Job Busting the San Francisco Way

Sphere: Related Content

Of all the liberal cities in America, none exceeds San Francisco in their collective adherence to the liberal ideology of union supporting. San Francisco also constantly takes the prize in smarminess when it comes to advocating for the rights of gays, minorities and the poor.

That's why I find this to be just the latest example of hypocrisy:
At a sprawling manufacturing complex here, hundreds of Chinese laborers are now completing work on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge.

Next month, the last four of more than two dozen giant steel modules — each with a roadbed segment about half the size of a football field — will be loaded onto a huge ship and transported 6,500 miles to Oakland. There, they will be assembled to fit into the eastern span of the new Bay Bridge.

The project is part of China’s continual move up the global economic value chain — from cheap toys to Apple iPads to commercial jetliners — as it aims to become the world’s civil engineer.

The assembly work in California, and the pouring of the concrete road surface, will be done by Americans. But construction of the bridge decks and the materials that went into them are a Made in China affair. California officials say the state saved hundreds of millions of dollars by turning to China.

Let's look at this a bit more in-depth. A bridge is being built that requires massive amounts of labor, steel and energy. California has a seasonally adjusted unemployment rate of 11.7%, well above the national average and far exceeding the average over the last half century and needs new jobs created just to keep the local workforce from shrinking more.

Instead of keeping these jobs in the US, they farm it out to a nation that has such a shoddy quality record that children's toys contaminated with lead were shipped here. Mechanism's in the US used to find poor workmanship are not used and the steel they utilize has been shown to be of inferior quality than manufactured in the US.

But aside from the physical building of the bridge components, how can San Fran Nan's hometown rationalize sending money to a regime that has one of the worst human rights records in the world today? Sure they can build it cheaper as could we if we had no safety, minimum wage, environmental, healthcare or working age laws. How many of those workers are gay and do they get to marry in China? How many people working for little money ($12 per day) will help build that bridge and not be able to support their families because they are essentially slaves? How much carbon was put into the air since China's air quality regulations are not even 1/100th as strict as in America?

Now how many American workers could have been employed, thus removing them from the welfare rolls and making them effective, tax-paying citizens once again? From the steel mills to the welders and ancillary support companies, the amount of people put back to work could have been enormous but alas, the San Francisco liberals show just how hypocritical they are once again.
And no liberals, you can't blame George Bush for this one, it was California money since they knew that using federal funds would have required them to use more American steel and more American work would have been created.

Monday Morning News & Notes

Sphere: Related Content

Still busy and that's a great thing in Obamanation, isn't it?

Here's what's new:

-This is non-biased journalism. In a San Fran paper no less.

-Americans souring even more on environmental issues and the Global Warming Swindle.

-Hey, I'm un-American. Funny, I served in the Navy, gave months of my life away from my wife and believe in freedom. If that's un-American, I'm guilty. This is a major faux pas by San Fran Nan and her shoeshine boy Steny Hoyer.

-More un-Americanism on video.

Global Warming Believers Pick and Choose

Sphere: Related Content

Global warming swindlist's have no shame as made abundantly clear by Tim Blair:

I’m an American climate activist. My heart goes out to all suffering this devastation. I also appeal to you to tell your stories, in blogs or wherever you can; we need your voices to help get climate change laws and treaties passed. Americans don’t understand the harsh reality of GW coming to us all.

Karen, San Francisco, USA
Note that Karen and her vile ilk have said nothing about those in Kentucky who have been suffering without electricity or heat for weeks thanks to a nice storm that dumped icy global warming all over them. I guess that doesn't fit in to the global warming schtick, eh Karen? Plus they're Southerners in a red state so fuck 'em, right? 30 rednecks don't mean anything to the enlightened Friscans I guess. Perhaps if the power was shut off to an abortion mill they'd be worked up. A real shocker she's from Nancy Pelosi's district in San Fran.

If this had been Bush, we'd never hear the end of it but with Obama in power...not so much.

Update: How much does anyone want to bet that Karen is too stupid to realize that it's summer in Australia?

Boehner: Send Gitmo Detainees to Alcatraz

Sphere: Related Content

The GOP is so much more entertaining as a minority party:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday shrugged off Republican suggestions that the federal government reopen Alcatraz prison in her San Francisco district to house detainees from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

President Obama this week signed an executive order calling for the closure of the prison at Guantanamo within the year. Republican Rep. Bill Young then suggested to White House counsel Greg Craig that the prisoners who could not be released back to their home countries or sent to a third country be put up in "the Rock," the famous military installation and prison that closed down in 1963 and is now part of the National Park Service.

Asked whether that was a serious proposal, Pelosi said, "It is -- no."

"Perhaps he's not visited Alcatraz," Pelosi said of Young while displaying little sense of humor. "Alcatraz is a tourist attraction. It's a prison that is now sort of like a -- it's a national park."

..."If liberals believe they ought to go, maybe we ought to open Alcatraz," Boehner, R-Ohio, told NBC "Meet the Press." Being reminded that Alcatraz is a national park, Boehner responded, "It's very secure."
Call it a stimulus plan if you will. San Francisco construction workers would be needed to refurbish the place and would welcome the work I'm sure. Does Speaker Pelosi not care about those out of work people in the Bay Area who would benefit from a re-opened Alcatraz. She must be heartless.

I hope to find video of Pelosi's face when approached with that question. Well, with all the work she's had done, you probably couldn't see the change of expression anyway.

I'm feeling this: we can "rehabilitate" guys like Ramzi Binalshibh and when they are ready to resume life on the outside, we ferry them to Frisco, give them a few bucks and wish them good luck.

We may not have the power to win votes but we sure as hell can yank their chains for a few years.

The Anti-Semitism of San Francisco

Sphere: Related Content

One thing I always look forward to whenever we have an instance of Israel defending itself is the outrage exhibited in Speaker Pelosi's home district. The anti-Semitism is always apparent--as is the stupidity of Frisco lefties.

Fortunately for us, we have the pseudonymous Zombie patrolling the sewer to see what these troglodytes have to say this time. Unfortunately, they keep getting worse and they still can't spell:

Not only illiterate but is doing a hell of a job teaching her children some hateful values. She should be so proud.

Of course, the obligatory comparison of the Israeli's and Nazi's. Yeah, that one doesn't get old...even after seeing it about 50,000 times.

Go see all the pix and check out the videos. Anti-Semitism is alive and well in America and it thrives on the political left.

As a former San Diegan, I can say that these people are an embarrassment to a great state. I can also say that I abhor liberals like these.

San Francisco Sanctuary Law Results in Murder

Sphere: Related Content

During the heated debate about illegal immigration last year, the city of San Francisco was singled out as ground zero of the "sanctuary city" debate. SF Mayor Gavin Newsom maintained a shield law whereby illegal immigrants were not reported to the federal government when they were arrested and thus avoided deportation.

As is so often the case with liberal policies, it has backfired and resulted in the death of four people, the latest a 14-year old boy named Ivan Miranda (pictured right):

SAN FRANCISCO -- A teenager accused of stabbing a 14-year-old boy to death in a gang-motivated attack had been given sanctuary from deportation under San Francisco's previous practice of shielding young illegal immigrant felons from federal authorities, records show.

Rony Aguilera, 17, known as "Guerrillero," has been charged as an adult in the July 31 sword attack in the Excelsior neighborhood that killed Ivan Miranda, who police say was an innocent victim caught up in an act of gang vengeance. Authorities believe Aguilera is an illegal immigrant from Honduras, but he was never referred to federal officials after being arrested last year in an assault case, according to records reviewed by The Chronicle.

Aguilera is the second person this year to be charged with murder in San Francisco after having been protected from possible deportation under city officials' now-discarded interpretation of a sanctuary ordinance that barred agencies from cooperating with federal efforts to round up illegal immigrants.
Four people are dead because San Francisco has a policy that makes it illegal to report illegals who by definition have already broken federal law. Four people who would be alive now if Mayor Newsom had not given the finger to the feds are now dead. I'm sure their families are really happy about Newsom's liberal policy and have nothing but a warm fuzzy feeling for him when crying over the graves of their loved ones.

Granted, Newsom has made changes to the policy, yet it was too late to save these four people. "I'm sorry" isn't going to cut it and amending the sanctuary law will not bring these four people back.
