Iran and the Bomb Part 2

Sphere: Related Content

There's a sense in the blogosphere that war with Iran is in the offing. Not just on the "Bush is an imperialist and warmonger" left, but on the right.

I for one think that if we do flex our muscles, Iran will capitulate. This is not a timid and tentative Jimmy Carter mounting a rescue effort with a neglected military. This is a locked and loaded military that is battle hardened and ready to rock.

One thing that has escaped the non-military folks is that our armed forces have learned an entirely new way to fight a war. Call it the 21st Century way. Not tank engagements from a distance, but close quarter action within the confines of a city (the very type of war the anti-war types and media [repetition, I know] screamed we'd get destroyed fighting).

We could launch a full scale invasion of Iran and probably be in Teheran within a month.

That is is exactly why war will not be necessary. Iran also knows this and if we mass our troops at the border, they will have no option but to back down. They saw what happened when Saddam decided to test us for the umpteenth time; they pulled him out of a hole.

We are not a far off force threatening the ayatollahs with a few cruise missiles, we are a hardened fist that surrounds Iran on two sides like a vice and they know it.

That may just be enough to keep Israel from having to do the dirty work again.
