Right-Wing Radio Strong--Hip Hop Tanking

The new Arbitron ratings system results are out and rightwing talk radio is pulling even greater numbers than expected:

Between 10am and 3pm, a period that includes Rush Limbaugh, WABC was shorted 96,000 listeners, which now appear under PPM. Total weekly reach for the station during this time period is now estimated at 646,000.

Sean Hannity was the biggest winner under PPM: his audience was found to be 182,000 persons larger than previously believed, bringing the the station's 3-7pm total to 642,000.
These are NYC numbers so it figures that local boy Hannity's numbers are really strong. I'd like to see his numbers in other areas, yet still a good showing.

Here's where it gets interesting; hip-hop and rap numbers were off dramatically under the new system. That makes sense as all you need to do is look at the top albums and the duration they are on the charts when juxtaposed with country and rock.

Urban activists are up in arms but you'll have to go read Brian for that.
