Fox News had more viewers for the convention by a long shot:
Fox News attracted more viewers than any of the major broadcast networks during this week's Republican National Convention, an unprecedented victory for a cable channel.
In the 10 p.m. EDT hour Thursday, which included President Bush's speech, Fox cemented its three-day streak of beating its broadcast rivals. Fox averaged 7.3 million viewers, while NBC attracted 5.9 million, ABC claimed 5.1 million and CBS got 5 million.
Atlanta-based CNN, on the other hand, had a disappointing turnout. The network, which won the cable ratings battle during the Democratic convention earlier this summer, attracted just 2.7 million viewers in the 10 p.m. hour on Thursday.
The network did manage to beat MSNBC, which averaged 1.7 million viewers.
The news was no better for CNN for the convention as a whole, in which Fox was the cable winner, followed by CNN and MSNBC, respectively.
Outdrawing CNN is great but the higher ratings than the networks is amazing.
