hands by predicting rising oceans, melting ice, balmy temperatures in places like Minnesota and all around calamity. In other words, they played the scare card and it backfired dramatically. All it takes is for people to step outside and feel the sub-zero temps or slip on the ice to know it's a bunch of bullshit.

Exit question: Would this be vindication for those of who signed The List?

The Changing Global Warming Battle

Sphere: Related Content

It seems that Al Gore is losing hearts and minds when it comes to perpetuating the global warming swindle:

Forty-four percent (44%) of U.S. voters now say long-term planetary trends are the cause of global warming, compared to 41% who blame it on human activity.

Seven percent (7%) attribute global warming to some other reason, and nine percent (9%) are unsure in a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey.
The consensus has been trending that way and now people are finally getting their info from sources other than the MSM. Temperatures have been trending down for a decade and, as I posted earlier, the ocean temperatures have gone down as well. Granted, it's winter and a brutal one at that and the results may reverse when it's 95 in August but I think us sceptics are finally getting through the flack thrown in our way by those making who've created an industry around the issue.

There's still a lot of work to do as people still believe that global warming is occurring, at least the bulk of people are now blaming someone other than industry and autos for it.

I still am a believer in the fact that we need to increase fuel economy and seek out alternative means of producing electricity and fueling vehicles because of our foreign dependence on fossil fuels--a condition that will lead to further entanglements. Yet we also need to increase domestic production of natural gas, crude and push for a new generation of nuclear production.

Perhaps now we can stop seeing Al Gore's hideous mug all over the place.

These are baby steps but steps in the right direction all the same.

Al Gore's Green Ball

Sphere: Related Content

Al Gore's having a "green ball" in honor of Obama's inauguration. Forgetting the fact that a "green ball" sounds like something you'd contract in the rain forest, let's see who the sponsors for this event are.

Well, you have all the companies and advocacy groups one would expect like Earth Justice and Eco America but I saw some companies I wasn't quite sure would be considered "green" such as:

WalMart: The company that has been the whipping boy for liberals for years on all issues from union-busting to environmental. They eliminate jobs, are a bane on the environment and are just plain bad corporate citizens according to libs. I guess every other good company was bankrupt so they crawled on hands and knees to get WalMart to pony up some dough.

Dow Corning: Hmmm...they have 14 sites currently listed as active Superfund sites. Granted, they've done a hell of a job of cleaning them up as have most American companies yet the "green" coalitions have been unfair to the point of idiocy in pointing out how horrible these types of corporations have been. I know for a fact that Dow-Corning has been at the forefront of cleaning up impacted sites and are industry leaders but they seem out of place here.

Ted's Montana Grill: Now maybe it's just me mis-remembering but wasn't it environmental groups who slammed McDonalds for use of beef and the subsequent--yet unverified claim--that rain forests were being plowed under for grazing land? Ted's grill has a hell of a lot of beef on it. Plus, aren't cows the main culprits in producing methane--a supposed global warming gas? How can Al justify taking money from a company that contributes to "climate change". I'm as carnivorous and capitalist as anyone but they profit from a business that directly contributes to methane emissions so they must be bad in Gore's eyes, right?

PG & E: Wasn't it less than a decade ago that PG & E was hated because of environmental pollution from their facilities? I believe Erin Brockovich became a household name because of it. Now they are the sponsors of an inaugural ball that highlights "green" policies? They use either fossil fuels like natural gas and coal or nuclear power to generate 68% of the power they distribute.

Now don't get me wrong, every single one of the above-listed companies has environmental policies in place that exceed policies of most nations. American businesses have been and remain the world leaders in environmental stewardship with regard to air emissions, water quality, hazardous waste disposal and spill response. Most probably emit lower amounts of carbon company-wide than Al Gore's house does.

I just find it amusing that when it comes to money to sponsor an event like this, Al Gore is willing to swallow his pride be extremely hypocritical and bring in any one who picks up the tab while a very recently, his compadres in the Great Global Warming swindle have been berating these companies or products for being un-green.

As with everything else in Al Gore's world; do what I say, not what I do and pony up the shekels when he comes calling.

Here's the hideously-named Green Ball Blog commemorating the event.

Exit thought: I had a certain song running through my head as I wrote this post.

Does the AP Have Any Credibility Left on Global Warming?

Sphere: Related Content

Short answer, no...on any topic

Today they published the single most alarmist global warming piece I've read. Read this if you can stomach it:

"We need to start in January making significant changes," Gore said in a recent telephone interview with The Associated Press. "This year coming up is the most important opportunity the world has ever had to make progress in really solving the climate crisis."

Scientists are increasingly anxious, talking more often and more urgently about exceeding "tipping points."

"We're out of time," Stanford University biologist Terry Root said. "Things are going extinct."

U.S. emissions have increased by 20 percent since 1992. China has more than doubled its carbon dioxide pollution in that time. World carbon dioxide emissions have grown faster than scientists' worst-case scenarios. Methane, the next most potent greenhouse gas, suddenly is on the rise again and scientists fear that vast amounts of the trapped gas will escape from thawing Arctic permafrost.

The amount of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere has already pushed past what some scientists say is the safe level.
And on and on and on...

The piece could have been written by Al Gore himself and gives zero credence to sceptics. Plus, we have this little trick: temps are dropping but it's because of global warming. Check out the pretzel logic:

Mother Nature, of course, is oblivious to the federal government's machinations. Ironically, 2008 is on pace to be a slightly cooler year in a steadily rising temperature trend line. Experts say it's thanks to a La Nina weather variation. While skeptics are already using it as evidence of some kind of cooling trend, it actually illustrates how fast the world is warming.

The average global temperature in 2008 is likely to wind up slightly under 57.9 degrees Fahrenheit, about a tenth of a degree cooler than last year. When Clinton was inaugurated, 57.9 easily would have been the warmest year on record. Now, that temperature would qualify as the ninth warmest year.
The inconvenient truth--to borrow a phrase I heard somewhere--is that the planet has been cooling for much of the decade and that sunspot activity was responsible for the increases seen before. Once the activity ceased, temperatures decreased.

What global warming hysterics fail to recognize is that most people believe that yes, the planet was warming, but no, it was not man-made.

It's well past time to take a pin to the warminists balloon of rhetoric and hot air and take a common sense approach to the environment. Emissions of soot, illegal dumping of hazardous waste and discharging harmful effluent into streams is the greater danger and one that will have immediate impact to developing nations. But alarmists like Gore and the AP won't report on that because they can't blame the US. We have our emissions and disposal issues in check and have strict laws regulating them. Besides, stories of hazardous waste are so 1980 and don't lead to unearned Nobels and Pulitzers anymore. Global warming makes it easy to blame the US and you don't need a shred of proof, plus you can say cool shit like "cooling is actually another example of the danger of warming" and uneducated morons believe it. It doesn't even have to make sense to get the idiots who believe this bullshit to eat it up.

Unfortunately, one of those people appears to be the President-elect. If he thinks the bailout costs alot, wait'll he sees how much joining a Kyoto-like pact would cost. China will make billions and we'll lose trillions.

Global Warming: Anatomy of a Worldwide Swindle Part 1

Sphere: Related Content

Years from now, college classes will look back at the rise of global warming as an issue that swept across the planet. They will examine how a frightening few developed a strategy to make an unproven issue into one of the biggest issues facing the world and became one of the most-costly mistakes in modern times.

Let's go back and examine just how this issue came to become gospel to many throughout the world.

Back in the late 1960's, it became evident that we had serious environmental problems. For decades, the world had not been good environmental stewards disposing of sewage, chemical waste and other byproducts of a burgeoning industrial age wherever was convenient at the time. Industrial effluent was discharged to the nearest body of water with no thought of what would happen downstream. We buried drums of hazardous waste in any available landfill or created them for just such a purpose. At Love Canal, NY, 27,000 tons of highly toxic, corrosive and flammable waste was buried in the remnants of the canal the town was named for. There existed no laws dictating what the proper disposal techniques should be.

The US took the initiative and passed the initial Federal Water Quality Control Act (amended as the Clean Water Act in 1977), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Clean Air Act. Eventually the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (also known as Superfund) was passed and we started to get a handle on our hazardous waste disposal and emissions problems. Note that the majority of the legislation was signed by a Republican president.

The environment became a major focus of most Western governments as it should have but environmental awareness was long in coming in Eastern nations--especially those under the oppressive thumb of the Soviet Union. We worked to clean up the mess we had made and environmental awareness was at an all-time level. Corporations were fined for mishandling waste and people who broke the laws went to jail. Industry soon got the message that being a good environmental steward was the only option. We were at a point where we had a nice agreement between industry, government and consumers.

Enter the environmental coalitions who found themselves left out in the cold. They lost cache and were essentially ignored. That was unacceptable to them and they needed a new issue. At roughly the same time, a small uptick in global temperatures was recorded by weather scientists that could easily be explained as an anomaly or a cyclical increase when compared to historical data. But environmentalists looked at the data and misconstrued it. They started making noise about holes in the ozone layer and they paid scientists to write stories about impending doom if the issue was not rectified. Newspapers started reporting on the story and they were given gravitas way beyond what was warranted. They were relevant again and people stopped ignoring them.

But how to keep the public interested? How to maintain their position as the go-to people on environmental issues? How to keep their name in the papers? They had one choice; ratchet up the rhetoric and make the issue one in which everyone would made aware and become believers. It was a strategy that called for propaganda and that was easy with a compliant media. They belittled scientists who disagreed with their findings as frauds and worse, pawns of the political right. Grant money flowed to those who wrote studies showing catastrophic and irreversible damage to the planet within one, ten or fifty years. As every new report was released, the dire consequences of inaction were said to be so destructive as to inundate every major coastal city. Those who took a contrarian approach saw grant money dry up like the dust bowl during the early part of last century. Voices who were even remotely sceptical or who showed the flawed thinking for what it was, shoddy science, were quickly buried under an unstoppable torrent of bad press and were not given any credible press outside of the blossoming Internet.

Enter Al Gore. The former VP glommed onto the issue and to the world left and the press (but I'm redundant) they had a voice that would seal the deal. He made a video that was adamant that global warming was man-made, possibly unstoppable and could not be dispelled.

More later.

Putting the Global Warming Myth On Ice

Sphere: Related Content

Global warming hysterics have been screaming for years about the nightmare world that awaits us anywhere from ten to one hundred years from now if we don't start controlling carbon dioxide emissions asap.

Interestingly, it seems there's a definite shift in sentiment away from the enviroloons to some more rational thinking:

It has plagued scientists and politicians for decades, but scientists now say global warming is not the problem.

We are actually heading for the next Ice Age, they claim.

British and Canadian experts warned the big freeze could bury the east of Britain in 6,000ft of ice.

...And what's more, the experts blame the global change on falling - rather than climbing - levels of greenhouse gases.

Lead author Thomas Crowley from the University of Edinburgh and Canadian colleague William Hyde say that currently vilified greenhouse gases – such as carbon dioxide – could actually be the key to averting the chill.
These guys are not some scrubs just throwing numbers out there in attempts to scare people and cash in (paging Al Gore), no, they are respected members of the scientific community who have been studying the data and have drawn the above conclusions. You know, actually looking at it realistically and scientifically.

No wonder they changed it from "global warming" to "climate change", now they can say this coming ice age is man made and caused by "climate change" as well and start cashing in on the other side. Yet, it sure will be fun to see Al Gore trying to make his case when half of Great Britain is taking dog sleds to work and trying to plant crops in ice.

Exit question: Does this mean Newsweek will have to apologize for believing the global warming hype after apologizing for their global cooling piece from the 1970's?
