I can see it now, Obama meets with Nouri al-Maliki and an agreement is reached to remove troops according to a timetable. The media will trumpet it as an Obama accomplishment and al-Maliki is hedging his bets that Obama wins.
Get ready for it folks. John McCain was a champion of the surge that led to the Anbar Awakening, al-Maliki having the political clout to challenge Moqtada al-Sadr and the eventual civilian uprising against al-Qaeda. Even Bush was against it from the start as were every single Democrat. In short, McCain staked his political future on our troops winning and they did. McCain supported our troops and knew what they could accomplish given the tools, manpower and equipment and Obama did not opting to toe the party line of ignominious defeat.
McCain tours Iraq, CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and every other MSM outlet sends a cub reporter. Obama tours Iraq, Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams and Katie Couric follow basking in the Messiah's glory. McCain was the only one who trusted our boys and girls to snatch victory from the jaws of certain defeat and he gets pissed on by the media who were ever so ready to hang on his any word when it was against Bush. Now, not so much. They've dropped McCain like a homely girl who was the only one available at the tail end of a teenage basement kegger whom they were aghast to wake up next to (I'll see you around school Cindy, er Sandy...er, Kelsey.)
The new meme is in place and it will continue should Obama win. Afghanistan will get a nice whitewashing, stories of the Taliban regrouping will disappear and victory in that hell hole will be credited to Obama as well.
The Obama Victory Tour is underway and by the end, the Messiah will be duly coronated...at least until the American public wakes up and decides that this guy is woefully inadequate and is so gaffe prone as to make Bush look like Tony Blair.
