Larry Johnson Spins

Sphere: Related Content

Larry Johnson spins like a top while defending the CIA leaker:

I am struck by the irony that Mary McCarthy may have been fired for blowing the whistle and ensuring that the truth about an abuse was told to the American people.

Perhaps no one has told Larry that the honorable Ms. McCarthy seems to have been set up in a sting. The EU found no proof of these prisons existing so the entire premise that she blew the whistle is false. McCarthy was nothing but a partisan hack who saw a chance to slam GWB at the risk of exposing top secret info.

...There is something potentially honorable in that action; particularly when you consider that George Bush authorized Scooter Libby to leak misleading information for the purpose of deceiving the American people about the grounds for going to war in Iraq.

Again, our hero neglects the simple fact that the president cannot leak. He is the ultimate authority on what is and is not classified.

While I'm neither a fan nor friend of Mary's, she may have done a service for her country. She was a lousy manager in my experience, but she is not a traitor and has not betrayed the identity of an undercover intelligence officer.

And at this point, no one has been indicted for betraying the identity of an undercover intelligence officer. Scooter Libby was indicted for perjury.

That dirty work was done by the minions of George Bush and Dick Cheney. It is important to keep that fact in the forefront as the judgment on Mary McCarthy's acts is rendered.

These are two mutually exclusive cases that Johnson is attempting to link. There's zero link between the two.

The header on his blog reads as follows:

Tired of Spin in the No Spin Zone? Wanting some Hardball but tired of a host that tosses NERF balls? This blog takes no prisoners and offers no quarter on issues of your security in today's dangerous world. We don't care if you agree or disagree with us. We only care that you think about what we write.

Well Larry, I've thought about what you've written and I have to say that after careful consideration you're full of crap.

By the way, Dana Priest's Pulitzer should have a huge asterisk next to it since what she reported was essentially false.

Ace has more including a slam at Johnson.

Update: Fellow RINO AJ Strata has had a great day. He's all over this story.
