How to write a CD review:

I got Fought Down by Ken Layne und der Corvids in the mail the other day, and since I got a sticker with it, I guess I should say a few words about it. Yes folks, I can be bought. Give me a sticker and I'll say nice things about you and/or your product all day long. Just kidding ...but I do like stickers.

I can't write about music, since I usually just say, "it's pretty good" or "it sucks." That suffices in the real world. You know, I could probably write a lot more about the sticker than I could the CD. It's a neat little sticker with a picture of a black crow and "Ken Layne and the Corvids" in blocky black text. But where do I put it? I'm looking around my little computer room here, trying to find a place to affix the wee adhesive fellow. Right next to my left hand is the CD burner, but I don't think it should go there. The Mini-Disc deck and the old Kenwood stereo are unadorned and I'd like to keep them that way. I've thought about sticking it to one of my cats' paws and watch them try to flick it off, but that's only 10 minutes of enjoyment and it destroys the sticker's usefulness. I guess I could put it on my guitar case over there behind me, but it would be one lonely sticker in a sea of brown leather. That wouldn't be nice. My wife probably wouldn't appreciate me putting it on her keyboard, so that's out. I could put it on my computer, but I hardly ever look at the thing, judging by the amount of dust creeping out from the little alcove down there. On the rare occasions I do pull the thing out and take a gander at the innards, it's so choked full of dust that I'm afraid to disturb it. I've come to the belief that the continued operation of my computer depends upon the symbiotic relationship between the dust bunnies and the electronics.
