Zarqawi Kills More Muslims

Abu Musab Zarqawi said this yesterday:

"We ask God to have mercy on the Muslims, who we did not intend to target, even if they were in hotels which are centers of immorality," the voice on the tape said.

"The idea that they blew up inside wedding ceremonies is a lie by the Jordanian regime ... The target was a meeting of intelligence agencies, but a roof collapsed on a wedding party from the blast," he said.

How will he explain this:

BAGHDAD, Iraq - Suicide bombers killed 74 worshippers at two Shiite mosques near the Iranian border Friday, while a pair of car bombs targeting a Baghdad hotel housing Western journalists killed eight Iraqis.

The suicide attackers targeted the Sheik Murad mosque and the Khanaqin Grand Mosque in Khanaqin, 90 miles northeast of Baghdad, as dozens of people were attending Friday prayers, police said. The police command said 74 people were killed and 75 wounded in the largely Kurdish town.

...The suicide attacker walked into the mosque and detonated his explosives in the middle of a group of people, said Ali Abdullah.

Omar Saleh, 73, said from his bed at Kalar hospital that he was bowing in prayer when the bomb exploded.

"The roof fell on us and the place was filled with dead bodies," he said.

I guess he will explain it away by saying they weren't Muslims at prayer, they were intelligence agents and Zionists.

I further guess that he'll have to expand on his statement and say that he doesn't intentionally murder Sunni Muslims.

Zarqawi is alienating himself from the more mainstream Muslims and may have gone too far after the attacks in Amman and these mosque attacks.

Update: Richard Miniter reports that US forces have been very efective against Zarqawi and his inner circle.
