US Slams al-Qaeda in Somalia

US AC-130 gunships pounded al-Qaeda positions in Somalia and it's believed we got a key figure in the African embassy bombings of 1998.

I wrote this last night at the AOL site:

I can't wait to see how the left spin this. Here we have a case of al-Qaeda leadership--quite possibly those who murdered Americans--being mowed down by U.S. planes. These folks didn't attack us on 9/11 either, their organization did. They were responsible for the deaths of Americans and hopefully we took them out after more than eight years.

Well, Taylor Marsh was among the first to condemn us for taking out the terrorists:

UPDATE (12:30 a.m. - 1.9.07): Okay, let's hash this out a bit. Meles Zenawi is our Prime Minister in Ethiopia. He's our guy that we in fact backed to invade Somalia and topple the UIC, the Union of Islamic Courts. That's what the Bush administration wanted because they see the UIC as Islamists pushing Taliban like existence on the people of Somalia. Never mind what the TGF are doing. Below is an article that Ian offered, which I'm going to share. The TGF stands for Somali Transitional Federal Government, which is a fancy way to say a bunch of thugs who are basically doing Zenawi's bidding in a country that is not his own. This won't last because Zenawi has troubles of his own, but I digress.

In her defense, she later tempered her comments, but the above is the absolute visceral reaction of an avowed lefty. Here's another, lesser moonbat:

Note the multiple nature of the suspicion. These men are believed responsible for acts of terrorism, and the people who were attacked were believed to be the men in question. Evidently that forms a sound basis for administering (or, at least, attempting to administer) the death penalty, at least by U.S. standards.

Read the entire, inane post and note this nice little turn. In this idiots eyes, we murdered Saddam and we are performing an illegal operation to get the fleeing members of al-Qaeda.

Whatever dude, they killed Americans and deserved to die. Perhaps we should have sent you over to Mogadishu and you could have reasoned with them as they were removing your head from your infidel body.
