The Imploding Hillary Campaign

Sphere: Related Content

You know, sometimes political events unfold and you just want to grab a beer and some popcorn, stretch out and watch the train wreck happen. That's pretty much how I feel about Hillary's campaign right about now.

The press coddled her for months defending her by not reporting the Hsu issue and other faux pas. Then she hit the wall in the last debate and they couldn't stop from piling on, I mean she looked like a flip-flopping, blithering idiot. Most people already knew that but the press is a bit slow on the uptake.

Between her planting questions with students (an unknown amount of times) and her sudden decision to clarify her position that she was not, in fact, for drivers licenses for illegals that was Spitzer torpedoed, we've seen a glimpse behind the carefully crafted facade that is Candidate Hillary. It's about to get uglier for the former Queen of Whitewater:

Three recipients of controversial 11th-hour pardons issued by former President Bill Clinton in January 2001 have donated thousands of dollars to the presidential campaign of his wife, Democratic front-runner Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., according to campaign finance records examined by ABC News, in what some good government groups said created an appearance of impropriety.

"It's not illegal," Melanie Sloan, executive director of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, told ABC News. "But, of course, it's inappropriate and she should return the money. It does raise the appearance that this is payback.

Her camp is playing the old Hillary didn't know who made the donations card as expected. That raises an even greater issue, she saw the hit she took with the Hsu investigation so one would suspect that she would take a fine-toothed comb to her donation records. Now they find several people pardoned by Bubba on her donor list. Either she's a liar, has a tendency to select highly incompetent subordinates or is so used to the media giving her a pass that she thinks she can get away with it using the old Clinton charm and charisma. On the first point of her being a liar...well, yeah. The second part is more intriguing as the legacy of the Clinton's may be catching up to them; all people who work for them end up shamed (think Sandy Burger who's waiting for Hillary to win so she can pardon his thieving ass as well) and on the third part, Hillary has no charm and charisma and the media are being hounded by the blogosphere so they have to report incidents as big as this one.

Note the people who donated, the one that is the most galling is John Deutch, former DDI of the CIA who was playing fast and loose with classified material. Of course, with the Clinton's who wasn't.

Either way, it's a real blast watching Hillary slither and squirm through her campaign and as an added bonus, we get to watch her in a debate tonight.
