Andrew Sullivan Has Lost His Friggin' Mind

Sphere: Related Content

Andrew Sullivan has taken time out of his all-consuming, tinfoil hat search for proof that Trig Palin came not from the womb of Sarah but from Bristol. He decided to post something even more insane:

There was always going to be a point of revolt and panic for a core group of Americans who believe that Obama simply cannot be president - because he's black or liberal or young or relatively new. This is that point. As the polls suggest a strong victory, the Hannity-Limbaugh-Steyn-O'Reilly base are going into shock and extreme rage. McCain and Palin have decided to stoke this rage, to foment it, to encourage paranoid notions that somehow Obama is a "secret" terrorist or Islamist or foreigner. These are base emotions in both sense of the word.

But they are also very very dangerous. This is a moment of maximal physical danger for the young Democratic nominee. And McCain is playing with fire. If he really wants to put country first, he will attack Obama on his policies - not on these inflammatory, personal, creepy grounds. This is getting close to the atmosphere stoked by the Israeli far right before the assassination of Rabin.

For God's sake, McCain, stop it. For once in this campaign, put your country first.
Yes, the man who has been fanatical in pursuit of proof that a girl who was pregnant when her brother was born was capable of eschewing millions of years of biological science and was able to give birth to Trig is telling Senator McCain to quit attacking Obama using "personal, creepy grounds". Pot. Kettle. Black.

But no, the arbiter of all things gay couldn't stop there. He's casually throwing out the warning that McCain is stoking his base so much that one of us will go out and assassinate the Illinois Senator. Perhaps Andy ought to take a sec and read this. This, of course, flies in the face of actual violence perpetrated by Obama supporters in Denver and Saint Paul, violence that resulted in police officers being injured. Or even threatened violence against Palin.

Sullivan is a joke, something we all knew prior to today but he has now become a parody of himself. His sanity has to be questioned with every new post he writes for a magazine that was once the proud home of the late Michael Kelly and now has disintegrated into a daily sounding board for this sniveling hack.

For God's sake, Sully, stop it. For once in this campaign, put reality first.

What does kill him, bomb obama... what does that mean to you? This hate is spreading and it takes ONE person to act, ONE person to do something horrible, that i think would forever change this world. This is your party spewing this sh*t. and yes I think it is a scary scary place to be. Those morons at the rnc are total idiots, but the hate I hear at these rallies and the crazy eyes I see in republicans face to face. It is frightening. It is a bad combination. Hating to lose and for a lot hating to lose to a black man. Racism is alive and I hope and pray that the first black man at the white house does not die while being there.

Hearing mccain say what he said today it was a glimpse at the old mccain, the real mccain. Fox news is not even mentioning that. How gross.

I hope I am wrong... but the hate and the arab, muslim talk about obama is running wild. Sullivan is way over the top, but I do not think this is that far off base. There were two conservative columns today mentioning this topic.
