Asking the Wrong Question About Abortion Dr. Killer (Updated)

Sphere: Related Content

Rabid anti-abortionist Scott Roeder murdered one of the few doctors who performed late-term abortions yesterday. Scott Roeder is purely and simply a terrorist who killed because of ideology. He's no different than Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, Ramzi Yousef or a Hamas suicide bomber. Terrorists should be prosecuted if possible or liquidated if not.

That said, I found the title to Ezra Klein's piece amusing:

How Should Congress Respond to George Tiller's Murder?
And there it is in a nutshell; the answer to everything liberals see as a problem is to have Congress enact new laws. I guess Klein doesn't understand that there are a few hundred statutes on the books dealing with murder and nearly anyone of them will put Roeder away for life. But no, Klein wants a law that is specifically designed and presumably named after the doctor, George Tiller.

As with any call for hate crimes legislation; it seems ludicrous to pass legislation that would be redundant and would be used extremely rarely. How many abortion doctors have actually been murdered? The assassination of Dr. Slepian is the only other one I can recall. Certainly not enough to support the creation of a specific bill to deal with it though.

As an aside, I find it humorous that the entire liberal establishment is going crazy over this murder of a single doctor while they essentially sat on their collective hands in the aftermath of 9/11 except when they removed them to type that it was America's fault in general and G.W. Bush's in particular. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying this wasn't a heinous crime but I am saying that the left in this country didn't show this much outrage when it was nearly 3,000 people murdered instead of a single physician who performed abortions. Both were acts of terror but only one was perpetrated by a person whom liberals actually consider an enemy.

Update: Oh yeah, it was Bill O'Reilly's fault a psycho gunned down a doctor just as it was Rush's fault that Timothy McVeigh blew up the Murrah building. Funny, they rallied around Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dornh who were instrumental in some acts of terror as well.

Update 2: A military recruiter (Update: Supposedly the murdered man was a recruit just out of bootcamp) was murdered today. I'm guessing it was an act committed by someone who hates the military although that is not confirmed as of yet. How much you want to bet that very few liberals even mention it even though it is essentially the same exact thing? As of right now there are none. Michelle Malkin has more.
