Random South Park Episode

Sphere: Related Content

In one of the episodes that can only be classified as wrong, PETA protests the cow mascot at the school and the boys force a vote on the new mascot being a large douche or a turd sandwich. Democracy lives.

Line of the show: when they originally have to choose between "redskins", "indians" or some other and the teacher says they are OK because "PETA doesn't care about people".

Stan gets banished as well for not voting.

PETA is a Satire of Itself

Sphere: Related Content

I'm a huge animal lover; I have three cats, two dogs and two birds that prove that.

That said, I'm also a carnivore; I love steak, chicken, pork and especially fish.

That brings me to the radical group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. PETA is essentially like every other radical group, they have a cause they fervently believe in, recruit others of the same mind and then do irritating (and gross) things that show just how committed they are. Some groups even go so far as to commit acts of violence.

Anyway, PETA is now calling for something that I would have believed as satire had it not been on their website. Here's the story:

RADICAL international animal rights group PETA has launched its most bizarre campaign yet, demanding fish be renamed "sea kittens".

PETA - People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals - believes calling fish sea kittens will make sea food less appealing.

It wants to change the image of fish as slimy and slithery creatures by claiming they are similar to cuter, more popular animals. "Would people think twice about ordering fish sticks if they were called sea kitten sticks?" PETA asked on its website.
Where to begin? You can call fish whatever you want: sea kittens, ocean puppies, tidal prairie dogs or marine meerkats and it won't change the fact that they are food. people have been eating fish for millenia and will not stop just because some unkempt people in hemp clothing say to.

They even allow you to go to their site and make your very own "sea kitten". Mine is very special to me and I've given her a name that suits her well:

Create Your Own Sea Kitten at peta.org!

PETA is beyond parody at this point and remember, you can't spell PETA without the P-E-T.

Via Tim Blair who has his amusing take on this and his own special "sea kitten".

Most Bicyclist's Are a Scourge

Sphere: Related Content

I'm all for people staying fit any way they can but there's one group that irks the hell out of me: bicyclist's.

I'm not sure what pisses me off more, the absolutely ridiculous outfits including brightly colored stretch fabric, the stupid friggin' helmets or the way they hog every single road they ride on and act as if they own it and everyone else is in their personal space.

Well, they went way too far in the liberal city of Seattle:

A mob of bicyclists riding in Seattle with the monthly Critical Mass demonstration injured a motorist after an altercation Friday.

Seattle police spokesman Mark Jamieson said between 100 and 300 bicyclists were riding down a street in the Capitol Hill neighborhood, blocking traffic in both lanes, when a man and a woman in a Subaru station wagon tried to pull out of a parking spot.

But some of the bicyclists blocked them, sat on the car and began banging on the vehicle, police said. Words were exchanged between the male driver and the bicyclists.
It turns out they are advocates for bicyclist's rights and were put out that a man actually had the audacity to back his car out while they were taking up an entire street. Now were it me in that car, there'd probably have been a multi-colored melee with helmets, bikes and those goofy-ass shoes they wear flying all over the street. I may get my ass kicked one day but it ain't gonna be by a dude wearing a pink, brown and purple bike shirt I can guarantee you that.

The other day I saw a guy on a bike take a header into the grass with absolutely no one around him and I couldn't keep myself from laughing once I made sure he was okay, honking and giving the guy a thumbs up for his clumsiness. It was wrong but it shows how arrogant these people are that I took satisfaction in it. I mean no disrespect to those who ride courteously but that was not the care in this instance.
