Cap and Tax Craters

Sphere: Related Content

That sound you heard earlier today was the sound of a million liberal skulls exploding in unison. They got a watered down (yet still horrific) healthcare bill, Gitmo is still open, Obama increased troops in Afghanistan instead of bringing them home and now the Dems are selling them out on their long-held and most desired wet dream:

WASHINGTON—The U.S. Senate is shelving efforts to pass legislation that would limit emissions of heat-trapping gases linked to climate change, dealing a major blow to one of President Barack Obama's top priorities.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) said Thursday that neither he nor the White House had persuaded 60 senators to support even a limited proposal seeking to restrict emission from electric-power companies. Mr. Reid offered no timetable for action on such a bill, but said Democrats would continue trying to build support for such legislation.

Mr. Reid said the party's leadership will push instead for more limited legislation, aimed at holding oil giant BP PLC "accountable" for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. Specifically, he said the measure would include a provision to remove the cap on economic damages paid to residents and small businesses by oil companies after oil spills. Mr. Reid said the bill would also include incentives to encourage the production and purchase of vehicles fueled by natural gas, and to fund various land and water-conservation programs.
It's all bullshit as anyone with a brain knows. The public has no patience for a new law that will increase energy prices potentially 30-50%, will cause a drastic rise in consumer prices, destroy what ever profits small business makes and, in light of the Climategate scandal, will probably serve no good purpose.

Reid knew full-well that this bill would have been used like a club to beat incumbent Dems with and would have ensured the loss of both chambers.

Sorry libs, greens and watermelons (green on the outside and red on the inside) but your dream of forcing us to pay exorbitant prices for energy have taken a backseat in the name of politics.

Race Plays Into Every Obama Administration Decision

Remember when we elected Obama and we were told that we have now entered a post-racial America? Instead, we now have an America divided by race but it's not white people who are the oppressors but the exact opposite:

[D]ealerships were retained because they were recently appointed, were key wholesale parts dealers, or were minority- or woman-owned dealerships. [Emphasis added.]
Not unexpected as Obama has zero business experience and grew to maturity under the tutelage of Reverend Jeremiah Wright who speaks nothing but racial disharmony. Instead of making the smart business decision to shutter dealerships that were making little profit, he opted to choose who stays open and who closes based on the type of chromosome or the color of the owners skin. The exact opposite of what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. preached.

As William Tate notes:

Thus, to meet numbers forced on them by the Obama administration, General Motors and Chrysler were forced to shutter other, potentially more viable, dealerships. The livelihood of potentially tens of thousands of families was thus eliminated simply because their dealerships were not minority- or woman-owned.

As has been widely reported, the Inspector General's study skewered the Obama Gang for strong-arming the companies into closing 2,000 dealerships, costing an estimated 100,000 people their jobs during a recession.
Note that it's you and I who own Chrysler and General Motors and we are forced to just accept the fact that Barack Obama made what should have been a purely business choice based solely on race and gender, thus putting our investment in a deeper hole.

That's the entire philosophy of Team Obama: when in doubt, choose the option that's not best for America but best for minority Americans.

Saturday Morning News & Notes

Sphere: Related Content

The non-blogging hiatus is over and you'll see more frequent posts as we near election time.

Here's what's news:

-I'm guessing the Democrats will the lowest Jewish turnout for them ever. Thanks to Obama's disjointed policy toward Israel and idiocy like this.

-The Brits are going the route of funneling money into businesses that are job creators not government that kills employment. More importantly; the infusion of money is into the National Health Service and is designed to replace government workers with private contractors...the exact opposite of what we are doing in America. Note: the link is to the communist rag The Guardian so take that for what it's worth. Also note that liberal commenter's are apoplectic.

-When even Ezra Klein realizes just how devastated our employment sector is, you know it's to dismal to hide anymore. 12.5 years to return to normalcy? The numbers don't even support that frightful outlook. More here.

-Hollywood has no shame when it comes to portraying strong, conservative women who've changed history for the better. Of course, the real facts such as the leadership of Baroness Thatcher helped bring down the Soviet Union and other memorable events don't fit the narrative so they just plan on making shit up:

He adds of the film: “Although fictional, it will be fair and accurate.”

Update: Like I said: they're just making shit up now.

Fake but accurate is the meme of lowlife progressives who can't win an argument through intelligent discourse and facts.

How's That Recovery Summer Working For Ya?

Sphere: Related Content

This was destined to be the summer we started to turn things around, took steps toward the bold new Obama-inspired economy where everyone had a green job and The One was exulted for delivering us from the evils of free-market economics.

How's that working out for you?

Apparently, not so well:

The Consumer Price Index, the government's most closely watched inflation barometer, dipped 0.1 percent in June, the Labor Department reported Friday. Less expensive energy bills were a big factor behind the drop.

But the good news for consumers was tempered by another report that detailed their glum outlook.

An index of consumer sentiment compiled from a survey by the University of Michigan and Reuters fell to 66.5 in early July from 76. That, along with disappointing earnings reports from two large banks, Citigroup Inc. and Bank of America Corp., sent stocks tumbling. The Dow Jones industrial average closed Friday down 261.41, or 2.52 percent.

The Consumer Price Index report said that, along with declining energy costs, prices for some food items, airlines fares, computers, telephone service, and personal-care products also fell last month.

"Core" consumer prices, which strip out volatile energy and food costs, rose 0.2 percent in June. That means core prices rose only 0.9 percent over the last year. That is below the Fed's inflation target and means core prices are holding at a 44-year low.
The dreaded deflationary pressures coupled with Americans' just not buying into what Obama is selling has kept us on the road to ruin. What has the administration done? Quite a bit and all of it wrong.

Keynesian theory holds that you spend your way out of a recession and is hawked by snake oil salesmen like the vile Paul Krugman. I must admit that I do find a certain bit of glee watching Krugman espouse the virtues of this theory daily and make up more and more wildly inventive reasons as to why it's really working when it's failing epically. It must be hard for a Nobel laureate in economics to see every thing he believed proven dreadfully wrong. He'll pull the old liberal rope-a-dope that it wasn't implemented correctly and that's why it failed to work much as acolytes of communism bray that it does indeed work but the Soviet Union, Cuba and every other nation that tried it didn't implement it correctly...but I digress.

Things continue to be bad and Obama seems to have no new ideas so he's going back to discarded and debunked progressive ideas and programs that got us into this mess while simultaneously dictating onerous new regulations upon those who would pull us out (but written to help out the Democrats cronies while hurting the consumer and small business).

So how do we get out of this morass? By speaking loudly at the polls and casting Boxer, Reid, Murray and every other liberal politician out. First we put a stop to the constant barrage of liberal programs passed by the Dems and then begin to roll back the damaging social and economic programs enacted that will cost us trillions for little or no reward.

As for me, I'm just gonna enjoy my "recovery summer" by grabbing my fishing rod and a 12-pack and try to numb myself to what is happening until about mid-September where the real election action starts. I hope you have enough to do the same wherever you are because hey, it's all about "funemployment".
