Time to Clean House

Sphere: Related Content

It's that time. Time to take a firehose to the Capitol building and wash all the sleaze into the DC sewer system again.

American's are well equipped to handle missteps by politicians such as adultery, fibbing and the like. Hell the Donks have a man who was involved in a death when his car went off a bridge and another guy who was a Kleagle in the KKK as their "elder statesmen". We are a forgiving lot, as long as the political trespass does not include money.

When you are corrupt, the capacity for forgiveness is gone. We have the current Abramoff scandal occurring that has snagged Tom DeLay and now Democratic Senator Byron Dorgan. We saw the resignation of San Diego County Republican Representative Randy "Duke" Cunningham yesterday.

(Update: Jeez Duke, if you're gonna be corrupt, be corrupt to the fullest)

Every decade or so, we have a scandal that arises like this in which the electorate says "enough!" I think we may be very close to that time.

It's healthy I think, to give the House and Senate a collective enema every so often. We've gotten soft as a nation with our incumbents. We elect them and they keep on staying until they retire or are indicted. Now we need some new blood in both chambers on both sides of the aisle.

Now's the time.

The Abramoff scandal will drag and ruin the careers of many more politicians or it will unearth more scandals yet to be revealed.

Next year, vote out the incumbents. I know readers of my site want to keep the Republican majority as do I, so vote for the other Republican in the primary and make the other incumbents who are skulking inside the beltway think about what they've wrought.
