Britain is getting heat from their press about the changeover of signs to metric in time for the Olympics:
BRITAIN must convert all road signs to metric in time for the 2012 Olympics or risk being seen as a backward nation clinging to an awkward and outmoded measurement system, according to a report published today.
Or risk being seen as a backward nation? At the risk of sounding backward, I would like to grab Ben and put my foot--measured as 12 inches of course--in his ass just because he's a bloviating Euro blowhard. Euro's love to take camouflaged stabs at the US using tactics such as this.
There's a reason why the US still measures in inches. Ask any woman who has fooled around with both a Euro and an American and they'll tell you why the Euros use measurements such as centimetres--especially the whining writers for the British press.

Forgive me. I am a little confused, are you for or against Metric?
Right: the rest of the world uses SI units and the US doesn't. CLEARLY the rest of the world is moronic.
Here, let me put it this way:
"EVERYONE IS CRAZY BUT ME! I'M THE ONLY SANE ONE HERE!"
What's the boiling point of water off of the top of your head, in Fahrenheit? Don't know it without googling it? What's the boiling point of water off of the top of your head in Celsius? 100.
0 = freezing, 100 = boiling. Much easier to understand, and it makes sense.
I'd rather have a system that uses powers of 10 to convert rather than sitting there and using outrageous conversion factors between things such as 12 inches to 1 foot.
I have to say that I totally agree with the last argument you give there. Its so right that measuring something in the imperial system makes something bigger than measuring it in the metric system.
And there are lots of reasons for using the imperial system; like....
ok seriously, i can't keep this up. Regardless of the author being ironic or not, wtf is wrong with you people? Like there is no fucking sense in using the imperial system in the 21 century. Scientists in every(!) country use the metric system.
