The War on Terror Continues

Saddam's old special forces are being utilized in fighting the terrorist insurgents throughout Iraq:

NEAR ISKANDARIYA, Iraq (Reuters) - Twenty months after toppling Saddam Hussein (news - web sites), U.S. troops still battling his followers in the heartland of Iraq (news - web sites)'s old arms industry are hitting back with a new weapon -- ex-members of Saddam's special forces.

For five months, Iraqi police commandos calling themselves the Black Scorpions have been based with U.S. Marines in the region along the Euphrates south of Baghdad, which roadside bombs, ambushes and kidnaps have turned into a no-go areas and earned it the melodramatic description "triangle of death."
"All of them were previously officers in the Iraqi army or special forces," the Scorpions' commander, Colonel Salaam Trad, said at the Marines' Kalsu base near Iskandariya on Saturday.
"But Saddam was dirty and no good for Iraq."

Also on the Iraq front, Knight-Ridder has a five day piece on the taking of Fallujah from one of their imbedded reporters:

Standing next to his Humvee, Mayfield screamed for U.S. mortar strikes on the five-man team. After the ensuing rumble, a voice called over the radio: "Can I get a battle damage assessment?"
"An assessment?" the reply came. "There is no more building."
Sims laughed to himself.
Sniper shots pinged off Sims' vehicle.
"Where is that sniper? Here it is," Mayfield barked, turning to a gunner behind an automatic grenade launcher. "Blow him away."
The red-hot streak of another bullet whizzed past. The gunner with the grenade launcher sent round after round hurling towards Fallujah, the reports of the explosions echoing through the streets. Then he pulled a pair of binoculars to his face and announced, "He is not there anymore."

The integration of technology between different divisions and branches is amazing. The piece is pretty straight forward from a reporting standpoint. Kind of like reporting is supposed to be.

Meanwhile, the propaganda wing of al-Qaeda says the US is using napalm. Note the MP who says we're using the napalm; Alice Mahon. Alice seems to be anti-American and shows up throughout Arabic newspapers as a useful idiot. Such as this:

London, Nov 25, IRNA -- A group of MPs are calling on the British parliament to urge Prime Minister Tony Blair to stand up to US threats against Iran's nuclear programme.

...The motion, raised by veteran anti-war MP, Alice Mahon, said it further noted that Iran's statement has been welcomed by Mohamed ElBaredei, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and that the UN watchdog is now checking to confirm.
