Pretty Please With Sugar On Top
How pathetic that the ideal candidate for VP on the donkey's side is a Republican who keeps dissing them:
"I don't talk about the veep thing, you know that," Kerry told reporters on his campaign plane. "I've been very disciplined."
Republican Sen. John McCain scotched the idea of a cross-party election ticket with Kerry, the subject of much media speculation.
With the clock running on the selection process, Kerry advisers hope McCain's unequivocal statement will finally lay to rest any lingering notion that the Democratic candidate hopes to convince the Arizona senator and fellow Vietnam War veteran to join him in challenging President Bush on Nov. 2.
"I will not be a candidate for vice president of the United States," McCain declared on NBC's "Today Show."
Isn't that like the 80th time McCain said no?
