Dem Debate Thoughts

Sphere: Related Content

I wouldn't exactly call any points of the debate highlights but there were several interesting moments:

I agree with Mark Ambinger that Hillary sounds strained when talking about the war. She's more hawkish than Obama but has to temper that because of the retreat and defeat-supporting base. It's one point that could sink her.

Immigration is a touchy issue for both candidates. In a shrinking economy, the unions and blue collar-types will start getting antsy about job availability and if you need a job currently being held by someone who broke the law to get here, you'll probably be a bit upset about it. Hillary was brutal on this.

Obama didn't do anything in my mind that hurt him too bad and Hillary didn't say anything that will sway those who abhor her to her side. Obama has been swinging people in an amazing fashion--by talking concisely about his plans. He has a message and it seems to be resonating with the base. Hillary still has her hard core following and always will but Obama is picking off those who may waver. Hillary did pick up maybe the strangest endorsement yet, however.

All in all we saw a Hillary cackle, Wolf Blitzer doing everything to not upset the libs and an overall night of nothing of consequence.
