Liberals Have a Fever and the Only Cure is Bombing Syria (and Helping al-Qaeda)

It felt like a Monday but tomorrow is hump day so it's all good.

Here's what's going on in bizarro world where Democrats become war mongers over suspected weapons of mass destruction after spending the last 13 years berating us for not finding WMD when we know they used. Just a thought, wouldn't it be ironic if the WMD the Democrats are about to go to war over are actually ones transferred by Saddam out of iraq into Syria?

-Debbie Wasserman Schultz says that there are "dozens" of countries allying with us against Syria but can't name them because it's classified. Kind of like the stories virgin nerds tell about "this girl I met at a lake in Canada who really liked me...you wouldn't know her".

-John Kerry and John McCain damn near kissed with full-on tongue today while Kerry was being questioned about Syria. I get they are friends and have a lot in common (like both losing elections they should have won) but to call each other "John" during senate testimony about putting our troops in harms way is just too damn much. It was, frankly, embarrassing but both these men are well passed any sort of shame. I respect McCain for his service and strong will against the Viet Cong but he's off the reservation on so many issues now including playing poker on his I-Phone while testimony was ongoing and comparing Christians saying "thank God" to Muslims saying "Allahu akhbar".

-MSNBC was the worldwide leader in counting down the days until the body count in Iraq hit 3,000. They were elated they could really stick it to that Neocon, cowboy war-loving bastard W. But all of a sudden, MSNBC is making W. sound like Cindy Sheehan.

-Speaking of Sheehan, Medea Benjamin--the head of Code Pink interrupted Sec. Kerry today before his testimony shouting about not going to war in Syria. Kerry remembered his traitorous testimony with regard to Vietnam (video at link). While Benjamin is a fucking loon and doesn't deserve my time, I will give her the props for sticking up for her principles and not acting, like, well, the  NY Times or MSNBC.

There's No Spinning Dismal Job Numbers

Upon the release of the August jobs report, people were looking a sign, any sign, that things were going in the right direction. Everyone was disappointed. 96,000 news jobs and 368,000 dropping out of the labor force is wretched by any measure.

Of course, the administration hailed it as a good sign but anyone not watching MSNBC or high on the DNC vibe still could see it for what it was, a continuing sign  that the stagnation and dreary economic situation isn't changing anytime soon.

As of today, there are more people out of the job market than at anytime since 1948. This is the worst run of +8% unemployment since the Depression and the numbers for young people are dramatically worse. We now have four years of college grads who are under-employed and starting off their work lives in a deep hole. Engineers are working grocery store clerks, lawyers are taking unpaid internships and older people are staying in the job market instead of vacating their positions and allowing the next generation to work it's way up. There are now more than 88-million people without jobs in what used to be the most prosperous economy on the planet.

Of course, the Fed will now use this as a reason to pump more and more money into an already saturated market and the value of the dollar will dive. Regardless of who wins the election, inflation will be a headwind for years. The vile mix of declining salaries and rising costs will hurt us in ways we can't yet comprehend.

But the real ugliness is yet to come. On January 1st, all of the Bush tax cuts will expire and sequestration--1.5-trillion in cuts to mainly the military--will kick in and the bottom that we feel we are currently at will drop out even further.

This is Obamanomics in all its glory. A Keynesian stimulus that stimulated no one but Obama's cronies and increased regulation and uncertainty on job-creators have given us the single-worst economy since my father was a kid. This is liberal ideology writ large. While the country faces economic uncertainty, the Democrats spend three days talking about abortion and booing God. While people are suffering, the supposed "party of the people" cheers for bailouts that have failed and a continuation of the policies that have put us here. They also ran the convention exactly how they run the country.

If there were ever any starker choice as to what direction we should go, I don't recall the time. Do we continue down the road to ruin or do we say enough and dig in our heels, fight back against a horribly biased media and elect a man who knows how to turn failure around? All one has to do is look at the chart below to see just how incredibly bad the last four years have been. The choice is easy if one looks at it honestly:

Air America Shuttering is Latest Example That Liberalism Doesn't Sell

It was only a matter of time but the the frail entity that was Air America has been euthanized and put out its (and our) misery:

National and local advertising revenues have fallen drastically, causing many media companies nationwide to fold or seek bankruptcy protection. From large to small, recent bankruptcies like Citadel Broadcasting and closures like that of the industry’s long-time trade publication Radio and Records have signaled that these are very difficult and rapidly changing times…

When Air America Radio launched in April, 2004 with already-known personalities like Al Franken and then-unknown future stars like Rachel Maddow, it was the only full-time progressive voice in the mainstream broadcast media world. At a critical time in our nation’s history — when dissent on issues such as the Iraq war were often denounced as “un-American” — Air America and its talented team helped millions of Americans remember the importance of compelling discussion about the most pivotal events and decisions of our generation.

Er, millions? Try tens. If they had millions listening they'd still be on the air. Add to that the fact that the discussion was not the least bit "compelling". They bashed Bush, bashed Palin and bashed conservatives in general and did it without intelligence or a sense of humor. Americans will listen to partisan talk as shown by Rush and Hannity but they will not listen to mean-spirited talk, especially if it's not funny.

Liberalism doesn't sell real well unless it's hidden such as we see on NBC, CBS and ABC. When it's overt--such as the case with MSNBC and CNN--it fails miserably. We are a center-right nation and hour after hour of listening to pro-abortion, big government talk is grating at best. You can only spew so many Palin is stupid, Bush is a chimp, Cheney is the devil rants before people say enough.

The problem is that Air America had no substance and the talk was far from intelligent. The vile drunk Randi Rhodes proved that you can go too far but going to far without actually eliciting chuckles is a death blow. Imus goes too far daily but he's funny about it.

Can we now put to rest the liberal canard that Rush is only the most-popular because he's subsidized by rich righties? Air Scamerica had large infusions of money and still resorted to ripping off kids...and hiring cheap hookers.

Adios Air America and don't let the door hit ya in the ass. I'm enjoying the schadenfreude of them being relegated to the dustbin of history.

Four Years Ago, Dissent Was Patriotic

Back when the left was hoping for more soldier deaths to make Bush look bad and marching in the streets with disgusting posters they claimed that dissent was patriotic. Their action, although despicable were allowed under the first amendment but were far from patriotic.

But now that real Americans and not those rounded up and bussed to protests by groups like ANSWER and Moveon.org are actually peacefully dissenting without going anti-Semitic dissent is suddenly "hooliganism":



There is nothing more patriotic than putting your representative on the hot seat. They are representatives for us in Congress and have one responsibility: to stand up for their constituents.

Note that Mr. Ms. Maddow is appalled that protesters would hold a sign showing their representative as the devil. I seem to recall Ms. Maddow had no problems with this:

The media adulation of Barack Obama has reached it's, er...climax with Evan Thomas and Chris Matthews doing to Obama what even Monica Lewinsky did to Slick Willy:

My Lord, there hasn't been a deep throat equivalent to that since Jim McGreevey was cruising truck stops servicing anonymous truck drivers (not sure if he ever quit that habit, though).

The old media is as dead as FDR at this point but Thomas and Matthews have finally thrown dirt on the rotting, fetid corpse. This is why people tune into alternative news, Fox and read blogs because liberals like Thomas are running what was once a respected magazine that is now way past the point of unreadable and soon to be one of those unwanted local news rags you get sent in the mail.

Misogyny is Alive and Well in Progressiveland

Keith Olbermann is a hypocritical liberal is one ever existed. We all know that and it takes quite a bit from the failed sports host to even comment on him but his vile, sexist outrage concerning a beauty pageant contestant who spoke out against gay marriage is particularly disgusting.

This sums up the nastiness pretty well.

The Sad State of the US Media

The liberal media in the US is still in the throes of Obamania and it looks as though it won't end soon although we've seen some come to heir senses.

Here we have two examples. Firts we have Hardball where Chris Matthews is owned by Ari Fleischer. Second, we have Andrea Mitchell actually apologizing to Barney Frank for reporting on Obama nominee's tax problems. My goodness, the media reporting that the nominee for Treasury Secretary didn't pay taxes when he will run the IRS is a reason to plead guilty.

Oy.

It's going to be a long four years, folks.

Fox News is a Behemoth

Rupert Murdoch has had a tough year as have all media companies but this ought to give him a reason to smile. Plus he can really give the finger in Olbermann's general direction:

Fox News was the ratings leader during prime time and total day during February 2009 — its 86th month on top. FNC averaged more Total Viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in prime time and total day.

FNC had nine out of the top 10 programs in cable news last month in Total Viewers. The O'Reilly Factor was #1 for the 99th consecutive month, and was up 33% in Total Viewers compared to February 2008. The other top programs included Hannity (up 38%), Glenn Beck (the 5pmET hour was up 100%), The FOX Report with Shepard Smith (up 30%) and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren (up 24%).

On the Record also reclaimed the lead in the 25-54 demographic, up 4% year to year. At 7pmET, FOX Report was up 28% in the demo, The O'Reilly Factor was up 44% and "Hannity" up 34%.

There's no way else to spin in but to say that Fox is dominating. we hear that Rachel Maddow is making a move or the Olberwoman is rampaging but these numbers are so overwhelmingly in favor of Fox News that anything they say will sound ridiculous.

They beat CNN and MSNBC even when you combine their viewers.

Hey, maybe using the Nutroots sites for storylines will help them out.

This will only encourage the Unfairness Doctrine supporters to push for it to include cable news as well.

Tuesday Night News and Notes

It's snowing nicely in South Jersey, not sticking to the roads but lying on the lawns.

I find it funny that liberals are the only ones that care what the NY Times Editorial Board writes and actually will quit because of those words.

I find it funny that when the aforementioned guy quit, he did so emotionally to Andrea Mitchell who no one has taken seriously for years except liberals.

I find it funny that Katie Couric thought she had the scoop of interviewing hero Captain Sullenberger first and ESPN's Ricky Reilly beat her to it.

I find it funny that Dem tax cheats are falling left and right and we can all sit back and make fun of them in clever ways.

I find it funny that shady Democrat Senators feel the need to tell us that Rush Limbaugh has 1st Amendment rights and can criticize Obama.

I find it funny that Hollywood continues to make anti-Bush movies that crash and burn stupendously.

Michael Smerconish Got Played

You may recall that Philly talk show host and moderate Republican Michael Smerconish gained some fleeting pub when he endorsed Obama for president. Smerconish's rationale was that Obama was serious about getting Osama bin-Laden and that was enough to turn the non-conservative Smerconish against McCain and drive him right into the Obama camp because, well, Obama said he would make that a major part of his administration.

Michael Smerconish now has the honor of being among the first people punked by Obama before he even takes office.

It's interesting that a man who has been active in politics for decades was seduced by a few smooth words by a smooth politician and gave up his self esteem for a few those few words and the promise of a blurb in several blogs for one day (and reportedly a new contract).

Congrats Mike, I once listened to you daily but ceased the day you whored yourself out. Enjoy waiting for Obama to act on the sole reason you supported him, although you asserted differently, and non-convincingly on the HuffPo. You can wait with the Daily Kos crowd and all the others who were fooled by a few inane words.

And for the record, I never had an issue with Smerconish inviting Obama on the show, as a talk show host he would have been idiotic not to. My problem is that Smerconish is a Bush Republican--in other words; a liberal Republican and he grew farther to the left of the party to fit into the MSNBC paradigm, He sold out himself.

BTW, why don't you call Obama's people Mike, see if they'll allow another interview. I doubt it now that you've served his purpose.

China is in the midst of economic problems. How big and how will it effect us and the world?

Community Organizers filed a complaint against the three largest Wall Street rating firms for "charging that their inflated ratings on subprime mortgage bonds disproportionately caused financial harm to African American and Latino home buyers across the country." Let's see if I have this right; Congress forced companies to offer subprime mortgages and even accused those who questioned the practice racists. Now, these firms are being sued because they were part of the process? Makes sense...Bawney Fwank, call you office, pwonto.

Thank you, Barack. Gov. Napolitano's replacement will mean a Republican will be guv in Arizona. Maybe we can think about shutting the border down since Napolitano was loathe to do it.

This is arguable but you probably will agree: Joy Behar is the stupidest human on TV today. That includes any of the dumbass shows like Real Wives of Orange County and Countdown with Keith Olbermann (although it was close).

Any Pretense of Impartiality Is Purely Coincidental

The media have been gloating. After eight years and two presidential campaigns in which they were beaten and exposed as laughable hacks, they now have their moment. Like the child who makes it to the bathroom all on their own for the first time during potty training, they are incredibly happy with themselves. They've done it, they've put their man in office and for the first time since 1996, they can say that they are relevant once again, they are important. The captain of the football team even winked at them.

The fact that they've destroyed what took at least a century to build is a non-starter because they have proven to themselves that they are popular again.

Even Howie Kurtz--a man who was loathe to criticize his brothers and sisters who were giving the finger to those who saw the media as a non-partisan entity--now has seen fit to point out the cult of personality that has engulfed those who write the first draft of history:

MSNBC, which was accused of cheerleading for the Democratic nominee during the campaign, is running promos that say: "Barack Obama, America's 44th president. Watch as a leader renews America's promise." What are viewers to make of that?

There is always a level of excitement when a new president is coming to town -- new aides to profile, new policies to dissect, new family members to follow. But can anyone imagine this kind of media frenzy if John McCain had managed to win?

Obama's days of walking on water won't last indefinitely. His chroniclers will need a new story line. And sometime after Jan. 20, they will wade back into reality.

Probably not, Howie. Obama will be given an extended honeymoon that any former president would have died for. I expect at least a year of blame for every blunder to be squarely placed on the shoulders of George W. Bush. Did they blame Clinton for 9/11 when he had myriad opportunities to take out bin-Laden but failed and resulted in the annihilation of a portion of Lower Manhattan less than nine months into W's term? Of course not.

We now have the least experienced and least vetted candidate in US history about to lead this nation. Traditionally, the job of vetting was entrusted to the media. Not anymore, Once trust is lost, it's difficult to gain back. The media colluded to avoid any stories which had the potential to derail what they saw as the inevitable and the ending they wanted. Why write an expose on William Ayers, have you seen Obama speak they said to one another. Rezko? Too boring and besides, have you seen Obama smile? Rev. Wright? All heresay generated by the right-wing machine meant to take us off-track when we are chronicling this inevitable moment in history they muttered.

So here we stand with a rookie president with a resume listing "community organizer," state senator and US Senator for a few years. Such a scant resume would surely have been picked apart by the media were it that of a GOP candidate (and was in the case of Gov. Palin). A man who has been given a pass on every single major issue in his past is now poised to be the leader of the free world because the media wanted it that way. The value of this betrayal of great reporters of the past is incalculable by a dollars and cents scale but put Obama over the top.

The newsmedia is done and it only took an Obama win, media people treating the moment like it was coming of the Lord and a few headlines that have been the status quo for months for Howie Kurtz to suddenly write about it.

Tuesday Afternoon News

On this sleety, cold day--the first fireplace day of the year--I bring you the latest buzz from around the Internet:

Vets for Freedom takes it to Murtha who is in a real battle for his Congressional seat. It doesn't pay to accuse US Marines of murder, Congressman.

The Dems are stacking the deck in Ohio. Cheating comes quite naturally to them. Felons, the homeless, the deceased and finally people who don't exist at all are all pulling for Obama.

Rep. Barney Frank is gearing up to spend your money with reckless abandon. perhaps he'll even legalize prostitution clubs in his apartment so he doesn't have to deal with that unfortunate illegality again.

Some of the media have retained their respectability.

When your little-watched news channel gets ridiculed by both Hollywood libs and conservatives, it may be time to hang it up. love the rip at Olbermann.

Convention Notes--Final Donk Edition

Obama's speech was soaring and exactly what you'd expect from a candidate accepting the nomination. It was good, not great, but good. In the eyes of Olbermann though, it was magnificent and should be treated as gospel. Anyone who disagrees is not capable of holding their job even if they are a respected reporter:

So Olbermann was outraged that the AP's Babington had written, in his analysis of the speech, just off the wire, that Obama had tried nothing new and that his speech was lacking in specifics. He read the first few paragraphs on the air, lamented that it would be printed in hundred of newspapers on Friday, and concluded, "It is analysis that strikes me as having born no resemblance to the speech you and I just watched. None whatsoever. And for it to be distributed by the lone national news organization in terms of wire copy to newspapers around the country and web sites is a remarkable failure of that news organization.

"Charles Babington, find a new line of work."

They will brook no dissent from the mostly compliant media. Bonus: Prima donna Olby needs more protection, I'm guessing from his felow employees at MSNBC.


The GOP may delay their convention if Hurricane Gustav appears about to hit the Gulf Coast on Monday.


Jimmy Carter continues to be the least classy former president in this nations history. I guess his calling Obama a "black boy" will go unchallenged.


Kaus breaks it down without the breathless fawning we see from Olby. You know, kind of how a reporter should report the news. Kaus wasn't so impressed. The best line:

Why the slow, angsty movie-music at the end? I thought someone in the Politburo had died.

Here's to hoping they're too drunk to come up with any tax-sucking legislation.

Democrat Party Unity?

I was under the impression that Bill Clinton was essentially persona non grata in the party now that The One is the standard bearer. If so, explain to me how he brought "unity" to the party by uttering one line:

The division and drama of the first two days of the convention seemed to disappear midevening as former President Bill Clinton told the crowd that Obama "is ready to be president of the United States," a declaration he has resisted making in the past.

Clinton, who was greeted by a long ovation and chants of "Bill, Bill," said it was vital to elect Obama president because "the American dream is under siege at home, and America's leadership in the world has been weakened."

Hugs all around and free abortions to all who have a convention ticket stub, there's peace and harmony in the party of Jimmy Carter. Bubba is no longer a racist and now he can assume his position as the old sage of the party once again just as long as he doesn't say anything or talk to the press.

You have to love Slick Willy's line about the American dream and leadership, it's purely rhetoric meant for consumption by the gullible Democrat masses at the convention as judging by the ratings, no one but political junkie is watching anyway. Speaking in platitudes is always done well by the master.

I for one feel that our standing in the world is much better than at this time yesterday, we've now officially nominated a man of color for the presidency so we're in the good graces of all those nuanced European nations who've done the same like...er...uh...I'll get back to you on that.

Perhaps Bill can help bring about unity in the other ongoing liberal war before it leads to casualties, hurt feelings or Armageddon.
