McGreevey Comes Out

Jim McGreevey today acknowledged that he is homosexual, or in his words "I am a gay American". This was not planned, but forced as the word is that he was about to be sued for sexual harrassment by his Homeland Security chief. There's been a bit of whispering about this but he essentially got a pass by the press. Rightly so in my opinion if it didn't effect his day-to-day administration of government. Now I tend to think that he was being blackmailed by some scumbags that ran roughshod over him and the people of Jersey. That is an issue. I give him credit, however, for saying this in front of the world even if forced. And of course, since this is New Jersey, he will not resign until November so the people of NJ will be stuck with a surrogate until November 2005.

I was never a fan of McGreevey, in fact I disagree with every policy he offered. I respect him for the balls he showed today and his wife for standing next to him while he did it. Unbelieveable, or as I said when he announced it "holy shit".
