So my son played a baseball tourney in Reading, PA (3rd out of twelve teams, not bad) and I met a few people who are from the middle of the state. I don't recall seeing anyone visibly clinging to religion and there were no guns in evidence. I guess they had concealed-carry permits or something.
I also didn't see any outward antipathy toward those not like them. In fact, I saw people of all nationalities staying in a hotel together and they all seemed to get along just like people in the rest of the country.
I guess Obama visited a different part of the state than I did.
