Republicans Have Better Mental Health Than Dems

In what has to be the biggest "no shit" moment in quite some time, a study has shown that Republicans are a bit more sane than Dems:

A roundup of Gallup health polls over the past four years finds that Republicans are far more likely than Democrats to report having excellent mental health.

The survey found that 58 percent of Republicans polled reported having excellent mental health. Only 38 percent of Democrats and 43 percent of Independents reported the same.

The study concluded it was unclear why there was such a strong correlation, but the relationship between party affiliation and mental health was virtually constant even within categories of income, age, gender and other factors.

"The reason the relationship exists between being a Republican and more positive mental health is unknown, and one cannot say whether something about being a Republican causes a person to be more mentally healthy or whether something about being mentally healthy causes a person to choose to become a Republican," the study said.
I think it's a little bit of both.

It can't be good for the psyche to wring ones hands on a daily basis about issues of importance. The libs and Dems live on nuance and look for nuance in every single issue. Repubs look at an issue from all sides, decide whether it's right or wrong and are done with it. Libs also tend to be very into themselves, note that in the right blogosphere, posts are linked without regard to opinion or point. Plus, the right blogosphere links repeatedly to each other while the left blogosphere links to a few, selected and approved sites.

Lastly, I think the majority of the reason we feel mentally healthier is that we are sure of our position. It must be a miserable existence hoping for bad things to happen in Iraq so that you can scold the President and say "see, I was right". Imagine hoping that news stories of the surge succeeding are wrong and that things are really going poorly over there. Read their posts, they're mean and vindictive and don't take too kindly to dissension from within.

Here's a little advice to my liberal friends and please take it to heart because I'm a compassionate conservative and I care:

First, stop blaming everything in the world on Bush. He'll be gone in a year or so and it won't be wearing an orange jumpsuit. The last seven years of you obsessing over every move he makes has had a detrimental effect to your well-being. Stop comparing the man to Satan or Hitler, it just isn't good for you.

Next, try sending an e-card to a soldier, sailor, airman or Marine. You can do it anonymously and your friends wouldn't have to know about it. Log off of the cesspool that is Fire Dog Lake for a minute, send an e-card to by clicking here over to the battle zone and give a guy or girl who's protecting you encouragement and thanks. It won't cost you anything and the feeling you'll get inside is priceless.

Lastly, remember that you live in the greatest nation that has ever existed. Sure there are some flaws but our capitalist way of life has given us great things. Do we have poor people, yes we do. Are they poor when compared to other nations? No, not even close. Quit hating America and love this country for what it is, a place where one can do whatever one wishes and attain anything by hard work and education.

Consider this a public service announcement from one who cares about his fellow citizen.
