Obama's Latest Major Gaffe

Sphere: Related Content

In yet another example of Obama not being ready for prime time, he uttered this about my neighbors across the Delaware River. I'll break this down into two parts since they are both unique:

You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
Typical populist BS to be sure. What Obama doesn't say is why these regions are suffering, he doesn't pin the blame where it belongs. During the eighties and nineties, auto companies from Japan and Korea were modernizing and coming out with new vehicles that challenged the old thinking. Meanwhile, Detroit was stuck in the same old mindset and the United Auto Workers were arguing for an extra $0.15 for the guy who screws on the stick-shift ball. Americans grew tired of the old designs, the poor quality and the arrogance of American car companies and went with the better vehicles made elsewhere.

The same thing happened in nearly every other industry; unions forced companies to pay too much and the delicate market balance was upended resulting in jobs going overseas.

But wait, Obama couldn't stop there, he uttered this:

...So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Uh...wow. You see, Pennsylvanians aren't religious because they are spiritual people but because of the despair they found religion. If that's Obama's view of why people choose to be religious, it's no wonder he fell under the vile spell of Rev. Wright.

As for the second part, is Obama calling an entire state racist? It sure seems as though that's the case. It's inconceivable to Obama that the reason the state is upset about illegal immigration is because liberal policies have allowed Mexicans to come in and take jobs that are rightfully theirs. It's also beyond the senator that keystone staters are practical folks and see what illegal aliens cost our nation on a daily basis. They see their tax dollars paying for those who shouldn't be receiving any.

Obama is a horrid candidate and this proves for the umpteenth time that he's an amateur who struck a chord with idealistic youth and mindless liberals drones. His popularity stems from the uniqueness of his campaign but that will never carry him once the general election gets revved up.

Much more at Powerline.
