The Danish left seems to find itself on the wrong side of the Mohammed cartoon chaos:
Gains in the wake of the Mohammed drawing crisis have the Danish People's Party on the verge of becoming the nation's second most popular political party
The Danish People's Party is surging in the political wake of the Mohammed drawing crisis. The party's gains come at the cost of the opposition Social Democrats, currently the second largest party in parliament.
A Jyllands-Posten/Rambøll poll taken two weeks after the crisis began to escalate found that if an election were held today, the Danish People's Party would gain eight extra seats in parliament, raising their total to 32. The Social Democrats would loose (sic) nine, falling to 38.
Time and again we've seen politicians who don't govern by polls but by what's right standout and gain because of it. In Denmark, this seems as though it is a nationalist issue and--just like the Democrats in America--the Social Democrats seem as though they are anti-Denmark or at least pro-Muslim.
I do not know if the Jyllands-Posten/Ramboll poll was done as American polls are, but it seems as though this is accurate.
