There are some songs that are just a bit off-kilter enough that they grow on you or you may think they're good the first time you hear them even though they are odd. This is a collection of those songs.
First, the Presidents of the United States of America with "Peaches." A song about, well...peaches in a, among other things, "a can or pie":
Next we have a newer one from the Colorado band Flo Bots. Anti-war? Anti-Bush? Extremelyliberal? Maybe but definitely interesting and somewhat hopeful and dreadful at the same time:
Next, the Kinks who created the odd song genre with the transvestite song Lola. This is Sunny Afternoon with Ray lamenting his girlfriend leaving with his money and being stuck with a portly woman. When life gets you down, drink beer in the sunshine, it may not make your problems go away but you forget about them short-term.
Finally Offspring, Dexter Holland seems to have a great sense of humor such as on Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) where he rips white wannabes. But he hit it here with his take on modern, sexually liberated culture and the video is genius:
Honorable mention to Sublime.
