Zell Miller is all over the place slamming his own party. He has a point. I, as I believe to be the case of alot of folks, was a Truman/Kennedy Democrat. You know, Dems who didn't listen to polls, but listened to their heart. Want to honestly help people who need help. Believe that the way to assist minorities is to ensure that they have a great education through hard work, not quotas. Be a tough country, but also compassionate.
Do you think Truman took a friggin poll to aid his decision to drop the bomb? Kennedy saw the scourge of communism and chose to fight it.

The Democratic party is not the same party it once was. The current crop of presidential wannabe's is a great example. The candidates are all slamming "W" for the war in Iraq, when they should honestly state their position.

I re-read this nugget by one of my favorite writers, Peggy Noonan, who spells it out better than I could ever dream of doing.
