The End Of Kerry?

There's a lot more yet to come out with regards to the Sandy Berger, classified intel in his pants, fiasco. Did he do it to protect Clinton? Possibly, but unlikely. Anything that would've effected the Clinton legacy would've come out already via Dick Morris or others. It's possible, but I suspect not very likely. Did he do it to protect Kerry? That to me seems much more plausible. The Dems will do anything,  short of murder, to get control of one of the governmental branches. The legislative branch will not go back to the donks this year. SCOTUS is locked up conservative for awhile. That leaves the executive branch. The donks smell blood and will not miss this opportunity to oust a GOP incumbent in the Oval Office.

Let's suppose that there was information in the National Archive that would implicate Kerry in something unsavory. Let's further suppose that this information would've been included in the 9-11 report due to be released in the near future, right around convention time. Could this info be so devastating that it would be worth having a former National Security Advisor steal it by stuffing it in his Jockey's? Berger knew damn well what he was doing and also knew it would destroy his reputation. What would force a man who had one of the top security clearances in the government to destroy his credibility and potentially face jail time? We shall see. I promise the Republican attack dogs are gearing up to push harder and harder.

This will definitely overshadow the convention next week and should be a recurrent theme in many news cycles to come. The Dems are questioning the timing of the "leak". The American public as a whole, and the coveted swing voters in particular, will see through this jive. The simple fact is that the guy committed a crime and the best the Dems can come up with is "The timing of the leak is questionable"?

"I do think the timing is very curious, given this has been under way now for this long," said Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle of South Dakota. "Somebody leaked it, obviously, with intent, I think, to do damage to Mr. Berger, and I think that's unfortunate."

Give me a break, this is politics you know, rough and tumble. The people of this country will not think about the politics, they will think that the former NSA committed a crime and we didn't hear about it for 6-months. The fact that he snuck it out by stuffing it in his pants will just make it more memorable.

Will this lead to Kerry? I think it's a strong possibility. Now to think of a title for this debacle; TrouserGate, BergerGate, or possibly KerryGate.
