Border Fence Bill Signed

President Bush--against his own wishes--signed the hot-button border fence bill today. The bill calls for a meager 700-miles of fence located at several points and in several border states.

The bill is an election-year sop to the base but it beats nothing I guess. We need a real border security effort in place asap or we will pay the price.
