James Lileks:
Tell it to the Saudis, as long as you're in the neighborhood -- Prince Saud al-Faisal opposes the Iranian bomb, although he blames Israel for the problem in the first place. Damnable pesky nation, insisting on surviving: the sheer cheek of those Jews.
Tell it to International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Mo ElBaradei, who, sporting the rented testes that U.N. types like to use when diplomacy proves futile, threatened the Iranians with "force" if additional palaver fails.
No one wants Iran to have the bomb, except the apocalyptically minded mullahs. For them there is no God but Allah, and J. Robert Oppenheimer is his messenger. At least it's not that bad.
Scott Ritter could be defending Iran.
Classic Lileks.
The UN has been wringing their hands for months as Iran has been using thos hands to construct a viable nuclear program with which to destroy Israel and assume the leadership of the gulf states.
Mohammed el-Barradei, Nobel Laureate, has done nothing at all to curtail these development except apply some tape to some components, which was duly ripped off at the first opportunity.
It will come down to the Israeli's handling the situation once again. I can see it now, the "Zionists" will bomb the requisite sites, the world will curse the them and several denunciations will pass through the UN, and the US will rfemain silent because they had a hand in locating the sites.
Quietly, the IAEA will breathe a sigh of relief while saying out loud what a horrible act of aggression the Israeli's have perpetrated.
Watch, it'll happen.
Update: The EU is involved with Russia wavering (the shock!), I feel so much better now.
