OK, the list of things that are off-limits when discussing Barack Obama includes the following:
His wife
His race
Reverend Wright
Father Pflegel
Louis Farrakhan
William Ayers
Lapel pins
His middle name
Countrywide
Tony Rezko...
The list goes on and grows daily.
But now, even fellow libs can't make fun of Obama's flip-flops and outright lies. The PuffHo takes ultra-lib Jon Stewart to task for Obama's recent retreat from public financing and his ridiculous faux presidential seal. Here's the Stewart cut via Hot Air:
Here's some solipsistic bastard over at the PuffHo warning Stewart that no satire aimed at Obama will be tolerated by the liberal intelligentsia:
Jon Stewart and The Daily Show should be mindful whenever Obama is the target of their satire that they don't end up regurgitating Republican talking points. The Daily Show is far more influential than it was four years ago when Bush still had millions of people duped. The producers should be careful when poking fun at Obama not to provide fuel for the right-wing slime machine. Poke fun at Obama all you want, but do it in a way that also reveals the Republicans' mendacity and hypocrisy.Got that? You can make fun of Obama but you must also make fun of the GOP at the same time. This misses the point that Stewart busts on the GOP every night and in fact busted on them for the rest of the show after ridiculing Obama. They even want the Fairness Doctrine invoked on the liberal, satirical show aired on TV. Note the words: "careful," "mindful," "Republican talking points," etc. That is a veiled threat but one just the same. Memo to Joey, we on the right can laugh at our candidates and our politics because we have what's known in the world outside of academia as "a sense of humor". Google it.
Now don't get me wrong, a liberal assistant professor from CSUS has about as much pull with Stewart as, well I do but this is a sampling of things to come. And BTW, every single blogger on the right who has a bio lists the basics. Not this tool, he has to list every degree he's ever earned as if it's his friggin' resume. My favorite is his "expertise" in "presidential war powers". Now who in hell would list that on a blog bio?
Note to Joey boy, Glenn Reynolds is a professor--not an "assistant professor"--of law at the University of Tennessee but he doesn't trumpet it in his about page. He doesn't list his degrees but instead talks about his musical tastes and such because when you're smart and insightful, you don't have to list your academic resume.
