Terri Schiavo Redux

Sphere: Related Content

The autopsy results were released by the M.E. regarding Terri Schiavo. The left and right are doing their usual dance about what it all means. The left side of the blogosphere is ecstatic and the right is still defending their positions.

There was a serious ruckus around the 'sphere when this was happening in real time. Some of us decided that this whole thing was bad no matter what side you were on.

Regardless of what the autopsy is purported to have shown, the simple fact is that a woman was allowed to die a slow death and her husband, while appearing to me to be a low-life, was unabashedly eviscerated.

I still feel the same way as I did when this whole sorry event was going on; the left and the right got so caught up in politics that they lost their remaining humanity. Shame on all of you.

Update: That would assume that those stating their opinions had any shame.

Update: Katinula takes me to task. Let's examine what she said in her original post:

Should I hold out hope...
that one of those commentators, protestors, SENATORS, CONGRESSMEN...anyone who used this case to further their own agenda...will apologize.

Sounds reasonable, except she then goes on to make it political:

Keep in mind (via Atrios) what Bill Frist said. Damn those videotaped diagnoses

Frist offered an opinion based on what he saw. He is a doctor and does have some knowledge of brain injuries I suspect. Maybe he was at one of those Christian/Nazi/gulag prayer meetings the day they discussed brain injuries in med school.

Whatever, this whole thing is ugly and I'm done with it. To argue either side of this issue is just not worth it.
