Saturday Morning News & Notes

Sphere: Related Content

It was snowing a few minutes ago, in mid April...Can't wait for that global warming to kick in.

Here's what's new in the world:

-Over the years, the US military has assisted Muslim people in their time of need. An earthquake in Pakistan? We helped immediately along with the UK. A famine in Somalia? We sent troops (and lost some) helping the food get through. The break up in the Baltic states? We fought for the Muslim side.  And on and on...So I get particularly incensed when I see headlines on CBS News such as this one:

What role does Islamophobia play in terror attacks?

Essentially they are saying the terrorism equivalent that woman would not have been raped is she didn't dress so provocatively. It's a chicken and egg thing here. Muslim terrorists attack us repeatedly, they kill thousands and we get a little uncomfortable with their actions and lack of assimilation. They keep attacking, according to CBS News it has to be our fault for being bigoted.

-20 years of improvements in New York City have been destroyed in just two years. de Blasio is a corrupt kleptocrat and he will bring only bad things to the City that Giuliani brought back from the brink of destruction.

-I think we need to mass produce these and put them in the hands of every soldier and Marine immediately:

According to its fiscal year (FY) 2017 budget request, the U.S. Army will produce 105 so-called XM25 Counter Defilade Target Engagement (CDTE) weapons, a precision-guided grenade launcher, and distribute them among specially trained soldiers. “Accordingly, the army has requested $9.764 million in FY 2017 for the program and hopes for $14.852 million in FY 2018, $24.930 million in FY 2019, $32.158 million in FY 2020, and $25.798 million in FY 2021
-Actor gives anti-Semitic Pink Floyd lyricist the finger.

-I would love to see this. Marine Corps General (Ret) James Mattis is being pushed for the GOP nomination. This guy is a friggin' legend and would have Bernie crying in the corner within minutes. Plus he's a veteran in an election lacking them. Some excellent quotes from the good general:

“I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all.”

“In this age, I don’t care how tactically or operationally brilliant you are, if you cannot create harmony—even vicious harmony—on the battlefield based on trust across service lines, across coalition and national lines, and across civilian/military lines, you need to go home, because your leadership is obsolete. We have got to have officers who can create harmony across all those lines.”

“You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.”
