The Phils needed this game in a big way with Milwaukee throwing Sabathia tomorrow.
Cole Hamels threw a gem giving up no runs, two hits, one walk and nine K's. Utley came up with the clutch hit driving in 2 (video here) but the Phils only grinded out four hits against a pitcher they should have handled easily.
Lidge struggled throwing 35 pitches in the ninth but settled in and struck out the side for the save. Charlie Manuel made the correct choice in pulling Hamels with the heart of the Brewers order coming up and all right handers.

The Dodgers smacked the Cubs, which is a shocker and could mean bad things in Chicago with a short series.
