Down Syndrome and Abortion

OTB has an interesting post concerning the ability to detect Down Syndrome earlier (first tri-mester) and the resultant abortions.

I'm a bit skeptical because I've seen a case where expectant parents were told that their unborn child may have Down Syndrome but had another, almost minor problem that has since been fixed.
