The Mets Meltdown Continues

Sphere: Related Content

As a Phillies fan, nothing is better than sweeping the Braves while the Mets get swept by a horrid Padres club. The Mets are in full-on melt-down mode and one would suspect that Willie Randolph's tenure is tenuous at best.

But wait, it gets better:

San Diego, CA (AHN) -- Scott Hairston hit a solo home run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the San Diego Padres a 2-1 victory over the New York Mets on Saturday to become the first team in major league history to win four straight 2-1 games.

The Padres, winners of nine of their last 13 and a season-high four straight, started the streak with a 2-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday. They have followed that up with three straight 2-1 victories over the Mets.

The Mets become part of history on the negative side while the Phillies just keep pounding the baseball all over the yard. Ryan Howard is on a nice run and Utley is just plain sick with the stick right about now.

How hot are the Phils? About this hot.
