I started writing seriously about politics right before the US invaded Iraq in 2003. I dabbled before then in pages that have been lost to the ether but my collective thoughts since that first day nearly 14 years ago can be found on this blog. To say I'm a veteran is to describe an Edsel as a used car. 14 years of political writing on one blog is nearly unheard of. Back in the day there were the two guys who seriously got me writing--Glenn Reynolds and Tim Blair--that I admired and they are still at it today although both have expanded their horizons. There was Charles Johnson who went way off the rails, Matt Welch who is still surviving and Allahpundit who along with Ed Morrisey are pros now at Hot Air. Back then, blogs were the wild west and they brought down Dan Rather ushering in a new era of citizen reporting.
Needless to say, I've dealt with more than my share of liberals who disagreed with me on the topics of the day (and in the blogosphere, it was a different topic daily). I think I may have once been offended by being called a racist but as a US Navy vet it wore off quickly. I've been called xenophobic, misogynistic, a chicken hawk (oh the good old days), a tea bagger, a homophobe, a fascist, a warmonger, an idiot, moron, retard and a zillion other derogatory terms. So much so that they became meaningless. Being called a fascist by someone who advocated the forced silencing of their opposition was the norm and being called any of the above terms by people who know nothing about me and even less so the definitions of what they were calling me became more amusing than anything.
I wrote through the days when the left were making imaginary assassination films about Bush and the MSM breathlessly counted down to the day we hit 1,000, 2,000 and even 2,500 dead in Iraq so they could write pieces about the evil George Bush and his disregard for the troops he led. Who can forget the complete meltdown when Abu Ghraib came to light? They wrote as if GWB was holding the damn dog collar himself.
Those days I thought I had seen the complete lowest forms of life I'd ever see. The left was in full on meltdown. The Code Pinko's marched, Not In Our name screamed, Cindy Sheehan was paraded out as often as possible and International Answer and Move On just made nuisances of themselves. On the internet (pre-Facebook) the mobs were relentless. For a couple of years I had a paid gig writing for the now defunct AOL blog The Stump. I was the token conservative and boy did I battle people daily. They said they'd kill me, rape my wife, run over my children, light my dog on fire etc. The full anonymity of the internet was in full force. In short, it was the worst I had ever seen one group act and they were relentless. Blogs like Crooked Timber, Daily Kos, Think Progress and others urged them on by posting everything they could on Bush that was bad. It didn't even have to be real, they were just amping the intellectually stunted up and boy did it work. What we would now call fake news was on every page of those blogs.
Then came Obama and they were even worse. They had won so they were not only mindless and unintelligent but they were also smug. They were in their glory because now they didn't really even have to try to be witty, they just said that anything you said about Obama was racist and that was that. They didn't even try to form coherent points because why should they? In their cold, black hearts they just knew that anyone who was not with them was a racist misogynist pig. If you brought up Fast and Furious (a scandal that would've taken down any other president) you hated Mexicans even though Mexicans are the ones who suffered as did Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry who was killed by one of the guns that "walked". If you mentioned Benghazi and Hillary together you were a misogynist. If you pointed out the insanity that is Obamacare you hated poor people. Really good people were called horrible names by their neighbors just for pointing out the bad things in the country.
Which led us to Trump...
As noted above, I've seen the left at their absolute worst. The rage Ive seen was the same rage that Black men and women saw in the Jim Crow Democrat-controlled south. But that is nothing compared to what I'm seeing now. Perhaps because in the eyes of the left, this was never supposed to happen. Hillary would win easily and continue the path to socialized medicine, oppression of the white male patriarchy, abolishing the 2nd Amendment and abortion on demand at any time during gestation. They knew it was going to happen because the pollsters and pundits said so. They were stuck in the cocoon of MSNBC, CNN, the Huffington Post, Occupy Democrats and the NY Times. Nate Silver and other set the odds of Hillary winning all the way up to 99% right before the election. But then something happened they never even considered--Trump outsmarted them. This orange, woman-hating, pussy-grabbing, billionaire moron played them. They never considered what the rest of the country thought because "fuck those God-loving, bible reading, gun-toting rednecks and everything they believe".
And then it happened. Election night started out as a coronation for Hillary and then, slowly at first, the momentum shifted. Hmm, Trump might win Florida but we have Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin...hell, we may win North Carolina. As the night went on the realization dawned on them that they just might lose and that fear and eventual realization that they had lost caused something to snap. They lost their collective fucking minds that night. And it just got worse.
Fast-forward to inauguration day after two months of Trump antagonizing them and picking a serious cabinet. They protested and burned shit and generally made assholes of themselves. Trump ignored them and started signing executive orders and overturning Obama's EO's. This enraged them even more and I could hear in my head Glenn Close screaming "I will not be ignored!". Worse yet, Trump did not only ignore them but he kept ratcheting up the EO's and the rhetoric. The media were astonished that Trump worked so fast and the left was pissed because they couldn't decide what outrage to settle on before Trump smacked them upside the head again. They posted memes on social media and were rebutted by Trump supporters--but something funny happened, they couldn't just get away with calling those who disagreed racist anymore because they were no longer the smug ones in charge.
Meryl Streep railed against Trump and was not only ignored but openly laughed at. Other celebrities went on the offensive and were subsequently tuned into hilarious memes belittling them that were shared hundreds of thousands of times. They are losing their minds in ways I've never seen before and I've seen a lot. We are exactly 9-days into Trump's term and the left is apoplectic. The level of insanity rises every morning when they see that Trump posted another tweet. They get doubly incensed when Trump throw a curveball and keeps Obama's EO in place that protects the LGBT community at work.
We've got a long, long four or eight years ahead of us. I'll report the latest tirade, blow up or melt down I find amusing but I've a feeling America may very well finally be irrevocably split. Oh well, it gives a blogger something to write about daily.

Republican's Always Gonna Republican
Sphere: Related ContentThe GOP now has the Senate, House, Oval Office and soon will have the Supreme Court. That's all branches of the government for those keeping score at home. Finally we can get stuff done that we've been waiting a generation for: tax cuts, reduced regulations, increased assistance for small business, a major corporate tax cut, it's all in front of us...except, the Republicans have a sudden case of the pussies.
Trump is scaring the shit out of them and they are really perplexed. Sure, they talk the talk on the campaign trail but as always happens when they are required to step up and meet those promises they get all wishy-washy. They told us if we gave them the House they would stop funding Obamacare. They told us they need the Senate to do it and we gave them the Senate...still nothing. Finally they have everything in front of them, the ability to make history and show conservative ideas really work (the fact that Reagan showed they do is lost on them) is here and they act like a bunch of scared little girls.
Trump wants to eliminate Obamacare and has told them to get to it and they keep letting the timeline slip. Every day it gets longer and longer. National security is something these a-holes always talk about for hours while campaigning but given a clear opportunity to rewrite the tax code they shrivel up. Getting jobs back in the US is the number one promise of the president and he's doing everything possible while the wilty flowers in the legislative branch wring their collective hands because this is just the way or the speed things are done in Washington.
My goodness, if they act on any of this they might get invited to the best parties or the dinosaur NY Times may write something bad about them. Suck it the fuck up y'all, you work for your constituents and they voted Trump in as well.
I get you're supposed to be a check and provide balance but for crying out loud, that's generally a check and balance for the other party, not your own. If McConnell and Ryan--the consummate insiders cannot get it done, replace them with someone who can.
We've got a prime opportunity to fundamentally transform America for the next 20 years and you slink away because y'all have no balls.
Those of us who elected Trump want exactly what he said he was going to do. You want the status quo. You lose. Time to man up and act like representatives instead of enabled losers living off the government dole. Believe me, you not adequately responding to Fast and Furious, the IRS targeting of the Tea Party and Benghazi will seem like a minor affair compared to the thrashing y'all will get if you fail at this.

Women Rights, Abortion Rights and the Collective Insanity of the Left
Sphere: Related ContentOn Friday, Donald Trump became the 45th President of the US. He gave a 16 minute speech which he outlined exactly what he plans on doing and it mirrored exactly what he said he was going to do. He immediately signed executive orders aimed at Obamacare and other priorities.
On Saturday, women marched nationally in what they said was a march for all women but in fact was a mix of pent up anger that Trump won and their collective pro-abortion stance. I can say that without fear of being wrong because they excluded right-to-life groups.
The march was underwritten by many far left groups under the umbrella of George Soros--the anti-Semitic left-wing agitator. This was no grass roots effort.
The rage was clearly evident with many saying they marched because of Trumps words caught on tape that were distasteful. I cannot condemn Trump because A) I'm a man who played sports and B) I was once a sailor. There are many words I'd not like to have recorded and played back 20 years later but I digress. I find it amusing that these same women did not march or protest when Bill Clinton was accused of rape and actually did sexually harass a subordinate. In fact Nina Burleigh of Time Magazine said "I'd be happy to give him [oral sex] just to thank him for keeping abortion legal.".
Many women throughout the country marched and the results are about what you'd expect; women dressed as vaginas or wearing vagina hats or going topless or just generally marching. Quite a few men joined showing that they too are inclusive (or were forced to by their militant feminist girlfriends as well as many kids, some holding signs that they probably shouldn't have been.
They dressed as Muslim women without understanding (or failing to acknowledge) that in Muslim nations, women can be stoned for being raped, they can be honor killed for bringing shame upon ones family (which can mean talking to a man not their father, brother or husband), mutilation of their sexual organs is still common and gays are hung from cranes or thrown off buildings. I guess the irony escaped them.
The question of the mans role in the creation of a child was not answered and the role of birth control was not given a thought. The idea that abortion used as birth control is repulsive to some people was not even thought of during the proceedings.
The sheer inanity of the signs was intriguing as I felt as if I were on another planet. Note the second photo below; does that woman have an iota of comprehension what goes on outside our borders or outside Daily Kos and the Huffington Post?
No, the sole goal was to protect the right to an abortion as far into the pregnancy as possible and many held signs proclaiming "my body does not belong to the government". Funny, these same women cheered when Michelle Obama dictated what can go in our children's bodies or when laws are passed concerning the amount of sugar one can consume. I guess, once again the irony was lost on them.
I saw many women cheer for the First Amendment while simultaneously those same people would interfere with my Second Amendment rights without a second thought. Again, I guess the irony was lost on them.
I served our nation so these women could march yet I did not hear word one thanking those who gave their lives for the right they so freely exercised. I guess that was an oversight.
Anyway, welcome to the past--whenever a Republican is in office, abortion is back on the table at the nightly newscasts. Every move Trump makes will come with a liberal #fakenews outfit wondering exactly what this means for women (and minorities and the LGBT community and children and immigrants).
Saturday was just the beginning, this will be a long eight years...especially when Trump really starts #winning.

Why are Improved Relations With Russia a Bad Thing?
Sphere: Related ContentThere will be many discussions about the 2016 presidential election when time passes and we look at it less emotionally. Among them will be the horrible campaign run by Hillary, the cheating on the part of the DNC and the complete upheaval of the electorate and pre-conceived notions of how they would vote.
But the biggest discussion has got to be about Russia. The very same Russia that the Obama administration attempted to "reset" relations with and then botched it big time.
Or this memorable moment when Obama sounded like a lapdog to Medvedev:
Obama wanted nothing in the world more than to have good relations with Putin and Russia. He pulled missile defense out from Poland--a NATO ally--simply to placate the Russians and essentially turned a blind eye when Russia invaded the Crimea.
His own lack of negotiating skills and his chief foreign policy advisor, Hillary, made a mess of the situation.
And then things went south when Putin realized that Obama was a feckless leader who believed his very presence was enough to make the world bend to his ideas. The final straw was his inaction in Syria after drawing a red line (and then blamed our top ally for it). When Putin saw that he saw an advantage to go into assist Bashar Assad and also, and more importantly, give his military real-life experiences.
He also said the infamous words to Mitt Romney who saw exactly what Putin was doing. Oh how the media laughed over that pithy comment:
So here we are. The Democrats got smoked in the last election, they now have the least amount of power in decades nationally and they need to blame someone because liberals can never blame themselves or their ideology. So they blamed Russia and the media made them the new bad guy. They alleged that Trump colluded with the Russians and the highly politicized intelligence apparatus assisted as well.
Trump said he wants to work with Russia for the greater good and if the roles were reversed we'd see endless front page stories about what a good thing this is. But since it's Trump, they are using it to delegitimize him and his yet-to-begin presidency.
We need to work with Russia and we need to check their intentions, trump knows this since he's a deal maker. The U.S. having Russia as an enemy is a bad idea since they will be needed to maintain peace in the western Pacific and Asia. China is the real threat and the last thing we want is the outgoing president driving Russia to become friendlier toward their southern neighbor.
I don't trust Putin at all and never have but we need to work with him to solve the problems that exist between two super powers.
The actions of Obama recently with regard to Russia are as damaging as any lame duck president has ever left for his successor. By muddying the waters he has hurt our chances of finding a diplomatic settlement to the problems we face with Putin. These are real-world problems and the simple fact that Russia did not effect a single vote does not change anything. The problems exist and will continue to if we treat the as an adversary.
If Obama wants to hand Trump an impending NATO war in Europe, he's doing exactly that. It's important to note that Putin was actually the adult the last few weeks when he opted to not expel diplomats like Obama did. Putin is a businessman as well and he knows that Trump will do what he has to to protect his nation but also do what he needs to make the world (and Europe) safer. We have a common enemy in global jihadism and I for one would rather have the Russians fighting it with us versus against us.
