AP Still Pushing the Global Warming Scam

Sphere: Related Content

Anyone who's been paying any sort of attention knows that the Great Global Warming Swindle fell apart back when thousands of emails were released where such terms as "hide the decline" were prominent. Is the earth warming? Perhaps although data is inconclusive and even seems to show the temperature globally going down in the last decade. But it sure as hell doesn't appear to be caused by man or our inventions.

Still, the AP's environmental "expert" can't seem to let it go because, just like Al Gore, his job relies on perpetuating the myth. Here he is telling us about a report from another agency that relies on continuation of panic and finds that the west coast will see massive sea rising:

The study by the National Research Council gives planners their best look yet at how melting ice sheets and warming oceans associated with climate change will raise sea levels along the country's Pacific coast. It is generally consistent with earlier global projections, but takes a closer look at California, Oregon and Washington.

Interestingly, I can't find anything from the above writer detailing the stunning change in opinion of the so-called "Godfather of the Environmental Movement" James Lovelock. Lovelock posited many of the theories taken as gospel by global warming climate change adherents. But as any scientist worth their salt can tell you, original theories are just that and facts may change the original thinking. It sure has in Mr. Lovelock's case:

Having observed that global temperatures since the turn of the millennium have not gone up in the way computer-based climate models predicted, Lovelock acknowledged, “the problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago.” Now, Lovelock has given a follow-up interview to the UK’s Guardian newspaper in which he delivers more bombshells sure to anger the global green movement, which for years worshipped his Gaia theory and apocalyptic predictions that billions would die from man-made climate change by the end of this century.

Granted, Mr. Lovelock still believes that the planet is warming and we must reduce emissions but he is a true man of science who revised his potion once more facts came to light and his predictions didn't pan. Instead, we have an over-reaching EPA led by Lisa Jackson slowly but surely trying to change businesses and redistribute our money based on theories even Mr. Lovelock now disputes.

I leave you with one last quote by Lovelock:

“It just so happens that the green religion is now taking over from the Christian religion,” Lovelock observed. “I don’t think people have noticed that, but it’s got all the sort of terms that religions use … The greens use guilt. That just shows how religious greens are. You can’t win people round by saying they are guilty for putting (carbon dioxide) in the air.”

Amen, brother.

The Legacy of Rachel Carson

Sphere: Related Content

Back in the early seventies, Rachel Carson wrote Silent Spring and the book caused the use of DDT to be curtailed or banned. DDT was a potent pesticide that killed mosquitoes and was highly effective in tropical areas where mosquito-borne disease was rampant. In the years since, an estimated 30-million have  died because of those diseases, mainly malaria.

Carson hypothesized that DDT was harming animals and potentially humans and particularly she guessed that the decline in bald eagles was due to DDT causing eggs to be more fragile. The environmental movement used the symbol of America to reduce and ultimate stop completely the use of the chemical.
This was the first instance in which unproven science was used to attack chemical corporations on a large scale and also sentence millions of children to a preventable death.

Ironically, that same environmental movement is today causing the deaths of thousands of raptors including eagles:
"The greatest threat to migrating birds in my lifetime is unfolding in those mountains," said Jesse Grantham, former California condor coordinator for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. "As for condors, strikes are inevitable. They travel together when a food source appears, so a single turbine blade could take out a lot of them in one swing."
The irrational fight against "climate change" has led us to wind power, which is not exactly proven as a carbon reducer and directly threatens species that have been brought back from the brink by reduced hunting and public knowledge. The California Condor was considered a prime example of rescuing struggling avian populations and now they face a new threat thrust upon them by a radical environmental lobby that acts first (and procures federal tax dollars) before fully investigating the consequences. Kinda sounds like Obamacare in my opinion.

So, here we are, 50 years since Rachel Carson started the movement and we have regressed to the point that that same movement is giving back substantial gains all in the name of reducing a gas all of us exhale hundreds of times per day.

Irony doesn't begin to express it.

Weekly Friday Solyndra Document Dump

Sphere: Related Content

In what is becoming a weekly tradition, the Obama administration released a bunch of docs related to the boondoggle that is Solyndra. If we actually had a press that cared lived up to their name, we'd have known about these for awhile but, alas, instead of this being Obama's Enron it's instead a weekly drip, drip, drip of incriminating evidence to those in Congress doing what the media isn't.

This week we find out that the WH was in cover your ass mode when it became clearly evident that the company Obama touted as the future of "green tech" was indeed about to tank after burning through half a billion dollars:
Several key White House offices were involved with the Obama administration’s messaging plans and other preparations as the collapse of the taxpayer-backed solar company Solyndra was imminent, newly released documents show.

The latest White House documents delivered to House Republicans on Friday again highlight the extent to which senior administration officials braced for the fallout as Solyndra – a company President Obama had personally visited – was about to go under.
A White House memo that noted the danger of “imminent bankruptcy” at the end of August 2011 says, “OMB, DPC and NEC have been working with press and OLA to be prepared for this news to break.”
Acronym translation: OMB is the Office of Management and Budget, DPC is the Domestic Policy Council, NEC is the National Economic Council and OLA is the Office of Legal Affairs.

The document, an update on Solyndra’s $535 million Energy Department (DOE) loan guarantee, notes that $527 million had been disbursed and that DOE believed no more funds should be allotted.
Hey, I'm glad they finally decided that they needed to stop disbursement of that 1% after they blew threw the other 99% without any scrutiny. That's our tax money protectors doing their job with a laser like focus on protecting American citizens money they were entrusted with.

Previous documents show that Solyndra was failing for months and the regime kept doing what liberals do with any program they care about...propping it up with more tax dollars. Insolvency is bad but a wholly progressive idea being shown as both a sham and a boondoggle is far worse to the Obamatons.

Climate Change Debunked Everywhere But Newsweek

Sphere: Related Content

Newsweek magazine was forced to retract a 1975 article in which they did a whole issue on global cooling and the world havoc that would result from it. This from a magazine that published a false story about flushing a Koran down a toilet that led directly to deaths.

With the rest of the world seeing clearly that global warming "science" is widely skewed and realizing that they've spent billions of dollars that could have been better spent on helping their own citizens, Newsweek remains firmly in the global warming cocoon.

Walter Mead explains, in-depth, how the last gasps of the global warming swindle remain but largely how the myth has been debunked so easily and quickly. It's been a tough few months for our green brothers and sisters as it's finally dawned on them that they've been had. They bought into a cult that was designed for nothing more than enriching people like Al Gore and redistributing money from wealthy nations to poor ones.

But not Newsweek. No, when presented with facts that show the "science" was a scam, they hold their collective hands over their ears and utter passages from An Inconvenient Truth really loudly. They are bitter and are taking out their ire on one man who was a loud sceptic from the beginning. In what can only be labeled a rant from a whiny teenager, Sharon Begley goes off on Lomborg without facts, reason or thinking that could even be considered rational.

This is the last gasp of a dying religion and one can only be thankful that it will be relegated to the dustbin of history with other false pseudo-religions like communism and Nazism.

Exit question: Does Begley look exactly like the smug, rebuked global warming supporter you thought?

"No Global Warming Since 1995"--Phil Jones

Sphere: Related Content

So says the central "scientist" whose writings and hypotheses have been the basis of the entire global warming movement. Here's the goods (or bads if you were suckered in by this lying weasel and believed in the global warming swindle):

Professor Jones also conceded the possibility that the world was warmer in medieval times than now – suggesting global warming may not be a man-made phenomenon.

And he said that for the past 15 years there has been no ‘statistically significant’ warming.

The admissions will be seized on by sceptics as fresh evidence that there are serious flaws at the heart of the science of climate change and the orthodoxy that recent rises in temperature are largely man-made.
Read it all but that's it for the biggest scam of modern times. The entire premise was that the world was warmer now than at any time, including medieval times. Without that basis, the entire house of cards comes tumbling down and we'll see a whole gaggle of politicians and "scientist's" stumbling and mumbling about why they spent enormous amounts of money on a theory that was created by a guy who can't keep correct data and now admits that the holy grail was nothing but an empty dixie cup.

Vindication for those of us who saw through this scam from day one and who were treating as outcasts, heretics and labeled "flat Earthers". We saw through the "hockey stick" BS and the claims that seemed to be rooted in anything but science. People like Tim Blair and James Delingpole who went against a much stronger current of environmental zealotry than anyone in the US has. As an aside, Americans are inherently sceptical and I would imagine that's why we never went as insane with GW policy as Europe did.

Perhaps the non-politicians of the world will be sceptical of everything thrown out there by liberals who wish for nothing more than a huge shift of wealth where they can get their piece of the pie at the expense of nations who are first world.

Update: Much more at Watt's Up With That?

Update: There's been a ton of bad things blamed on GW. I guess that it wasn't Mother Nature's fault after all. Maybe the snow we've gotten is because she's pissed we blamed her when it was a lying scientist who was actually playing fast and loose with the facts.

Global Warming Belief Melting Away

Sphere: Related Content

In the seven years I've been writing this blog (damn, 7 years is an eon in the blogosphere but I digress) I've pointed out numerous instances where the facts presented about global warming just didn't add up. Let's just say I was one of the sceptics back when being a sceptic made one a pariah--especially in the environmental business in which I make my living. It was kind of like eating a roast beef sandwich for lunch while working for PETA.

Anyway, in the last six months or so, we've seen the carefully constructed "science" behind the case for man-caused global warming be obliterated. From the "hide the decline" e-mail leak to the Himalayan glacier embarrassment, it's been a non-stop rebuke to those who made their name and their money from perpetuating this myth. Somewhere along the line, too many governments and too many universities got in on the act and it snowballed to the point that it was no longer about the science but about the cash one could make by adjusting the numbers and calling it science.

When the Climate Research Unit e-mails were released, we got an unprecedented look at just how important it was to those who were leaders in global warming studies to make the data fit their preconceived notions--about as unscientific as anything can be. Science is disproving things and looking at all the data to determine a hypothesis, not fudging numbers to make your work look better. These guys were the world leaders on climate science and billions if not trillions of dollars have been spent by nations around the world based on what these guys wrote and passed off as legitimate science. That's billions of dollars, shekels, rupees, euros, pesos and pounds that could have been spent on needy places like Haiti and Ghana. Instead the money was moved in the biggest Ponzi schemes ever devised in an effort to redistribute money from the 1st world to the 3rd. A liberal wet dream is there ever was one.

But now the jig is up and the news is out, the world is starting to catch on that we've been had. The Brits have been huge supporters of carbon emissions reduction and belief in the Great Global Warming Swindle but that's changed dramatically and just in the last three months:

The Populus poll of 1,001 adults found 25% did not think global warming was happening, a rise of 8% since a similar poll was conducted in November.

The percentage of respondents who said climate change was a reality had fallen from 83% in November to 75% this month.

And only 26% of those asked believed climate change was happening and "now established as largely man-made"...

"It is very unusual indeed to see such a dramatic shift in opinion in such a short period," Populus managing director Michael Simmonds told BBC News.

"The British public are sceptical about man's contribution to climate change - and becoming more so," he added.

"More people are now doubters than firm believers."
This is from the very liberal BBC I should note.

I know that weather and climate are two mutually exclusive things but people are out in weather every day and have discerned that it's not been getting warmer in the aggregate, but getting colder. I know that the fot of snow I'm looking at right now outside my window is what it's always been; winter precipitation and nothing more. But when we get hit with two huge storms in a month and a half, people start to get sceptical. Add to that the fact that these global warming zealots have said it's because of global warming that we are having these storms and the average persons bullshit meter pegs at eleven.

Climate change politics and global warming rhetoric is not dead but it's waning. Once more people realize that it's OK to ask questions and not be labeled a "flat earther" or some other such garbage, the more people will realize they've been had. Once that happens, the money will start to dry up and the issue will fade until the next one comes along and the next after that.

Until that battle, we are seeing the beginning of the end of the Great Global Warming Swindle.

Update: California Republicans have launched a ballot initiative that would suspend greenhouse gas emission rules in the state until the unemployment rate improves to 5.5% or better. I bet it will pass too.

Noted Environmentalist Warns of Global Warming

Sphere: Related Content

Quoth the leader of the International Panel on Climate Change:

leader blamed the United States and other industrialized nations for climate change and said the only way to prevent disaster was to break the American economy, calling on the world to boycott U.S. goods and stop using the dollar...

..."The effects of global warming have touched every continent. Drought and deserts are spreading, while from the other floods and hurricanes unseen before the previous decades have now become frequent,"...

...leader noted Washington's rejection of the Kyoto Protocol aimed at reducing greenhouse gases and painted the United States as in the thrall of major corporations that he said "are the true criminals against the global climate" and are to blame for the global economic crisis, driving "tens of millions into poverty and unemployment."...
No, it wasn't the leader of the IPCC (but could easily have been as he's been known to slam the US and lie to get his way), it's Osama bin-Laden allegedly in a new video. Brilliant actually, nothing will motivate the world's leftists like blaming America for destroying the world with our large emissions of carbon dioxide. Hell, that could have easily been Barbara Boxer uttering those words instead of the man responsible for the deaths of 3,000 people in lower Manhattan.

I'm sure the global warming schemers have already devised a mechanism in their fetid little minds whereby they conveniently forget and forgive that the dust from the towers, the carbon released from the burning of the fuel and the oil released by the French supertanker Limburg into the Red Sea. The Earth was just collateral damage in the greater battle.

A new alliance is born, folks. On one side we have theocratic ideologues who hate the US and will abide no questions contradictory to their religion and on the other we have al-Qaeda. A marriage made in Paradise.

Saturday Morning News & Notes

Sphere: Related Content

Big college games today. I like Alabama today but would love to see a close game. I'd also like to see Texas get waxed by Nebraska setting up a fight to see which non-big conference team gets the nod. I hate the BCS and have said a thousand times we need a damn playoff system.

Anyway, here's what's new:

-Democratic Senator Max Baucus nominated his mistress for US attorney in Montana--the state he represents. Now that's audacity. DC needs an enema in 2010; I wonder if it's covered under Obamacare.

-Our first black president brought hope for the African-American community. That hope was short-lived. Could Obama actually suffer because blacks feel betrayed and don't get out and vote in large numbers as they did in 2008? Short answer: no. Like every other Democrat in history he'll start paying attention to that particular bloc around election time telling them how much better they have it and then forget about them again after the election is over.

-A letter written by Thomas Jefferson is found at the U of Delaware.

-Proof that "ism's" that get too big and start spewing lies eventually fail.

-Playing fast and loose with TARP money. Imagine what they'll do with the money for socialized medicine that will accrue for several years before implementation.

-Over at RCP, Obama's aggregate job approval is below 50%. An epic free fall. That would be lower but CBS had him at a ridiculous 53%, which is well above everyone else.

-Update: Yes, San Francisco is actually considering public sex tents because of the growing instances of, well, public sex. I'm against them on the off chance I ever find myself there and Nancy Pelosi feels like getting down with her husband. I would probably be forced to burn my eyes out after seeing that.

PA Actively Killing Jobs and Budget Relief

Sphere: Related Content

In a perfect world, the Obama administration would have looked to the massive deposits of energy-producing raw materials we have under our feet to stimulate the economy. Instead he bowed to the altar of environmentalism more deeply than he bowed to the king of Saudi Arabia. He could have offered a plan that included tax credits to businesses who could extract oil, coal, natural gas that were new, clean and sustainable. Energy companies would have jumped at it and believe me; as someone in the business, the means to do so are what Obama would have called "shovel ready". We have environmentally friendly means that have been developed and can be implemented at will.

The jobs that would have been created would have been in the hardest hit states who are desperately seeking jobs like West Virginia, New York and rural Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania and parts of New York are in the midst of a modern day gold rush but the substance isn't a solid, it's natural gas and the amounts in the Marcellus Shale deposits would give us a serious leg up on the world when it comes to self-sufficiency in that particular raw material.

Instead The One poured our money into pork projects, handouts and funds for "community organizing" that do anything but.

Today, the state of Pennsylvania drove another stake through the heart of budget balancing and reducing the unemployment rolls by withdrawing a permit for water treatment for one of the largest gas-extracting operations in the country:

Months ago, with little public awareness, the Delaware County wastewater treatment plant got a state permit to accept wastewater from natural gas-drilling operations hundreds of miles away.

The plan was to take the polluted water from the burgeoning - and contentious - industry in the Marcellus Shale region, transport it by truck or train to the Chester facility, treat it there, and then discharge it into the Delaware River.

Until yesterday, that is, when the permit was abruptly rescinded.
Note the negative use of "polluted". Most water is polluted before it's treated, hell, toilet water is "polluted" as is water from your clothes and dish washer when it's discharged.

More:

Yet getting the gas out of the ground requires millions of gallons of water to fracture - or "frack" - the shale. Companies add various chemicals to increase the water's effectiveness, and the fracking process deep underground can contaminate the wastewater with toxics and natural radioactivity.
Again, note the use of the word "toxics"; it's misleading. Everything is toxic according to what we used to call science (before Climategate). Paracelsus; a Swiss chemist came up with this hypothesis on toxicity and it's not been disproven to this day:

“Alle Ding sind Gift und nichts ohn Gift; alein die Dosis macht das ein Ding kein Gift ist” [all things are poison and notwithout poison; only the dose makes a thing not a poison”]. With the exception of E = mc2, perhaps no other single statement has wielded such force in establishing the popular notoriety and the professional stature of an individual in the history of science as the words just quoted.
What he meant was simply that everything is toxic. If you're thirsty and drink a glass of water, you're no longer thirsty. If you drink fifteen, you will have an adverse or toxic reaction. Example here.

I digress but my point is the MSM always uses loaded words when discussing environmental issues.

Let's continue with the PA story:

Companies need ways to deal with the wastewater. Options include treating it on-site, reusing it, injecting it into deep wells and transporting it to wastewater treatment plants.

But treatment has been problematic because the water has impurities known as "total dissolved solids" and other contaminants, such as chlorides (salt) and sulfates.
Dissolved solids, chlorides and sulfates are all easily treatable and can be accomplished by any municipal treatment plant in Iraq. Again, misleading.

Most plants cannot remove the solids (a lie--ed). On April 16, the DEP announced discharge standards limiting the solids in the wastewater effluent.

But just five weeks earlier, on March 9, the state approved a permit for the Delaware County Regional Water Quality Control Authority, which was already discharging levels of solids that were higher than the new standards, to accept this solids-laden water in Chester.

The approval meant that the plant would be "grandfathered," not having to comply with the new standards until its permit was changed for other reasons, DEP officials acknowledged.
So the plant currently can discharge the solids but now because it's coming from a shale site, they suddenly can't?

This is a plan by Pennsylvania to limit the extraction of a valuable commodity that would lift the standards of living in a depressed area but in Obamanation we must not piss off Gaia. Ed Rendell is falling right in line like a good little puppy dog while his state is withering and dying.

Meanwhile, China, Russia and other nations are getting fat, dumb and happy while devastating their environment.

The Idiocy of Global Warming Spending

Sphere: Related Content

As I've mentioned about a thousand times before, the great Global Warming Swindle is exactly that; a ploy to scare people into spending billions of dollars that will not benefit the environment but benefit those who have made this an industry.

We have further proof just how inane the thought of carbon reduction reducing temperatures really is:

Editor Note: Using mainstream models and assumptions, Mr. Knappenberger finds that in the year 2050 with a 83% emissions reduction (the aspirational goal of Waxman-Markey, the beginning steps of which are under vigorous debate), the temperature reduction is nine hundredths of one degree Fahrenheit, or two years of avoided warming. A more realistic climate bill would be a fraction of this amount. The author will respond to technical questions on methodology and results and invites input on alternative scenarios and analyses.
Emphasis mine. Think about that, we'll spell untold billions for a reduction 0.019 degree reduction. Hardly worth the pixels I'm producing as I write.

Here's the picture version for you people up in Boston who have trouble reading the written portion:

Monday Night News & Notes

Sphere: Related Content

A cold spring thus far with temps in the low fifties and a lot of rain lately. i wish it would just get warm and stay warm.

Anyway, waiting for the next episode of 24 and catching up on the daily news of the day. Also, my son bought a bearded dragon like the one pictured at right yesterday. It's a prety cool lizard unless you're a cricket, which he devours with gusto.

Here's what I found interesting today:

-Sweetness and Light takes the NY Times to task for their latest instance of shoddy reporting. Thank God they have good fact-checkers, eh?

-The environmentalists forced the military to stop using lead ammo during practice because of the hazards of lead in the soil. They were required to use a "green" bullet that was made of supposedly less-hazardous constituents. It turns out they are carcinogenic and may cause even more harm to the environment and people. Classic environmental insanity, y'all. I hope i get the contract to clean these sites up.

-Anyone with an iota of sense could have told you that corn-based ethanol was a horrid idea. It's expensive, causes spikes in food prices and doesn't do a damn thing to combat supposed global warming. Congress included it in the last energy bill as a sop to the agriculture industry. Plus it does major damage to engines.

-Spinning the vast increase in ice in the Antarctic. These people will never go away, will they?

-A curse-filled "fisking". I like curse-filled fiskings a lot; especially when it includes sentiments such as : "Well the best part of you trickled down your mothers leg after the fleet left town."

-Hundred of thousands turn out for the Tea Parties and the media says nothing. Less than fifty turn out supporting gun control and it's big news. I feel bad for those who died at Columbine ten years ago but the two killers would have found a way to kill even if they didn't have access to guns.

Pelosi Misses Global Warming Protest Because of Snowstorm

Sphere: Related Content

Awesome. The global warming swindle becomes even more hilarious:

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) had to cancel an appearance Monday at a global warming rally in Washington, D.C., that was hit by a snowstorm because her flight was delayed, her office told CNSNews.com.

Brianna Cayo-Cotter, the spokesman for the Energy Action Coalition that held the rally, told a group of reporters that she had been in contact with Pelosi and that her flight had been delayed because of inclement weather.
Gaia does have a sense of humor, doesn't she?

Morons Highlight Global Warming in a Blizzard

The Gore Effect strikes again. The Mid-Atlantic states have had a mostly snow-free winter with only one storm with accumulations greater than an inch. That changed today as we have a good old fashioned storm raging as we speak. I'm guessing about seven inches with more to come.

These morons planned the wrong day to highlight the greatest non-issue in a generation:

Make history March 2, 2009 in Washington, D.C.
Be part of the largest mass civil disobedience for the climate in U.S. history.

You know there is a climate crisis. You know we have to solve it. It’s time to take our action to the next level.

With a new administration and a new Congress, we have a window of opportunity. But we have to open it — together.

On March 2, join thousands of people in a multi-generational act of civil disobedience at the Capitol Power Plant — a plant that powers Congress with dirty energy and symbolizes a past that cannot be our future. Let’s use this as a rallying cry for a clean energy economy that will protect the health of our families, our climate, and our future.
Hey, y'all have fun trying to get their through half a foot of nice global warming. Please also enjoy your non-violent protests while slipping and sliding all over the sidewalk, it should be fun.

BTW, here's a list of sponsors for this circle jerk. Now you know who not to support.

Update: GP has more.

Update: Tom Nelson watches these morons so you don't have to. Check out the clever chants from these Einstein's.

Obama Admin Say No To Huge Oil & Jobs Source

Sphere: Related Content

Not surprising yet disappointing just the same:

Institute for Energy Research (IER) president Thomas J. Pyle issued the following statement today after the Interior Department announced its plans to withdraw from consideration acreage in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming where research and development of a small portion of our nation’s homegrown oil shale reserves had previously been scheduled to take place:

“Earlier this week, Secretary Salazar suggested America’s massive and homegrown reserves of oil shale held ‘great potential.’ Unfortunately, the Interior Department’s decision today may help ensure that potential never becomes reality – in the process, locking-away an American energy resource larger than the total reserves of the entire Middle East.

“At a time of great economic uncertainty, with millions of Americans out of work and state budgets stretched beyond their breaking point, responsible development of America’s abundant shale resources could be a way out of our current condition, and a way back to a better one. The Interior Department’s announcement today effectively forecloses that opportunity.”
I see why Salazar would do this; I mean the potential for thousands of jobs, massive amounts of equipment that will need to be procured helping manufacturing, energy independence and low fuel prices must always be trumped by environmental concerns, right?

Here we are in what Obama claims is the worst economy since the Great Depression and his administration is intentional stopping industry from creating a viable and lucrative new energy sector.

I'm felling all hopey and changey, y'all.

Thursday Night News and Notes

Sphere: Related Content

It's been a long week, y'all. Tomorrow's Friday so all is well with the world for the most part.

Here's what's shaking across the nation:

The big story this week has been that damn monkey nearly killing that lady (and based on what I've heard of her condition, I'm not sure she has much of a life ahead of her). Simply, monkeys belong in the trees of jungles, not in some demented chick's home in Connecticut. Second, the NY Post cartoon was just a damn cartoon, get over it, Sharpton and assorted lefty losers. I don't recall any outrage when this truly racist cartoon was printed. Treacher has some fun with it.

The specific projects; state-by-state, that are to be undertaken with the stimulus money are released. For my state of New Jersey, the southern part of the state gets absolutely shafted with not a single project due to receive money. And no, North Jersey, Giant lovin', loser, scrubs, Hamilton and Trenton are in Central Jersey, not South Jersey.

Sports is not about winning or losing but life lessons. Go read this please.

Tiger Woods to return at the Accenture Match Play Championship. The PGA just let out a sigh of relief.

Notes the lovely Terri:

That’s right. This Carbon Dioxide is bad, bad, bad, unless we decide to exempt it because the folks creating it are good.

Still waiting for more of those beach shots, Terri.

Global Warming "Facts" Melting, Ice is Not

Sphere: Related Content

Supporters of the Great Global Warming Swindle are always quick to point out any little detail that buttresses their claims in spite of the fact that most people can see the data is greatly flawed. Today, via Instapundit, we have this huge mistake admitted by one of the foremost cited agencies by Global Warmenist's:

"The National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) has been at the forefront of predicting doom in the arctic as ice melts due to global warming. In May, 2008 they went so far as to predict that the North Pole would be ice-free during the 2008 'melt season,' leading to a lively Slashdot discussion. Today, however, they say that they have been the victims of 'sensor drift' that led to an underestimation of Arctic ice extent by as much as 500,000 square kilometers. The problem was discovered after they received emails from puzzled readers, asking why obviously sea-ice-covered regions were showing up as ice-free, open ocean. It turns out that the NSIDC relies on an older, less-reliable method of tracking sea ice extent called SSM/I that does not agree with a newer method called AMSR-E. So why doesn't NSIDC use the newer AMSR-E data? 'We do not use AMSR-E data in our analysis because it is not consistent with our historical data.' Turns out that the AMSR-E data only goes back to 2002, which is probably not long enough for the NSIDC to make sweeping conclusions about melting. The AMSR-E data is updated daily and is available to the public. Thus far, sea ice extent in 2009 is tracking ahead of 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008, so the predictions of an ice-free north pole might be premature."
Emphasis mine.

So who used their data?

How about head GW Swindlest Al Gore who received a "private briefing" in 2007. NSIDC actually raved about Gore's sham of a documentary An Inconvenient Truth and gushed:

Arctic sea ice is something NSIDC watches carefully, especially because of its effect on global climate.
Evidently not as careful as they would lead us to believe as that statement is from 2006, one of the years that they have had to now back away from because of this embarrassing discovery showing their absolute ineptness and lazy attention to detail. As of this moment, all of their data must be called into question.

Others have been paying closer attention that I and have noted some mysterious goings on that have now been explained.

Al Gore's Green Ball

Sphere: Related Content

Al Gore's having a "green ball" in honor of Obama's inauguration. Forgetting the fact that a "green ball" sounds like something you'd contract in the rain forest, let's see who the sponsors for this event are.

Well, you have all the companies and advocacy groups one would expect like Earth Justice and Eco America but I saw some companies I wasn't quite sure would be considered "green" such as:

WalMart: The company that has been the whipping boy for liberals for years on all issues from union-busting to environmental. They eliminate jobs, are a bane on the environment and are just plain bad corporate citizens according to libs. I guess every other good company was bankrupt so they crawled on hands and knees to get WalMart to pony up some dough.

Dow Corning: Hmmm...they have 14 sites currently listed as active Superfund sites. Granted, they've done a hell of a job of cleaning them up as have most American companies yet the "green" coalitions have been unfair to the point of idiocy in pointing out how horrible these types of corporations have been. I know for a fact that Dow-Corning has been at the forefront of cleaning up impacted sites and are industry leaders but they seem out of place here.

Ted's Montana Grill: Now maybe it's just me mis-remembering but wasn't it environmental groups who slammed McDonalds for use of beef and the subsequent--yet unverified claim--that rain forests were being plowed under for grazing land? Ted's grill has a hell of a lot of beef on it. Plus, aren't cows the main culprits in producing methane--a supposed global warming gas? How can Al justify taking money from a company that contributes to "climate change". I'm as carnivorous and capitalist as anyone but they profit from a business that directly contributes to methane emissions so they must be bad in Gore's eyes, right?

PG & E: Wasn't it less than a decade ago that PG & E was hated because of environmental pollution from their facilities? I believe Erin Brockovich became a household name because of it. Now they are the sponsors of an inaugural ball that highlights "green" policies? They use either fossil fuels like natural gas and coal or nuclear power to generate 68% of the power they distribute.

Now don't get me wrong, every single one of the above-listed companies has environmental policies in place that exceed policies of most nations. American businesses have been and remain the world leaders in environmental stewardship with regard to air emissions, water quality, hazardous waste disposal and spill response. Most probably emit lower amounts of carbon company-wide than Al Gore's house does.

I just find it amusing that when it comes to money to sponsor an event like this, Al Gore is willing to swallow his pride be extremely hypocritical and bring in any one who picks up the tab while a very recently, his compadres in the Great Global Warming swindle have been berating these companies or products for being un-green.

As with everything else in Al Gore's world; do what I say, not what I do and pony up the shekels when he comes calling.

Here's the hideously-named Green Ball Blog commemorating the event.

Exit thought: I had a certain song running through my head as I wrote this post.

Monday Night News & Notes

New post below.

Here's some links from around the web to peruse:

San Fran Nan is going to be a nightmare this Congress. I tended to like the inane, ineffectual Pelosi of the last one.

The 20 Most Annoying Libs of 2008. Jeez, getting it down to twenty must have been hard.

Global sea ice at 1979 levels. Man, Al Gore just looks more moronic every damn day.

Stu Smalley manages to steal a Senate seat because hes bad enough, dumb enough and doggone it, people hate him. What and embarrassment Minnesota is.

A view of environmental legislation yet to come?

Global Warmingists Will Destroy the World

Sphere: Related Content

Global warming supporters have been losing a great many believers of late who are seeing through the bullshit while freezing their asses off in places that we were told would be essentially the same climate as Tucson by now.

But what to do, should they take the intelligent road and look a bit harder at the data that shows the world has been cooling for almost a decade or should they come up with a scarier scenario (as they do every year and are proven wrong) and propose ideas that will cause more harm to the planet than rising temps ever would?

C'mon people, you know how these idiots act by now:

An emergency "Plan B" using the latest technology is needed to save the world from dangerous climate change, according to a poll of leading scientists carried out by The Independent. The collective international failure to curb the growing emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere has meant that an alternative to merely curbing emissions may become necessary.

The plan would involve highly controversial proposals to lower global temperatures artificially through daringly ambitious schemes that either reduce sunlight levels by man-made means or take CO2 out of the air. This "geoengineering" approach – including schemes such as fertilising the oceans with iron to stimulate algal blooms – would have been dismissed as a distraction a few years ago but is now being seen by the majority of scientists we surveyed as a viable emergency backup plan that could save the planet from the worst effects of climate change, at least until deep cuts are made in CO2 emissions.
They were proven spectacularly wrong thus far so they need to come up with nightmare predictions and idiotic "fixes". They're like an aging Hollywood actress who must can't quite come to grips with the fact that they've become a nuisance and people just want them to go away.

But let's examine this.

Algal blooms can have a devastating affect on wildlife and release neurotoxins that could harm fish, aquatic mammals, the birds and animals that feed on them and humans. Sounds like a good idea, pollute the ocean with a substance known to damage animal life to save the planet from a condition that has not even been proven to be caused by humans and seems to be abating on its own. It must make sense to these morons.

Dude Uses Liposuction Fat For Fuel

Sphere: Related Content

Uh...I'm kinda speechless. It's got a weird Soylent Greenish aspect to it. It's also friggin' gross.

On the flip side, there are some seriously fat-ass folks out there and we could probably fuel the entire Greyhound fleet with their excess fat...just saying.

Update: This doc ain't thniking outside the box at all. He could've powered Wrigley Field for all of next April with this score.
