Secret Ballots For Me But Not For Thee

Sphere: Related Content

Sen. Joe Lieberman is in the sights of many of his liberal Democrat brethren. For the sin of supporting John McCain, Joementum is probably going to be forced out as Chairman of the homeland security committee.

However, they plan to give Democrat Senators secrecy while at the same time are planning on denying secrecy to millions of Americans. First the Lieberman vote:

WASHINGTON — - Senate Democrats will decide by secret ballot Tuesday whether to take away Sen. Joe Lieberman's chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee — a post from which he oversees U.S. security issues, as well as the operations of a wide segment of the federal government.

The anger over Lieberman's campaigning for the Republican presidential candidate is still boiling — fueled by memories of his undercutting Barack Obama, including in a nationally televised speech at the Republican National Convention.

Majority Leader Harry Reid met with Lieberman two days after the election, telling him that his chairmanship might be on the line.
Note how they give themselves cover while simultaneously hiding their votes from the people who elected them. No transparency here.

But wait, when it comes to the American worker, they want 100% transparency for voting:

The legislation would make union organizing radically easier by bypassing federally monitored elections with an open petition drive. If a majority of workers sign the cards, then a workplace is unionized.

Unions see it as the best hope for reviving their sagging numbers, which have dropped to just 12% of the work force and only 7.5% of the private-sector work force.
Critics, led by big business, say card check would let unions intimidate and coerce workers into signing since the process would end the secret ballot in federally monitored elections.
So let's summarize: secret ballots are good for those elected dirt bags who seek political cover but are not a good idea for a guy who wants to vote against unionization. A Senator who votes against Joe faces some small scrutiny from his party. A guy who votes no on unionization faces union thugs who are named Rocco and like to break kneecaps. But hey, the Dems have to pay back the unions for backing them with slush fund money worker dues so if it hurts the economy or small business, so be it. It sounds as if the Donks are really for the "little guy" doesn't it?

Believe me, this is a top priority fot the Dems regardless of what the IBD piece says. This and the Fairness Doctrine will be front and center come January 20th.

Hope and change indeed.

We must have card check so all companies in the land may be blessed by their very own version of the UAW.

they are ashamed, so they will do it and not have to face a someone who was often a friend of theirs.

Their "sagging numbers" include 35.9% of all public sector workers. Gotta protect yourself from exploitation by the American taxpayer, I suppose.

We must make a commitment to refuse to buy Union if card check is passed.
