GOP May Just Take the Senate

Since our slate of candidates is pretty lame, perhaps we need to push the fact that we have a damn good shot at winning the Senate and possibly controlling all three branches:

facing big disadvantages in Senate campaigns this year, Democrats got another dose of bad news today as former Sen. Bob Kerrey announced he won’t run in Nebraska.

Kerrey offered Democrats a glimmer of hope in their toughest state. When Sen. Ben Nelson, D-Neb., announced his retirement in December, the state immediately topped the list of open, competitive seats Democrats will have to defend in 2012. Without Kerrey, who served in the U.S. Senate from 1989 until 2001, Democrats will have a much tougher time defeating the winner of the three-way Republican primary in this GOP-leaning state.

Kerrey was their only shot at winning Nelson's seat and he's just up for another rodeo so it looks like a huge chance for a GOP gain. I'm guessing the RNC will get it in their thick skulls that we can increase turnout dramatically if we hit play this up as much as possible. Romney just ain't exciting the base and won't gain any more momentum unless he chooses a solid running mate like Rubio. We need something that will motivate people to get out the vote and taking back the Senate would be just the thing.

For the record, Kerrey isn't a bad guy so this is a big blow to the Dems.

Obama Getting Creamed State-by-State

So I had an interesting conversation with a European today. He said that "Europeans love Obama". I get it since he's trying to lead us to the system they have, which is currently imploding.

Apparently Americans just don't feel the same as our friends across the Atlantic:


That my friends is an ass-kicking in the making. Losing New Mexico, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Ohio would not be surmountable for The One. With current CBO reports showing rising unemployment and deficits as far as the eye can see, I don't see how Obama can hope to win unless Romney does something incredibly stupid like get caught tweeting a pic of his balls to some chick or getting caught banging some fat intern before November.

Alan Colmes Gives A Preview of Media in 2012

Alan Colmes has always been your typical beta male liberal. He was second fiddle behind Hannity on their show before Fox management realized that Colmes was just dragging the show down. He has a radio show, which can't be found anywhere on the dial and is still on Fox due to some feeling they owe him something or some other garbage reason. The dude is a great example of what happens when a guy gets picked on in school, has no chance at getting laid until he's 21 and has enough money to pay a hooker or get lucky with the ugly chick who's drunk at 2 AM grows older.

That said, the guy is a great bell weather for what we will see as liberal media lines of attack. He's linked in to whatever passes for the Journolist circle jerk club now where lib media folks decide what and what they will not discuss when it come to a particular topic.

However, it seems like Colmes jumped the shark today and went after Rick Santorum from an angle I expected but just not this soon:



Anyone who knows the story knows that Santorum did what he felt was right in a tough situation. His 2-hour old child died and he was devastated. He discussed what he should do with neonatal medical staff and decided to bring the dead child home so that his other children could have some time to bond and remember their sibling. Think about the state you would be in had your child died regardless of how long into the pregnancy.

In the view of most sane folks, you give someone a pass for their actions in that situation and you sure as hell don't use it as political ammo...unless you're a liberal scumbag like Holmes. I expected to see numerous stories about Santorum in the next week and I expected the issue of his dead child to be included but down in the story like the MSM always does when they want to get a particular touchy issue about Republicans out but not look blatant.

But not Holmes. He went right after it within the first minute of discussing Santorum. Rich Lowry rightly embarrassed him and Holmes did apologize but only because he was worried about losing his sweet gig on the number one news channel, not because he felt any remorse. I guess playing second fiddle to Keith Olbermann on a Al Gore's channel that's watched by no one was a horrifying thought.

No wonder Chris Christie bailed on this race. He knew the media would be even more nasty defending Obama since they sure as hell don't have any successful results to point to.

Sarah Palin to Resign Governorship July 26

A stunner in some respects. She's banking on a national run and will need to revamp her image and start raising money to even think of competing:

WASILLA, Alaska -- In a stunning announcement, Gov. Sarah Palin said Friday morning she will resign her office in a few weeks.

Speculation has swirled for weeks, perhaps months that Palin would not seek re-election in 2010 as she pursues a political career on the national stage. The former vice presidential candidate has long been rumored to be considering a run at the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.

Palin did not address those rumors at the press conference at her Wasilla home, during which she did not take questions from reporters.

She implied that her real decision was not to seek re-election, and that the resignation was a natural step after that in order to avoid a lame-duck final 18 months of her term.

"With this announcement that I'm not seeking re-election, I've determined it's best to transfer the authority of governor to Lieutenant Governor (Sean) Parnell," Palin said. "I'm determined to take the right path for Alaska, even though it is unconventional and is not so comfortable.

"And I am willing to do this so this administration, with its positive agenda and its accomplishments and its successful road to an incredible future for Alaska, so that it can continue without interruption and with great administrative and legislative success."

It does make her seem that she cares for the state first and her aspirations second. Plus it will give the Lt. Gov. a leg up and some critical executive time in office.

I don't know about her chances but it should be fun watching her batle the Dems and her GOP enemies on a daily basis for a while.

The Sarah Palin Phenomenon Continues

Sarah Palin remains a superstar:

Three weeks after the Republican ticket suffered a sweeping defeat at the polls, Sarah Palin continues to dominate search engine queries, cable news and online video sites.

The only American politician who generates comparable interest is President-elect Barack Obama. No one else is close.

Palin was the most popular Lycos search from the week she joined the ticket continuously through last Sunday, some two weeks after the election, when she was dethroned by Paris Hilton, the celebutante whom John McCain famously compared to Barack Obama.

Palin is ambitious but doesn't come off as overly so like Hillary, she's photogenic, she's intriguing with her outdoorsy personna and let's face it, she's hot. The woman has five kids and looks smoking whenever she's in the media glare (note pic of her touring Kuwait at right). This isn't just Republicans who are looking her up, it's Democrats as well.

“People are projecting their values onto Sarah Palin, and in some sense, she reflects them back,” said Mark Corallo, a Republican media strategist. “She’s a conservative, she’s young, and she’s attractive. She speaks to something that’s been missing from the Republican Party.”

What, Rove, Gingrich, Lott, Huckabee, Thompson and McCain don't fit into that "young, attractive" category?

Note the comments, liberals really fear her as is shown by the stupid references and other smears. She's got them flummoxed.

Update: I meant to another part of what makes her different. She's not a hypocrite, her son was diagnosed with Down Syndrome in utero and she opted to have the baby rather than abort him (probably the number one thing that liberals hate about her). Her eldest child is fighting in Iraq as we speak and when she was forced by the vultures in the media to reveal that her daughter was pregnant, she handled it with class and dignity. Americans identify with her because she is one of us, one with family issues and day-to-day problems that every one of us face and struggle through.
