Bush Talks to Politico

In his first interview with purely new media, President Bush spoke on numerous topics with Politico and Yahoo.

On the Dems plans to withdrawal from Iraq:

“...of course is that extremists throughout the Middle East would be emboldened, which would eventually lead to another attack on the United States.”
Amen and I've written extensively on this subject. I'm of a mind that Bush has stepped up terrorist eradication efforts within the last year planning for just such a Dem maneuver.

More:

— Global warming has “been more clearly defined as a problem” during his eight years in office, and when asked if it is real, Bush said: “Yes, it is real, sure is.”

“I could have supported a lousy [Kyoto] treaty and everybody would have went, ‘Oh, man, what a wonderful-sounding fellow he is,’” Bush said. “But it just wouldn't have worked.
While I agree Kyoto is a seriously flawed plan, the fact that the President is agreeing that global warming even exists is a problem to me. Temps are down and many scientists are changing their thinking about whether this was a crisis or not. It's flawed science that has become cottage industry. Al Gore has turned global warming lunacy into a billion dollar business--he's played on our fears!

Finally on the Mideast where Bush is currently headed:

“Americans at home ought to care for the advance of free societies throughout the Middle East. After all, this is the center of anti-Americanism and hatred,” he said. “The big challenge in the 21st century is to advance freedom in the Middle East for our security.”
That will be his legacy, folks. A peaceful and secure Mideast means a peaceful and secure world in the short term. While China and Russia will be future problems we'll deal with, the main issue is Islamic terror and democracies are the only way to a more peaceful future.

Props to the Politico and Yahoo for scoring this interview.
