Your Money is No Good There

A returning US soldier is looking for a place to visit before returning to the states. One of his parents asks Tim Blair about Australia. As a vet who visited there, I recommend Oz as the perfect destination.

Of all the countries I've visited--from Hong Kong to Bali, Indonesia--I enjoyed no place more than Australia. The people were excellent and the atmosphere was boisterous. By the way, that was in sleepy Darwin.

Tim says:

Sydney, for a start, so I can buy the man a drink. He isn’t spending a cent here.

I don't recall spending too much myself, being that we were there and in Papua New Guinea celebrating the 50th anniversary of the liberation of that region from the Japanese.
