California Roadways and the Governator

Sphere: Related Content

The Governator plans on revealing the new infrastructure plans for California today. Cake or Death responds to initial plans thusly:

Brilliant! Kill two birds with one anti-environmentalist stone: lower costs, and pissing off the Greenpeace weenies! It'll be fun watching their heads explode. But it's toll roads. We just need roads... period.

Agreed. The state of California freeways has been in disrepair for a decade at least. The layout is mostly smart as they had the poor examples of the east coast to show them what not to do, but they are still grossly outdated. A great example of a screw up is the I-5/I-805 merge in north County, San Diego. The amount of cars that sit idling at rush hour causes a huge amount of pollution in a beautiful part of the San Diego landscape that can easily be alleviated.

Continuing on, the fact that Arnold is easing the oppressive environmental concerns is heartening. California has the strictest environmental regulations of any state, regulations that forced numerous businesses and individuals to pull up stakes and vamoose to Arizona or Nevada. Perhaps they are on to sensible environmental policies in the state.
